Get upset or not that shit is incredibly corny and I'll be personally judging people who allow rap/hip-hop/pop artist/producer roles to invade rock genres. Step one to forgetting how to play instruments as a society and that's not hyperbole.

I mean, she dropped in on one of his LA shows the weekend before last to duet a couple of songs and hug him on stage.  Not sure how much animosity that leaves room for.

First show of 2024 last weekend. Caught SUMAC with Scarcity and Forbes Grahm at Arts at the Armory in Boston*.
Forbes Grahm was cool; not really my thing, but I can appreciate anyone creating their own thing. Seemed like some free jazz type stuff on the trumpet, but run through some number of filters (I'm presuming ProTools or something, based on the two-Macbook setup on the stage) and effects. Definitely seemed like the kind of unexpected weird that Aaron Turner loves, so it made sense.
Scarcity played almost entirely new material from a record that Brendon Randall-Myers confirmed will be releasing sometime later this summer through The Flenser.  They're a full band now, and the new songs sound pretty badass. I wish they'd played more from Aveilut, but apparently according to BRM, those songs are insanely hard to translate live. They did close their set with the "III" movement, which was cool.
SUMAC was fantastic. Loud as hell, all three of them appeared to be really having a blast playing. They're getting even more improvisational/noisy these days; I'd estimate that at least 50% of their set was unidentifiable from anything they've recorded.

2 new tracks debuted tonight.  Lines up with a Belgian article that recently mentioned a new album in September.  The video clips I heard were glorious… but I also say this as someone who’s really happy with their last album, and isn’t even remotely tired of them covering the same ground they do so well.
Bits of the percussion and flow at a few parts were giving me major DMST vibes.  Which is a good thing.

Almost as if all pop(ular) music is carefully constructed to do exactly this. There has never been any real emotion in Taylor's music and I think the whole "hueh hueh I r metal guy who lieks Taylor aren't I quirky?" deal was the fucking strangest happy coincidence for her and her management.

We should make showers the next quirky weird thing to fuck the man. Until they get too popular of course.

I find it hilarious a bunch of dudes who literally only bought Swift records for weird street cred are now complaining about people doing the same thing for more money.

I just joined interscope Vinyl collective subscription in Jan. January’s record for the interscope vinyl collective.
product is Juice WRLD - "Goodbye & Good Riddance" IVC Edition. I received a copy of the Used's In Love & Death! Is this normal? Is it supposed to be a Used vinyl? $48. 38 a month is a lot for a Used record.  I’m hoping they made a mistake.. The limited edition factor is what attracted me to this service. If I knew it was the Used I would not have joined.

You’re disappointed because you can’t hear the vocals?  Am I interpreting that right?  Asking because the vocals are 100% the reason I can’t stomach this band.  Actually enjoy some of the mathy songwriting and curveballs, but not enough to get over those vox.  Maybe this new one is worth sampling…

I don’t care what bands do with re-records or live albums or whatever, I can choose to buy it or not easy enough. But please don’t tease any of these things in the same way you’d tease a new album… not cool!
