Finally picked up the SDF/Touche Amore collabo on grey marble and the new twiabp/rozwell kid split on black. Think I got out for under $11 at my local
-
My local said they aren't getting this for a couple weeks, ill probably just buy from them if no one else is getting their copies in yet. They were selling 14 min mile for $5 (I got it for $4 since they noticed a slightly bent corner) so it'll probably be cheaper unless I want to place a larger order which isn't affordable for a couple weeks. Why is every thread turning into boycotting bands and labels based on personal politics shit that has nothing to do with music, you can like music and dislike a person's attitude/politics/whatever, they aren't mutually exclusive. I get if you wanna hate the belltower guy (or whatever pure noise band or whatever band name he used to be in, I could give two shits about any band on that label) or ronnie, drawing the line at sexual assualt is ok. But when it turns into this "fuck every band that has ever toured, been nice to them or label that signed them" it gets ridiculous. Think about the people you work with, do you agree with the politics or actions of every single one of them? From a label's perspective its pretty tough to drop a band when legal charges aren't even filled (this doesn't apply to epitaph they are old school punks and just don't give a fuck). Signing to epitaph was a smart business decision for TWIABP, doesn't mean they have to like everyone of their label mates.

I could have got a bad egg, not all copies are created equal in this format after all. It's only noticeable in a couple spots on the B and C side and it doesn't overpower the music, its not a warp or off-center or a "no-fill" issue, but with splatter variants my understanding is a machine can't form the pellets and it has to be done by hand, where there is a chance whoever doing it can introduce oils and dirt from their hands into the record and no amount of cleaning is going to take that surface noise out. Just my bullshit theory. I hear this is the only real negative to the sound quality of splatter, color in color, half/half, starburst and possibly marbled is you can't just have a machine do it and take out the variable of introducing oils/dirt into the pressing

Good price, I was more focused on buying used at that point in my collecting. So many records I should have bought in hindsight during that period -

Silversun Pickups' Carnavas Limited Edition On Vinyl
NapalmBrain replied to dmblea's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
they get department of record stores exclusives. Which is only available at like 10 stores nationwide or so. They haven't gotten many so far, but I know there has been at least a few: MF DOOM "Operation Doomsday" on green /300 (I have this one, worked at another store in the same coalition), and there was an orange reissue of Ben Folds Five "Whatever And Ever Amen" /600. I'm not sure but I think there was a color run on the new Body Count album too, but that may have been all indie record stores -
It's hard to fit that bill but maybe Moose. If you want something newer maybe Alvvays or Field Mouse

NapalmBrain replied to jacobe's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Special Explosion - The Art Of Mothering (black 20/20) won topshelf auction J Dilla - Donuts 45 (white vinyl instead of the picture disc) given by a friend who got it working at amoeba in hollywood , I don't think its as limited as some test pressings I don't have any full length though -

Guero, Odelay, Mellow Gold and Midnite Vultures would be excellent to see repressed, Really wish I hadn't slept on the Odelay box that came out like 4 or 5 years back, it was pricey -

some great obscure funk, whole album has been heavily sampled. Originals are a small fortune, but it was reissued a few years back. -

so are the mewithoutyou for sale yet? I guess I can just drop in and see, really looking forward to it and this variant looked to be my favorite by the pic -
really great mix on the self-titled. There is a good amount of surface noise which seems to be common with splatter (yes even after a wet cleaning), but its not overly distracting on this album. Beautiful package, I'm pretty content to have this in my collection

I'd guess they won't miss this opportunity to do Goldfrapp "Black Cherry" for black friday. Especially since Felt Mountain was RSD -

RFC has black and also orange copies of jack-o-lantern up for sale again. Too bad I went to amazon a month or so back -
Snagged self titled a couple weeks back, that's good news though. Dude ranch and self titled are the two I obsessed over, I'm sure I'll add the others eventually
-
I'm hoping they reissue dude ranch again, I keep missing out. I had that cd on release day, and every time I see it in the wild it has a huge price tag. I'm not picky, standard black is fine. Just do a large pressing for once

Official Numero Group Thread
NapalmBrain replied to Jimmy_Melnarik's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Same but that's up to t&g pretty sure they own the rights and are largely inactive. I have the first and last albums but it would be awesome to see a box set with a reproduction of the library cover of engine takes to water and the stamps with tropics and meridians -

Was the motown story set the one with the introductions to each song by smokey robinson? Such a fantastic set I lost mine in a break up -

Yeah it surpassed my expectations. Nick Bassett continues to impress me and it's really nice to hear her vocals up front. I wasn't expecting so many upbeat fun songs, and that closer is killer -
