every record i've got from MoV has been pretty rad...

Here’s a picture of the Lillingtons metal box yet to be powder coated very shiny black.
The white L on the top of the inside printed box will show through the L cut out on the top of the metal
box.  The metal box will hold the box set and all the records in this version will be gun barrel gray and will all be
250 gram vinyl…

BTW, I'd stated that the Live in 06 would't be in the box set, it will be.
The live in 06 will be a two sided LP this time for muuuuch better sound quality....

I think it's different to start a collection before you track down a table/speakers/amp, but I don't know what the point is in owning records if you're not going listen to them. There are other ways to support an artist without buying something you're not even going to get enjoyment from. I think Most (not all) bands/musicians want you to get something out of their music.

The whole premise is "screwing over the fan".  Couple things.
 
Why didn't "the fan" get on the website fast enough to place an order?
Why is it somebody else's problem that said "fan" is willing to hand over the extra cash to buy the record?
 
If nobody was willing to buy flipped records, we wouldn't have this "problem", now would we?
 
You know who I blame if I'm late to a record buying party?  Myself.  I can understand being disappointed in yourself for not getting a record fast enough, complaining about others though for your self-induced misfortune?  Seems pretty childish to me...
 
Lastly, do you know who else is to blame for record flipping?  The labels and bands that everyone worships that uses the whole "limited edition" marketing ploy to help push their albums.

Some people spend way too much time worrying about what other people do with their own records.

why anyone would want this album is beyond me.

I'm here at the pressing plant mastering the SACK LP.
This will be out around the same time the Lillingtons box set will also be released.
It will be limited to ONLY 300 copies and all will be pressed on 190 gram RED vinyl.
You'll be able to get them through Interpunk....

There were 1200 Shit Out Of Luck LP's with 300 tour editions to total 1500 and there were 1000 regular CD's with 300 tour editions to total 1300 CD's
I'm wanting the Lillingtons box set to wholesale for around $70.00 but a majority of these will be mail ordered through Interpunk.
All 6 LP's were cut this last weekend and the lacquers were sent off and the plates should be coming back in a couple of weeks.
Spent an hour on the phone (Skype)  last night with Mathew Dunn (the artist in Australia) who's doing the artwork to get everything finalized.
Got the prototype of the box all the LP's will be housed in yesterday and this release will be epic.

something here for the collector nerds.

i think tim would sell more poet's life vinyl than this box...
and if they were really hard up for money all they need to do is an opivy reunion tour...

They couldnt even sell the deluxe box set of Let the Dominoes Fall for 30 bucks at RSD (my store is sitting on five still) and they think they are going to move this? If it was a "best of" they might have some success, but not the whole damn catalog. Hell, make it all the singles at least like the original Green Day set was.

i'd wager they'll be discounting them and trying to get rid of them at next year's RSD

ugh. these reissues have been underwhelming, but can't stop buying just b/c. and i have perfectly good copies of all the original pressings. i have a disease.

i think that only would work if the label has the luxury of sitting on boxes of unsold records for years.
and collector nerds would howl and howl over that w/ only a random shot at getting one, and would end up paying more w/ an even more limited secondary market supply.
and, i think, in the end, interest in buying records from the label would diminish.
buying/selling/trading/listening to records is fun...shit ain't life or death...i'm on Team Chillax
