  1. I bought some 10.1's that I have been contemplating for a while. Thanks for the heads up!
  2. This. I don't see the rationale. I also don't like it when people know that a lane is closed or closing and traffic is moving slowly and they speed up in the lane that is closing and cut in at the last second which then slows down traffic for everyone. The thing is, is that's the crap that causes it to be slow in the first place. I also don't like it when the light turns green and people are texting or whatever and just sitting there. I will honk my horn at you for that one. I stopped giving the finger, now I just give a sarcastic smile and thumbs up. It's saying, hey buddy, I know your an idiot, but try to be less of an idiot in the future mmmmm kay?
  3. I am really digging the album, but I am having trouble getting over how quiet it is. When I am in the car I have to have the volume all the way up on my phone and my stereo to be able to listen to it at the volume that I like. I feel like everything is mixed correctly, it is just lacking balls. Then skrillex comes on afterwards and WUB WUB BWAH!!!
  4. Here is a really interesting article from the viewpoint of a "professional" bike thief. http://thesweethome.com/reviews/best-bike-lock/ From the article there are two types, the low-time guy, and the big time guy. The low-time guy They often don't go for high dollar items because instead of a misdemeanor they are looking at a felony. Don't carry bolt cutters because you can get in trouble for intent so they usually carry only wire cutters. More of a smash and grab and flip type guy. The big-time guy He is going to scout the area and make sure everything is clear. If it is too busy he will not bother. Probably put on a fake public uniform and say that he is a city employee removing abandoned bikes. He is gonna get your bike no matter how many locks it has. Nothing is as good as keep it in a public place and do not leave it unattended or out of sight for too long. If it is your commuter then just try to keep it as cheap as possible.
  5. I believe in equal rights no matter what sex you were born, who sex you like to bone, or what color you are. We like to think that we are all high and mighty, but it wasn't really all that long ago that the following happened. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_women's_rights_(other_than_voting) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Married_Women's_Property_Act_1870 From 1955-1968 this happened. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Rights_Movement http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abolition_of_slavery_timeline Ignorant, self-righteous people are going to think what they are going to think. For the most part I just hope we don't breed more of them and they eventually die off. I believe in a future when my grandchildren say "wait, people actually believed/did that back then, that's crazy" and I will say "yes, but they were generally ignorant assholes". However, I may be one of the few who think that it's racist to have seperate standards for different races of people for college or the workplace. If you outscore/outperform you should be able to have that position, not because of your race. That is inequality by its definition. Equal doesn't mean fair.
  6. My Stable 1985 Schwinn Super Le Tour (Road bike for the trainer) 2009 Motobecane Fantom CX (2x9 Cyclocross) 2009 Haro Mary SS 29" (Single Speed Rigid Mountain Bike) 2010 Motobecane Fantom 29" (Hard Tail Mountain Bike 2x9) 2013 Sworks Epic 29" (Full Suspension Mountain Bike 1x10) Bikes are a much bigger passion than music/records for me. I race mountain bikes, hence the larger selection of mountain bikes. I am a big fan of my CX bike, it was my first bike and is the most versatile bike that I have and the one that gets the most miles put on it in a year. If I put some road wheels on it is more or less a road bike, put fenders/rack on it and it is a decent commuter, it is great for crushed limestone trails that we have all over around here, it could also be used for a CX race, and it can even do light single track.
  7. Paintball! It would take some logistics and setting up, but you said that you were in the woods so it might work. It's what I did for one of my friends bachelor party and it was a lot of fun and a great way for everyone to get to know each other. We did it at a paintball facility/park so we didn't get dominated in the open matches. We had a large enough group that we got to just play against ourselves and made our own teams.
  8. all our bruised bodies...... is my favorite song by them. It really ties the whole album together with the same theme and message. When I saw them they ended the show with that song and at first I was upset because I wanted to hear king park instead. Then I sat down and listened to it a few more times and it means a lot to me.
  9. Totally agree. One thing I really dislike is going to a bar and there being a cover band that is just trying to sound exactly like the song they are covering. I don't see the point. Just turn on the radio at that point. When I go to a bar I want to hang out and talk to friends and not have crappy music blared at me. I also see music as an art. What is the point of someone being able to paint a copy of the mona lisa or whatever? I want someone to show me what they can do, not what someone has already done. When people take a song and they make it their own it is pretty sweet. One time I went to a bar and a dude was playing 80's/90's pop on his acoustic guitar. That was enjoyable.
