  1. Best usb turntable on the market, but for the same money there are better options. Still better than my old numark
  2. Of course online is cheaper, the amount of overhead is substantially less in an online store. To keep the lights on in a brick & mortar they are going to have to mark them up higher or music isn't what's keeping the doors open (boutique, smoking accessories, adult films (anything you can mark up double or more). You also get the benefit of a potentially interesting conversation with fellow collectors/music enthusiasts, discovering new music over the loud speakers, and who knows what else you might stumble upon thumbing through the racks. I only use online to find needles in a haystack or buy exclusives through labels. So much of the appeal of vinyl to me is the treasure hunt, something that online sucks all the fun out of. Yeah it was nice to finally win that Jets To Brazil auction, but it wasn't as satisfying as stumbling on to "Modern Guilt" at Black & Read, despite the album being less important to me personally. I think so many could benefit from spending an extra couple hours and bucks and going to your local. I promise it will diversify your tastes (most of your dead formats have some combination of the same 30 bands!)
  3. I'd almost guarantee it will be the mixed color vinyl of it's all crazy and the half green half olive of brother, sister
  4. Pretty sure burnt toast has that split color brother, sister too. Both my friends complained about it skipping, but mine was perfect
  5. Splatter variant could be a factor too, I have poor luck with them sound wise. I swear they are almost always as noisy as picture discs in my experience. The mastering is pretty good for an indie recording though
  6. Well its mediocre, cause its kind of off-center and slightly warped and crackly even after wet cleanings. Usually something I associate with thinner, cheap pressings. I was pretty surprised when I rechecked it and it seemed to be around 140 grams. I could honestly care less about 180 gram, 140-160 is usually fine. I guess I'll just chalk it up to a bad apple due to poor quality control from overbooked plants.
  7. I'd question the quality, last domestic reissue was 4MWB. I have a home of the hits pressing which is fantastic. Can't comment on the quality of the last reissue but I'd be weary with that label
  8. nah, just would have been cheaper than $21.50 shipped but money went to a good place
  9. May not be dynaflex, but it's certainly not a quality pressing. I guess you are probably right with it being standard gram, the mediocre quality fooled me
  10. Wish I had read this thread before ordering that new blue in clear pressing. Oh well, I spent the extra $1.50ish to buy it from the band store rather than triple crown. I still need to support these dudes (at least in a small way) after what happened to them
  11. My local had 20% off on Monday, finally got the new Sidekicks record and a japanese 7'' of Blondie "Kidnapper" for about $18 after tax. A friend gave me a belated bday present of Tame Impala "Currents" colored version.
  12. I doubt they would stop doing colored vinyl, but I'd be happy with a nice, quality, black pressing like the new Sidekicks record. Whenever, If Ever was thin as shit
  13. I know its the same deal, same artwork on each 7" as the album packs I think the only major difference is it forms a picture across the spine of all 46 7''. It's not a great deal for the reasons you stated. I mean I'd love to have it but I'm not that rich
  14. My friend just played this album for me last night, this is a must buy for me. My local has 20% off today so I may just have to snag this, although waiting for the blue is semi-tempting
  15. it's a great package, each 7'' has different artwork, and it has a leather obi that wraps around all 5 of them in a resealable bag. It's a worthy buy
  16. http://www.piratespressrecords.com/store/album-packs-c-47_49/rancid-and-out-come-the-wolves-album-pack-5x7-p-399.html?zenid=252cd1a5832385df60001d54436804aa 7'' set but not badly priced, I have it, it sounds great but I usually play my 2004 black pressing just cause I'm lazy
  17. But I heard the first in line at every store wanted Deja
  18. Ouch, line wasn't more than 20 people till 8. It did wrap around the block by opening. It gets bigger and bigger each year, but still pales in comparison to most other cities. One perk of living in this crazy, conservative military/bible belt town
  19. My local has incredible buying power (got 30 copies of "Guilty Of Everything" on pink) and such a small serious record collector community. I got the elusive but unspecial Sigur Ros a couple years ago without issue
  20. Had I been posting here back in April I probably would have, but every year I seem to get everything I want and can't bring myself to buy something to flip knowing a real fan got screwed out of it
  21. I'd like to see a Goldfrapp set, their vinyl packaging, and sound quality is always top notch. So I would expect a boxset to be a must buy, not to mention originals of the first 4 are expensive. Also really want to see a Bob Dylan bootleg series of the "Blood On The Tracks" era My other big hope is to see Adeline records, take a stab at the Donnas catalog and include all the special extras like the calendar. I just don't see this happening without a reunion tour or some other kind of hype they have been too long out of the spotlight.
  22. I've wanted to see vinyl releases for years, but they think vinyl is environmentally unsafe and refuse to release anything in this format (like plastic cds are healthier or something). I even linked them a plant that does recycled vinyl and recycled paper sleeves and no response
  23. This is exciting, I see touch & go is finally making some moves again. It's been all downhill since he and his wife split (personally I think she was the brains behind the operation during its glory days). I feel like all they did in the last 3 years was reissue spiderland, put out the shellac record and do that Rodan comp (QS but whatever same label). There is a lot of gold on that label, so I'm curious to see what else they are going to do aside from this and Big Black
  24. That's sad, my local got like 20-25 across all 5 locations, I could have had one but left it for the real fans
