I think if by some miracle I get to see Glories perform any of There Is No Stillness I might turn into a weeping fetus haha.

So jealous! I would kill to hear "With Grace". How was it different?
Also I need to shout out to @omik11303 for exposing me to those Golden Hymns Sing albums! I bought both physical CDs and they have NOT left my car since they came! Both albums are so deep, and continually reveal new intricacies. If you guys have not checked these albums out, you must do so. They are a patient listen... and will not reveal all of their secrets immediately. But oh man, each album just gets better and better each time through. Thanks buddy!

Definitely Ranges, Appalaches, and Silent Whale Becomes A Dream to start. This Patch of Sky was also very solid. Not instrumental, but Arrowhead's EP "Maunder" and the new Rosetta album get continuous spin from me.

Mono have logged in significant touring mileage throughout their career, amazing they have held up for so long without burning out. Hopefully, Takada is ok health-wise and Mono can surely find a replacement if the remaining three want to keep it going. They really should take a break for a couple of years, do some more solo stuff if they want, rest up and regroup regarding their direction of sound. Last time I saw them they were loud as ever, but seemed not as into as the first time, but it was toward the end of a six or seven month world tour iirc.
The Wess Meets West song is fantastic - ready for more from them! Saw the link on IG yesterday but couldn't get to it so thanks for the linkage here.
In case it wasn't mentioned, Te' released a 5 song EP earlier this year, no vinyl, but still excellent as always. Hard to search because of the accent mark on the e, and even then searches don't always catch it. Where toe are jazzy, and LITE are light (or medium), Vasudeva, Enemies, etc. are noodly, and Giraffes!? are mathy, Te' bring a harder rock (gain on the guitars) in their instrumental music. Driving energy with nice riffs, linear, not circular music, and they never really cross into a metal sound imo. If you like their former material, check them out. The album is called "Kai."
Kai
Reddit has a nice postrock release list by month for 2017 for those into making lists and checking missed material (of which there is a goodly amount not mentioned here)
Postrock albums of 2017 as of December 9

Picked up both. It's not my absolute favorite thing but there's some suuuuper cool moments in these, and for handmade stuff that's only $5..... why not. Thanks for the tip!

Three cheers for you for finding this out! I just spun my tour splatter last night, and it is awful, unfortunately. Total rice crispies. There's one weird part too towards the end of David Shaw where as the music gets more intense, the rice crispy noise also gets more intense, and then subsides once the music dips down. Very strange phenomena. It's a distraction to listen to A Gallant Gentleman, for instance, because the calm of that intro and the pensive suspense is broken by the constant fuzz of clicks and noise. It still sounds fucking incredible once the music comes in, but I wish it were quiet. Hopefully this solves the problem!
Do you guys know what causes this to begin with? Is it just a poor molding, or can the stampers get dirty and literally just press a poor-quality noisy record?

Gumbo72203 got a reaction from daegor in Rosetta- Galilean satellites
No no i understood your question. You have to buy the album twice to get the full album, which is kind of stupid. I will probably never listen to the ambient stuff.
and i just literally realized I spent $75 on one album. lol. Fuck me. I hate life.

Seeing as these have been up for a week and the most limited still hasn't sold out, I'd be very surprised if it does haha. We'll see!

Well, that was fucking incredible. Got to meet and hang with the one and only mrewest and his brother. Total blast.
Some early highlights - During the Junius set, about 4 songs in, Ryan (Evan's brother) comes back over to us and states quite emphatically: "This is awesome! I'm never trusting your description of bands again!" Also somewhere during Junius' set: Evan leans over to me and says something like "I've got the perfect description for this in your style: It's like if hell had a dance party! It's heavy, but you want to dance! Uh oh... I'm starting to think in Gumbo!" haha. It was great.
Also, The End of the Ocean. That's a hard "Nope!" on having any words to describe their set. Just, nope. Not even. Evan got a classic "!!!!!" text from me not even 20 seconds in. Go see this band.

Dunk has been amazing!!!! I wish more of you were here. Checking in real quick before a quick little power nap before Day 2. Another crushing lineup awaits.
I took a picture with Trish from TEOTO while wearing a Sunlight Ascending shirt I got from Don. My life is complete now.

Awesome, I knew those shirts and CDs found a good home, and I'm sure you made Trish's day. Hopefully she signed it in red lipstick or something
Forbsie tried to get ERR to put a SWAK on my Kitsune album jacket she signed way back when, but she wasn't wearing black lipstick that night, haha.

Yeah I remember you saying that. Apparently the band wanted to press it to vinyl, but their computer crashed and they lost all of the files. I shot them a quick message, because I was curious about the 10th anniversary advertisements on their page. They said that they recorded the album over because they weren't happy with the sound, and that the new version is more accurate to how they play them live. In fact, they said that the 2nd version features the band playing live in the studio, with just vocal overdubs. So, it seems that it was a combination of factors that lead to them simply doing it all over.
I prefer the original because it has a more raw, underground sound that offers a really cool counterpoint to the ethereal music they make. The new version is still good, but a little bit too over-produced and too clean in my opinion.
In other news, a new (old) Au Revoir track!!! This is also pretty damn good!

Bosses Hang is my favorite Godspeed song now. Part 3.... ugh. That is heaven for me. That section could be 20 minutes long and I'd never get sick of it.
