  1. That's awesome! Now just take bribes from the others in line for where to stash the high-demand records in various bins across the store
  2. Really wanted to like Geotic given I love Baths but it didn't grab me the same way. That being said, that may be Will's point when he talks about it being more os a passive listen. I feel I just needed a bit more to hook me in. Luckily Tycho is still holding me over! Really need to delve into his back catalog...
  3. No weirder than here, IMO. Different strokes for different folks!
  4. I'm wondering it is because there was also a RE last year on standard black? With all this said, what the VMP board loves is often a little askew from what the general public loves. If it were up to them, NAO and sir Was would be long gone. For me, that Methyl Ethel was fire and I love it.
  5. If you are a Crate member and hoping Tidal makes it to the next month as an archive title you would be taking a big risk IMO. If you are certain you want the album, you may simply want to jump on as a sub for a month, although they may catch on to your ability to go back to Crate and you will lose that option forever. Risk / reward depending on how bad you want Tidal.
  6. Not my cup of tea (I tried, I swear I did!) but I can see why people are attracted to it. Although to be fair, most of my fav albums end up in the sale section for much cheaper I'm shocked Islands (and kick ass variant at that) is still around.
  7. From Canada and the same rules apply to us up here. You can order as much or as little as you want from the store, but there is an additional shipping cost. The first piece is a set amount (somewhere between $5-8 USD) and then every additional store item after is reduced shipping ($3-5 USD). So if you are going to buy from the store, better to buy in bulk per purchase to talk advantage of the reduce multiple item cost. They will show you the shipping price before you pay as well! The store items usually get shipped out in your next AOTM package.
  8. Haha. I don't think people realize that the public can just buy that Fugees record now given it's over 12 months old (i.e., it is no longer members only, just like all of the 2015 catalog). Don't let these referral jabronies fool you. Other records from their exclusives you can get without even joining the club: Big Bill Bronzy Strand of Oaks Ricky Eat Acid sir Was ISLANDS NAO https://app.vinylmeplease.com/products/store-exclusives
  9. VMP has hinted at some other Fiona pressings potentially coming in the store... haven't given her a chance so I better start now
  10. Ya if there are any archive albums you want that are low stock, you may want to grab them when you can from the store! With a lot of people who wanted DD forced into multi-month subs, they will be eating up the swaps on older AOTMs.
  11. VMP doesn't do boots Posted this on the previous page: Remastered from original analog tapes by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound
  12. There's a guy on their boards that had the most they have ever seen. Said he could pay for close multiple years or subs from it and all he did was sit on reddit and respond to requests. Turns what should be a personal recommendation engine, into a popmarket code. Also, FYI: VinylMePlease **UPDATE** Still working on resurrecting our site after traffic from the Fiona announcement crashed it...thanks for your patience! Apr 20, 2017, 3:41 PM
  13. It has been this way forever. I remember people asking why Four Tet was black and it was his choice as well. Some artists don't care, some do. The Gorillaz camp decided on red as well...
  14. Ya, the referral system wasn't properly thought out before DD. If I was on the VMP business side I would have added a few conditions beyond the simple 50 'max': 10 max per release (i.e., $100) Must be on 3 or more month subs It really cheapens the VMP experience IMO when it becomes a cashgrab for people in the right place / right time / spammers. Also for those wondering, the source and mastering is right on the release page: 2LP, 180g Black Vinyl 45 RPM Gatefold Jacket 12-page lyric booklet Remastered from original analog tapes by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound 12x12 Art Print by Wade Jeffree + Leta Sobierajski aka Ikko Ikko
  15. VMP sneakily getting two sought after albums. Tidal nowhere near the personal fav DD was but good on them!
  16. It's also NIN, which means you need to add 100% of the expected time onto everything. I say sometime in June/July if we are lucky. They haven't even shipped out NTAE yet...
  17. For those who wanted The National exclusive, they should have access to it now from the store! Also, my DD pressing is fine, outside of the fact that it is LOUD as hell. The crossfades are missing (not the biggest deal), and the sleeves are a bit snug (due to the card-stock used), but overall I'm very happy with it given it's a digital recording. There does seem to be a small defect for some (skip on Side C), but most of the complaints I have read regarding the pressing are either user error or minor (cross-fades). Grabbed Son House, Perfume Genius and Glass today from the store. Although it's nice to have so many options, I preferred when the store was a bit tighter and a little more curated. Either way, this month's exclusives may be the best set yet.
  18. Some people buy a sports car to drive around in a big city. *shrugs* Had my platter for 3-4 years now? Have never regretted it, awesome but not a necessary upgrade if you can't afford it. I just grabbed the Speedbox and I'm still in the habit of going to the manual switch...
  19. I find the drink cocktails generally TOO unique for actually making out of a standard bar most people have in their homes. Don't get much value out of that but saving them for a rainy day hopefully. *shrug* I have also found my inner / outer sleeve fit becoming very snug in the most recent AOTM. Small nitpick, but considering the card stock on the outers and printed inners, I believe it's a symptom of a quality package that has +25k units floating around.
  20. Ya, those cameos really ruined a great QOTSA album! Wait... 21. Ya, as is the case with a lot of the semi-major labels nowadays, they spread themselves too thin on variants, thus leaving the best package out there unsold and eventually in the bargain bin.
  22. Crate was a mistake on their part as it allowed people to sign up for a SMALL amount and still pick up the AOTM one month late and on-demand (i.e., if you didn't like it you could skip it). They rectified this by removing the Crate option half a year ago... however, they were nice enough to grandfather in Crate members indefinitely. Maybe the original promise of Crate was that you could get old AOTM, but assuming that would still be the standard after they have removed the option from their business model entirely is assuming too much, IMO. Either way, remove emotions from that decision because once you cancel you can't go back... and the Crate membership is one hell of a sweet deal ($4-6 a month) to pay for access to their stock and free shipping.
  23. The deluxe version of '...Like Clockwork' is one of my favourite vinyl packages I own.
