  1. I've still got 4 unanswered emails from them and my order supposedly shipped 15 days ago.

Now imagine everyone that orders from them sending them four emails.... If you're doing a high volume of stuff as a DIY operation, there comes a point where answering people's email questions about their orders hinders actually getting them their orders, y'know?

  2. Congratulations Kev/Seth! Label moves are hectic, but starting fresh is cathartic.

Thanks, Tom!! Looking forward to it.

To be honest, there's definitely more about San Diego than just that movie haha. But seriously, congrats on Topself moving to SD. You're gonna like it here. Beyond being taxed for everything here but that's really just for the weather.   :P

Oh, for sure. We've both visited many a time. I had to make five unique download codes at 1am the night before and thought these were universally cheeky enough — I allllmost went with BURRITO1, BURRITO2, BURRITO3, etc. haha! I am perhaps most looking forward to learning more about the SD music community and how we'll fit in and how we can get involved locally — I know there's more to it than this movie!

bring me with you. i'm over these winters

you need anyone to run your site analytics/digital advertising? haha

I got thissssssssss beep boop bop bop

Seriously, as much as I love that movie, all the bands rolling through doing Anchorman jokes got old really quickly.

I remember Soma had a poster backstage that said "No Anchorman Jokes" with Ron Burgundy crossed out. It was an important thing to have.

    see above!

This is a super cool deal, you guys always go above and beyond when it comes to the discounts and letting us know whats when!

Also an excellent and brave move. I think you guys will be a great fit in a great city with some very great bands ;)

Also you'll be closer to some of your west coast young bloods *cough* special explosion

I know! Really excited to be closer to Caravels, Wild Ones, SPEX, etc. — I just texted Brian from Weatherbox about how hard we are going to hang now. I never get to see these people so it'll be a great change of pace. Thanks!!

This thread and sale alerted me to that upcoming Kind of Like Spitting split LP...which got me googling and alerted me to BRIDGES WORTH BURNING being reissued by Barsuk this January.  :o

These new songs are so so so very awesome. We'll have a new one premiering next week!

Where about in san diego are you moving?

We're actually down here now scouting out office space. We found apartments on the north side of the city.

  3. Will these pop up on the product page? Not sure where else to look.

    Yep!

Was it ever confirmed if the Prawn Settled 7" was gonna go up online?

    It's now up: http://www.topshelfrecords.com/products/536312-prawn-settled

I am honestly so impressed with their server right now.

     B)  ;)

Are things slowly going up one by one? Got one thing I want in my cart, waiting for 2 others!

    Yep! we JUST finished.

Trying to imagine the flood of order combination emails they're getting

    You have no idea.

    THANKS EVERYONE!!

  4. Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but I was wondering if any of you had any advice on the best ways / equipment to use when shrinkwrapping records? We're starting to figure out distribution stuff and since our releases have a ton of inserts with them, it's kinda a thing that we need to start doingggg. Any info or advice is welcome thank uuuuu in advance. x

I'm in favor of the suggestion below, but I know Polyvinyl shrinkwraps all of their releases with no problems — could be worth reaching out to them. They're really nice and approachable and I'm sure would get back to you about it.

not sure if you're committed to shrinkwrapping or if that's something distros require, but these might be an easier alternative

    http://www.sleevecityusa.com/resealable-3-mil-outer-lp-sleeves-pack-of-50-p/9222.htm

Recommended — we use these for records going to our distributors too.

    I hate those resealable sleeves.

A basic sleeve will do the job and is a better idea than shrinkwrapping.

Agreed, for mail order, but many distributors and retailers won't accept records that aren't in sealed polybags / shrinkwrap.

    get normal sleeves orchid tapes!

    see above.

  5. Any idea when this will be available through Topshelf? I want to support them and their label but I'm having trouble waiting. Any longer and I think I'll just have to get one for $23 on Amazon. This album is still so freaking good.

I've been on a metalgaze kick of late, and also keep revisiting the stream on this one.  There's a track in the middle that's got one major hook that earwormed me last week, so I'm likely in on the Black when TS lists them if it's not some stupid $30 shyte.  I was able to use the 20% off on 3 records late August.

I'm just concerned that Topshelf has made 0 effort to import any copies on vinyl, thus far.

Thanks for the info Don.  Hopefully that'll happen sooner than later!

Amazon UK has it for $27 PPD to the US, probably black. Might go that way unless TSR is cheaper or splatter.

    Thanks, Oli!

edit: Black will match my Hollow Realm, just hope "Topshelf" prices. Will pick up some more of those when the new one comes in since they are $8 and still have the Clear and White available.

To me, it sounds like a very natural progression for the band.  They traded in a bit of their technicality for better compositions this time around.  Reverie may be the least "happening" song on the album, but it's one of the more gorgeous songs I've heard this year.  A lot of moments feel like they'd nicely accompany some post-apocalytpic scenery; love the way those desolate vibes tie in with the album art.

Still can't justify that package, though, even if it is available.  I love me some clear-splatter vinyl, but I actually think the black looks a whole lot cleaner with the elegant packaging.  Will buy either variant, either way.  Really hope Topshelf can secure some copies soon – I'd love to spin this.

Man that splatter is nice. But I'm passing at that price. Looks like I'll just wait for Topshelf to get it.

Alright, waiting for TSR it is. Splatter looks pretty sweet but not worth getting the extra stuff with it.

These are in now — sorry it took so long! We have 20 on black. http://www.topshelfrecords.com/products/534264-talons-new-topographics

  6. From Keith (CYLS is handling production of the "Ribbon" graphic novel):

Ok, here is a order status update on your items that you have ordered from either Count Your Lucky Stars Records or Topshelf Records:

    - If you ordered an Picnic shirt, Monster Shirt, or Chrono Trigger shirt from CYLS, those are now in and shipping if the rest of the order can be fulfilled. The "You Will Eventually Be Forgotten "CDs are in and the second press for the LP is still on time and scheduled for early October. So is the third pressing of "When the Sea Became a Giant".

    - IF YOU HAVE ORDERED AN EMPIRE! EMPIRE! GRAPHIC NOVEL: This obviously is taking a lot longer than anticipated, and we are very sorry for that. We have run into a lot of unexpected problems and we would have never have thought these would take so long to get to us. But rest assured that this delay is for good reason and that, in the end, you are going to get the best product we could put out there and will be well worth the wait. We are anticipating these to be sent to us and out to you in approximately 2-3 weeks, which we know is not what everyone wants to hear. Our hands are tied and we just have to wait at this point. We will keep you updated and as new information comes in, we will pass that to you. In the meantime, if you have not gotten your download from your pre-order, please email either CYLS or Topshelf and they will make sure you are taken care of. Again, sorry for the delay. We want this as much as you do.

  7. Anyone have any luck with getting replacement jackets from Topshelf recently? I got this in the mail the other day and it had a pretty big bend in it since it was just taped inside a 12" mailer and the tape had come undone. I emailed them about it but didn't hear back. I also emailed them a couple months ago about getting a Frameworks - Loom jacket since that was all bent out of shape when I got it. Never got a reply to that email either.

Sorry, must have missed these somehow. Saw the You Blue It one come through and we haven't responded yet because we're not sure if we have extra jackets just yet. We'll be in touch soon and look into getting you replacements for both if we have 'em. Usually we do this if you have an existing order or planned future order that we can include them within FYI.
