Yeah they're stalwarts of the Denver scene. Solid Cascadian-inspired band that put out a couple of good records (and very well thought-out packaging). They're kind of elusive though – I've only seen them play once.

My understanding is the complete reverse. Bands don't make money from the ticket sales but do from the merch sold. Besides, how can the venue make $ off merch if the band sets up the table and sells it themselves? How does the venue keep tabs on cash sales? At least this is how I justify my t-shirt collection

You can save $ by buying the frame extrusions and hardware on-line, the (acid free) backing and mats from an art store, and the glass (cut to size) from an actual framing shop. Put it together yourself. Do a bit of internet research first if you're uncomfortable with the assembly process. People tend to drop a lot of coin for something that isn't terribly hard to do.
