moodydan reacted to stl_ben in Black Friday RSD - 2015
Yes some things don't sell out and then sit on shelves for years.
Yes other things sell out instantly and are impossible to find.
Easy pass equals people too impatient to wait for a full list of releases. Feel free to say pass when the full list comes out, but when just one or two things leak early it's silly to complain that nothing you want is coming out.
Finally I don't know what to say to the guy complaining that he wishes it was more like old Black Fridays when indie stuff like the Ty Rex covers came out....he did see that that exact thing is on this years list right?

moodydan reacted to danementzer in Decent Vintage speakers?
Comparing vintage speakers to those high-end modern joints is like comparing apples to lamborghinis. I sure like a good apple, but damn, it's no lamborghini...
Now, make your point while comparing another sub $800 speaker and we can really talk.

I was looking for another record and saw it at the Step 1 Music webstore. I just had to buy it, as Noi!se is my new streetpunk favorite band

I don't know who Touche Amore is, but friendship is overrated.

moodydan got a reaction from konk in Favorite 7" you own
Favorite 7" of a band I used to really be into:
Dropkick Murphys - Fire and Brimstone (I searched and searched for this - it's easier to find now, and cheaper)
Favorite 7" that I'm glad to own, but that's not very good:
Off With Their Heads - Fine-tuning the Bender
Favorite 7" that I actually listen to and like:
The Misfits - Night of the Living Dead (Where Eagles Dare is the b-side, and the song responsible for me ever getting into punk, heard it for the first time in 1990. One day, I'll have an original pressing, but my shitty boot is good for now).

moodydan got a reaction from gud in PO: Clutch "Earth Rocker"
If you were wondering, this album is bad ass.
If you like saying, "It's better than they're last few records, because it rocks a little more like the earlier stuff," you will be happy.
If you like saying, "It's only available on black vinyl?" then, fuck you.
It's still got the influence of the last 2 records, but the old edge is there, too. It sounds real nice.
That is my review.

I got the record this weekend too.
Awesome album.
Somewhere between 'Pure Rock Fury' and 'Blast Tyrant'
Better than the last 3 albums combined.
Can't wait to see em again when they come to town!

Not the same, but sort of related...
I sold a record player to a guy in California named Mike Patton. I didn't ask any questions, but in my head, it's that guy.

moodydan got a reaction from waytansea27 in Would you buy? Split 12" with two debut EPs from up coming bands on it?
Yep, you can go fuck yourself. Point was, far too many bands are lumped into that "genre" when it apparently doesn't really mean anything,
But, on topic, if 2 bands were touring together and had a split, I'd pick it up if either band sounded good to me at that show. I wouldn't pick it up on a whim, and I wouldn't pick it up if I didn't like either of the bands at the show.

moodydan reacted to bearchuck in Sansui SR-838 cartridge opinions
Nice. That's a pretty table, and by most accounts a great performer.
Tonearm looks low-to-medium mass (don't quote me on that), so you'd want a cartridge with medium-to-high compliance. Grados should work fine, as should most of the cartridges we discuss on this forum. Here's are a couple threads with some discussion on the subject.
http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=284337
http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=140165
Matching cartridges to tonearms is an interesting science involving math I don't understand and achieving a resonant frequency in the 9 - 12 Hz. range. There's lots of online calculators out there that will do the work for you, and all you need to know if the tonearm's effective mass, the weight of the cartridge and its compliance.
Generally speaking, most of the tonearms discussed here are in the low-to-medium range, and most of the moving magnet cartridges we talk about are good matches. It's when you have a turntable with an ultra-light tonearm - or conversely, something really heavy - that you have to be careful about which cart you choose.

moodydan got a reaction from xjustinxschwierx in Rollins Band End of Silence Demos 2xLP
Agreed! Some of it's a little uneven, but there's a ton of energy in those sessions. Maybe, if this sells, he'll go back and put all of that stuff that was released a few years ago out on vinyl. I'd be in for it!

stoked about this!
i wish they'd press the Come in and Burn complete session, but that would probably be a 4xLP

Bought! I love these demos, and the album that resulted. Actually, the entire Rollins discography is great, in my book; I think it's pretty underrated, or maybe kind of forgotten. Maybe I'm wrong in that suspicion.

Dude, they could do a die-cut tribal tattoo shaped special edition. Even have sweet temporary tribal tats as a limited bonus. 1999, bitch!
