  1. Damn. This list is so perfect that I own half of these already. Seriously, thanks for sharing this!
  2. Is there a community compiled list of indie rock/grunge/alt-rock/emo titles in Deep Discount’s sale? I want to dig through but I’m too broke to do a proper binge buy and my brain turns to mush after 10 pages and words no matter mean anything to me. I’d love to grab 3-4 solid $5-9 albums and have all the work done by strangers. 🕵️‍♂️
  3. If it’s a $14 record and you want to get through this with the least amount of wasted time and energy, just refund them, block them as a future buyer, and move on. IMO, your sanity and time is more valuable than $14 and the temporary satisfaction of “being right.” If you want to conserve your time and energy but still keep them slightly honest, ask them to return the record for a full refund. Say you recycle damaged records for art projects and will re-use the album, if you feel like you need to explain why you must have a broken record returned. There’s a slight chance, if they’re lying and doing so poorly, they’ll disappear. There’s a chance you get the non-scratched record back. There’s a chance you get a scratched record back. But at least you can feel like you kept yourself and the buyer honest somewhat. If you’re oozing with free time and like doling out vinyl street justice and capturing scammers in the act like it’s your full time paid job (and it doesn’t make you feel anxious and terrible like it does for me), ask them to keep sending you proof (video and pics) until they either reveal they’re lying, get pissed off and lash out, leave you alone forever, or leave you alone so they can work with eBay/PayPal to force you to accept a return for a refund. I’m a dude who prefers options 1 and 2, so I will opt to do anything other than spend time emailing and arguing with someone who has already cost me $14 and a bit of grief. But I do know some people live for going HAM online and doing vigilante law enforcement on scammers and it energizes them instead of depleting their soul. So, good luck and sorry you have to deal with this.
  4. This isn’t their best album but it’s an album recorded by a band that is the best they’ve ever been. The amount of music power they generate from small flourishes and the confidence to shelve one of their defining traits (Matt’s voice) for long stretches is some strong artist flexing. SWB and this one are also their best sounding records as far as getting the whole band to sound live and warm, IMO. My criticism is the interludes and my own personal lack of enjoyment of the opening track and lead single. I always start the album at Quiet Light, although the guest vocal bridge/break on the opening track is A+.
  5. I called PayPal and they refunded me the $6-7 that Universal wouldn’t, as a complimentary dealio for being a longtime member. The agent I talked to was like “...I’ve seen people charge for digital elements and we usually uphold the seller’s policy...but your order was $90 and they won’t give you the last $6...that seems a bit much.”
  6. I’ve long maintained that the bent/crooked record store owners who flips records is a subject ripe for prime time network procedural treatment. “Sometimes, record store owners play dirty and flip records to keep their shop afloat and, when that happens, they’ll be there to catch you in the act. This Fall, meet THE VINYL DETECTIVES.”
  7. Bootleg schemes on eBay are fun. There’s another seller who took a few easy-to-find $20 R.E.M. bootlegs from the 80s, ones with non-specific white labels, and just printed new covers, gave them a different made-up title, and set the price 5-6 times higher.
  8. Nice. I finally had over 20 Bullmoose points so I got this one for $14 shipped.
  9. Got the same error on laptop Safari. But went through on Chrome. Thanks for the heads up!
  10. Anyone else getting errors when trying to buy from the Memory shop via PayPal? Keeps saying “Your payment can't be completed. Please return to the participating website and try again.”
  11. My delayed Dashboard LP jostled free yesterday and is coming Monday. Re-check your tracking, if you too were part of this batch.
  12. The album/song is great...but I’m still broke so I will be watching Discogs like a hawk for a copy under $15.
  13. If you let vinyl collectors cancel their pre-orders, what’s next? Legalizing murder?
  14. My initial thoughts, after reading about their Spotify royalty scheme album, are: a) this is a publicity/prank/inside joke with their fans and whoever wins will just not pay b) this is a publicity/prank/inside joke with their fans and whoever wins will just not pay c) this is a publicity/prank/inside joke with their fans and whoever wins will just not pay
  15. Unfortunately, every thing I sell is from my own collection, mostly from the Great Oblivions Vinyl Buying Splurge of 2014-2017, and it’s all boring, unpopular indie rock and non-collectible 4th tier pop punk...so, this stockx site where people sell vinyl for too much money is not for me. 😞
  16. Mine is broken in half but I don’t collect vinyl for how it looks or plays. I collect vinyl to make a larger point about how everyone on this forum cares more about vinyl and sleeve condition than me and that they should be embarrassed by this.
  17. Only neutral I ever got was someone who left the feedback “please cancel this order” an hour after he placed it. Lol.
  18. The two target demos for Abbey Road are prone to losing/destroying copies around their messy bedroom and/or forgetting they own it on a yearly basis.
  19. I have a friend who plays a fictional character on a show with a crazy fandom and they received death threats when their fictional character double crossed the main heroes for like 2 episodes. Some brains can’t seem to distinguish their personal sense of being/worth/balance from a fictional or artistic universe they enjoy as entertainment or manage their subsequent emotions.
  20. Customer service wise, ETR dude has quickly responded the 2 times I’ve needed help with an order and gladly provided replacements/help. Some of the releases and the way info can be presented (thinking those ‘tribute’ releases that underplay the fact that they’re covers) makes me tilt my head sometimes but his support game is strong, in my experience.
  21. I’m referring more to people who pay but let the invoice sit for a few days. I’m also referring to sellers who welcome holds and are glad to let invoices sit for a week or more before canceling. It’s not purely generational but I anecdotally see it more amongst older collectors and old guard people who run shops. Anyway, as I said, I pay immediately and I let Discogs auto-cancel orders for me after their 4 day minimum. Discogs shoring up that clunky invoice step that allows for delayed payments is a good thing, IMO.
  22. Paying days later seems sort of like a generational thing. I can’t really imagine it in today’s world and I always wait until I have cash to pay and I pay instantly. But there are people who remember the days of waiting weeks for mail orders to arrive and paying by check/cash in an envelope and consider it reasonable to apply those timeframes and quirks to an immediate, accessible world.