  10. I gave up on the whole "collecting" of records a while ago. It was expensive and time consuming and pretty much pointless. Usually just buy one copy for every album that I want now. Any more I just get black to keep things simple. Sometimes I will get a cool color if I feel like it. Sometimes I get the rarest variant because I think I am cool for doing so. It all just depends on how I am feeling that day.
  11. George Michael covered the song Faith by Limp Bizkit.
  12. I have bought records that I thought would be valuble someday with the intentions of listening to them, but then didn't like it before I even opened the record. It doesn't happen that often, but there are probably 5 records that I have that have never been listened to or even opened. My problem is that I am too lazy to sell my records. I would just rather let them sit than to be bothered trying to sell them on Ebay. I've sold two records on ebay only to have crappy experiences both times. So I am the worst kind of flipper.
  13. Check out strava. It is a cool app. It's more of a bikers "scene" but it is very useful for running as well.
  14. I have a buddy who is into it. He is making around $300 a day or so. Starting to cash out. He just sold a couple of his miners for like $18K each and starting to get out of all of it. He told me that each one used like 80 amps or so. He has been in it for at least 2 years now and did it as a hobby and it has more than paid for itself. He said buying a miner now won't even pay itself off because it is so hyped and flooded now.
  15. I haven't seen any of those movies, can I vote which one I want to see the most?
  16. For me, TBD is where they started to shine with EOSD being my favorite album. Exile is probably my favorite in the "new" era and I definitely understand those who say the songs are hit and miss. However, they have so many amazing songs so that when you go to see them live they can play for a couple hours and will still not play all the songs you want to hear. I personally hate the sound/mix of STWB, so hopefully I will like it now. I am getting a little fed up of them feeding all of us the same music over and over. Live album, top contenders, P&P, and now these box-sets. I really just want to hear new music which hopefully will be sometime this year.
  17. I'm lame. My wife and I were talking about buying a house together and both of us had a mutual agreement that we wouldn't buy a house together unless we were engaged. I woke up one morning with my now wife and was just like......"do you want to get engaged?"....and she was like "yes". "Well, how about we do it today?" We went to a store and picked out a ring and got engaged that day. My wife hates surprises and doesn't like to be the center of attention. She also thinks I have horrible tastes and is pretty picky. When the ring came in, we went to a park and she made me get down on one knee and do it formally. I had only had my grownup job for about 6 months and she was still in dental school so money wasn't flowing in like crazy. I believe I spent around $2500 or so. What you spend on a ring is all relative and anyone who tells you what to spend is wrong. My wife and I both liked spending more on a nice wedding reception (party) than a piece of jewelry as jewelry isn't that important to us. I have a $100 titanium band. I ended up giving her a simple gold band a year later that she could wear under her gloves if she wanted to. We had a 1.5 year engagement and have been married over 5 years and have a beautiful 2 year old daughter, so I must have done something right. I second the opinion of not telling family for 24 hours. Another thing that will ruin the mood is expect people to be catty because you told them after you told so and so......uhhhh. I also am not a fan of people who upgrade their engagement/wedding rings later on. I like how it symbolizes where you were in your life when you got married and I think it is a good symbol for richer or poorer. The only thing that seems reasonable to me is when it is melted down and all of the jewels and metals are reused. Only you really know your own situation. If you think you are being lame and cheap, then you probably are. If you think you are spending too much, then you probably are. If you make the proposal more about you then your spouse and do some elaborate over the top public display when she doesn't like attention, then that is not cool either.
  18. Get stuff for free, pay people minimum wage, sell stuff for profit. Laugh all the way to the bank. Since finding out about this I either throw stuff away, give it away to friends and family, or sell it on craigslist. The way I see it is that goodwill is just a bunch of craigslist flippers but has the people trained to bring in the stuff for them. http://watchdog.org/56129/fl-florida-goodwill-six-figures-for-ceos-less-than-minimum-wage-for-some-employees/ I am also not a fan of the salvation army due to their religious beliefs and anti-gay sentiment. I donate to the united way in our area which is just an umbrella for other local charities in the area and has a reported 90% efficiency rating. Still not 100% though.
