celebdeath got a reaction from achillesstand7 in PO: Russian Circles - Memorial (Media Mail back on Hello $5.50)
reckon the grey suits the art real nice. spun mine a couple of times yesterday. man, RC always delivers.

celebdeath got a reaction from bathroommonkey in PO: Pearl Jam - Lightning Bolt (Oct 15)
mine came in the other day. not too much in the way of pops and clicks. a couple here and there but nothing to worry about What is more concerning is how underwhelming the album is. Given it a number of listens and I'm finding it hard to get over the Sheryl Crow-isms.

celebdeath got a reaction from Skeletal Lightning in Dear Labels: Idea for Black Friday sale for non-US customers
It'd only be the really big labels that could swallow shipping reductions. To be honest, the smaller labels generally have enough demand in their own marketplace anyway, so as they dont rely on international purchasers, it's certainly not in their best interest to cut the arse out of their minimal margin by undercharging shipping. Obviously, they like us internationals buying their stuff, but needs must, and they dont need us to buy their releases. i wouldn't want to throw that sorta thing on smaller labels anyways. It is a tough market and i;d rather these labels survive so they keep releasing records, than dying off coz they swallowed too many costs.

celebdeath got a reaction from kamalatapes in Am I being squeezed by an eBay member?
mac1's situation is typical of the response one will get from the offending postal service.
pack the record well, ship it OUTSIDE the sleeve, use a decent mailer and cross yr fingers.
wildflange, i hope it works out for you. you are doing all that is reasonable, more than what's reasonable in this situation. once it finishes, wash yr hands of ebay altogether and stick to like-minded forums, discogs and the like.

celebdeath got a reaction from derby625 in Am I being squeezed by an eBay member?
how so? we're all dealing with an unknown quantity in the 3rd party handling our records - the post office. nothing can control what these organisations do or how they handle our records. it should expected that SOME very minor damage will happen to the record sleeve in transit. unfortunately, i dont think we can expect minty mint mint records to arrive through the post. not ragging out on you here, but i have found as well that some ppl have way too high expectations on what condition the record SHOULD be when it lands on their doorstep, especially after a 6000 mile commute.
a little bit of reasoned thinking is required in these situations.

ditch ebay. it is fucked. discogs is much better...for a worldwide online marketplace type deal.

celebdeath got a reaction from drds89 in Do Compilations count towards a full collection?
Comps, I can see. Exclusive tracks on other formats, yes. Tests and the like, no. If it is available to general public, I think it can be considered collectible for collection-bragging-rights. Things that aren't generally available shouldn't be considered a part of a collection, just bonus extra, if you will, and if yr lucky enough to snag one.

celebdeath reacted to deletedunknown in Bossk - Pick Up Artist EP on Deathwish
Bossk join the Deathwish Family, "Pick Up Artist" EP out soon
Bossk are an atmospheric post-everything band from Ashford, Kent, England.
The band released four promising recordings ("1", "2", the "3" DVD, and a split EP w/ Rinoa) on their own Eyes Of Sound label before taking temporary hiatus in 2008. After four years of dormancy, Bossk awoke from their slumber collectively inspired to create in 2012. The band soon performed at UK's Damnation Festival In the Fall of 2012, and entered the studio to record the "Pick Up Artist". A seven minute textural epic that is crushingly heavy and uniquely melodic. Crashing forward in two unique movements, "Pick Up Artist" has a hypnotic ebb and flow that carries Bossk past obvious influences (Isis, Neurosis, etc.) as they expand into new uncharted territory. The song was released to the public via free download in the Fall of 2012 to critical acclaim.
In 2013, Bossk completed a UK Tour (their first in four years) with Dragged Into Sunlight. The band also managed to enter the studio to record a version of Fleetwood Mac's "Albatross". A beautiful track that allows Bossk to explore the more serene peaks and valleys of their ever evolving sound. Deathwish are proud to announce a limited vinyl release of these two spectacular songs as one 7"EP. Pre-ordering information will be announced sometime soon.
Bossk plans to spend the rest of the year crafting a new album and playing select dates.
I didn't even know Bossk were still around. Really good post-metal band.

celebdeath got a reaction from twentytwo in Kings of Leon - Mechanical Bull
i'd disagree twentytwo. the first album is a completely different kettle of fish to what they do now, musically speaking. cant really tell with the lyrics coz i find it near impossible to understand him on that rek! haha! aha shake gives a nod to where they decided to go, and the nod gets 'noddier' as the discography goes on. i would however, grudgingly admit that it is obvious KoL were always going to develop the 'sound' they currently have. Some bands want to be pop bands. Stone Temple Pilots readily admitted when Purple came out they were really a 'pop' band. KoL have a stadium sized sound. I say, good luck to them, i'll still treasure the only time I've seen them, in some poxy little tent at a festival almost 10 years ago now, and will still listen to Youth, Aha and Because with great joy.

No record will be able to recreate the full body massage one experiences from the low end at their shows.
But I'll happily pick this up and spin it anyway.
