  1. Bummer, the pre-order link is already down. Anyone know where else to get the Demo 7-inch? My local store says they probably will not be obtaining them
  2. I would LOVE to snag a copy of Avenue Q on vinyl. Hilarious stuff!!
  3. Any news when and where the Sun Rays are happening? I REALLY want them, but my pocket book is not deep enough for e-Bay prices.
  4. Well, the vinyl manufacturing process has not been updated since the 50's.... Unless you consider DMM an update
  5. Well, to each their own. My Discwasher brush and fluid kind of "stained" some of my frequently played records. Gave them a "cloudy" kind of look, and there was really no "improvement" to the sound. I found that to really make the records "sound better" and to really get the grit out of the grooves without damaging or staining the vinyl, my VPI 16.5 was the only thing that really "worked" for me. I even found that new records sound a bit better after a cleaning with the unit, using the right fluid. For me, it was worth the $455 price tag that it was in the 90's, and it still works great today. If you are "serious" about collecting vinyl and maintaining a record collection for many decades, I would recommend looking into a good vacuum record cleaning machine. Also remember to follow the instructions for it as well.
  6. Avoid the Discwasher brush, even for new records. I have ruined a few rare records back in the day with one of those, when I started collecting in the 90s. Fortunately, I was able to replace them. You have to use a vaccum powered record cleaning machine. Even new records benefit from an initial cleaning right out of the wrapper. They remove the "mold releasing compound" that keeps the record from sticking to the stamper. You do have to make sure you are using a good velvet covered tube though. I have not tried the Spin Clean unit yet, I have heard some good things.
  7. REALLY looking for the Stone Roses cover album as well. I hope you can find one! If you find two, PLEASE PM
  8. No luck on The Flaming Lips "Stone Roses" here in Virgina. If anyone has access to an extra, I am in line at Blue Groove. I can try and find another RSD title for you when they open. I also still need Elvira "Two Big Pumpkins" if you see that 7 inch as well. Thanks
  9. So looking for the "Stone Roses" covers LP. Sadly, the Richmond store is not one of the stores that will be receiving it. If someone wants another RSD title in trade for the Lips SR vinyl, please PM if you can pick up an extra copy. Thanks
  10. Yeah, I had a clean used copy of this IN MY HAND a couple weeks ago, but put it back thinking it was readily available on becausesoundmatters.com. However, when you tried to put it in your shopping cart, the cart would just show up empty. That said, if someone finds a stash of these, this VC'r needs one too
  11. Ordered! But if someone has one now for sale/trade please PM.
  12. The Feelies - The Good Earth Gave it away, actually. I was not really "feeling" the record when I first heard it. However, now I am on this big Feelies kick and want to listen to the album again. And my Dutch copy of Rush "Permanent Waves" Perfect sound and the uncensored cover. I have yet to find another.... Oh the foolish things I did when I was young
  13. And just went back to order $38 more. Some of the items I removed to purchase next payday are now gone...(Depeche Mode "Exciter," Frightened Rabbit EP) Buy now because with these prices, I don't think many of these LPs are gonna last.
  14. Made an already heavy credit card $300 heavier thanks to this sale! Now to see what actually shows up
  15. Anytime man! Vinyl is a fun and satisfying hobby. I hope you will enjoy the music for many decades to come
  16. Eh, ignore the haters man. As for cleaning, avoid those Discwasher brushes like the plague. Back in the day, I ruined several rare records with one of those things. They don't really clean anything. They just move the dirt around and cloud up the vinyl. Sadly, you have to save your money and invest in a vaccum record cleaning machine, like a VPI or a Nitty Gritty. If you are "serious" about your collection, it is worth selling a few of your rare titles in order to preserve the rest of your collection. I have had many noisy records clean up after a spin on my VPI machine, with the right cleaning fluid. But on the other hand, my Simply Vinyl press of REM "Fables of the Reconstruction" that I paid $30 for, had annoying surface noise on one side, and I bought it new. A VPI cleaning did not remove the noise. So you might just have a bad pressing, sadly. Good luck
  17. Never received the pre-order info from Third Man Records about this. (And I was a Vault member...errrr) If anyone has an extra, please PM! Thanks
  18. Sealed records are a strange beast. I kid you not, I saw a sealed copy of Carpenters "Close To You" with the hype sticker sell for $100 on e-Bay. This is a $1 record, in mint condition at the record fair every month. So you really will not "know" what it is worth unless you put it up on the Bay and sell it, and even then it will vary from week to week. Or, just save it until you buy some rediculously expensive turntable to crack open and enjoy. That is what I am waiting to do with my sealed Carpenters.
