Not going to lie, that doesn't sound like an upgrade worth the price unless you have a buyer lined up for the LP120 at a decent number. I'm sure the U-Turn with an acryllic platter will sound better than your LP120, but not $300+ better. You'd be better off to keep saving and buy something higher up the upgrade ladder, especially if you're willing to go the used route. A standard household vacuum is fine. The fluid chamber is built into the model, so you don't need to worry about have a wet/dry shop vac. Even says right on their site " It requires no power, and you provide the suction via any home style vacuum with hose attachment."

I just fixed a friend's beogram 4002 that had similar problems. First the tonearm wouldn't raise or lower at all, then it wouldn't snap back up fast enough to not drag across a record when the tonearm assembly was returning at the end of play. It was as simple as getting down into the solenoids and cleaning off the old caked-on grease and adding a drop of singer oil to it along with the other moving parts. Had to remove one c-clip that was really gummed up, but overall it was a pretty simple fix.

There are just so many great preamps in the $100 range, this seems like a mistake. maybe at $50, sure, but does anyone have faith they can make a preamp that sounds better than something like an entry model cambridge azur?
