oojavaguru got a reaction from chilltown38 in PO: Jack White - Lazaretto -- "Ultra LP"
Each time I see a comment posted about "noisey" records on various threads, it makes me wonder if people are truly taking the time to clean their records *before* (MOV records come to mind that usually have a lot of lint/debris on them) and after each play, and also cleaning their stylus.  I am sure there are people who do this routinely and others that likely forget--which could cause a lot of these issues (especially when so many people comment "no noise for me" and then the other half say they do...so I find it hard to believe it is a manufacturing defect 99% of the time).  From the New to Vinyl FAQ stickied at the top of this forum (we may need to break it out into its own thread)

    1. How do I clean my records?
Depending on your budget there are several options to keep your records clean. Listed below are some common options from most affordable to most efficient:
    1.
    A. Brush and cleaner fluid ($15)
    B. Anti-static brush ($25-$30)

    2. SpinClean manual cleaner ($75-150)

    3. Record cleaning machine ($560 and up to thousands)

Some people have reportedly been able to clean their records with wood glue:

You'll also want a stylus cleaner. I recommend the ONZOW Zero Dust.

Some people get the job done with a Magic Eraser:

Thanks to these 2 for the downvotes for a friendly reminder post!   You stay classy San Diego.

It was a RSD First aka timed release.  So it should make its way to all other retailers now.

the text message system usually beats the e-mails by several minutes.  I could have purchased this lathe but didn't, as I didn't want to take away an item I knew I'd never listen to or want.  I was able to get the King Buzzo one though, which I was happing about to keep my Melvins collection going.

These VIP lathe cuts are a joke. If they really wanted to do something interesting, they would send invites out to a random X number of VIPs and allow them to purchase the lathe, doing a new random drawing for each release.

I love Joyful Noise, but it's the same deal with the flexi test pressings and even the private stash sales, to some extent. I'm sure it's the same 60-something members who happen to have reliable text service and blazing fast internet that just get these lathe cuts each time.

Pst! You're doing it wrong. You're suppose to quote the last person that quoted the quote until it hits the quote quota. Try again.

Yes, you are correct....for some reason, when you'd copy and paste it from the website into Google it was being read as Chinese Yuan currency (because of the symbol) instead of Japanese Yen.

Ok, so yes, it is $35.  Well i just feel like I lost a few IQ points today...oh well, I'll just blame on years of alcohol.

There was nothing hostile about my post. But my general annoyance stems from the overall enflamed sense of entitlement displayed on this board as of late (not just in this thread), especially with regard to packaging complaints, corner dings, seam splits, shipping policies and practices, etc. Only on this board do you have people consistently complaining about these things and what else labels/distros owe to them once they hand over their money for an album. Let me say, that it's in my humble opinion, you aren't owed anything other than an album in the mail. Condition is not guaranteed, and nowhere does it state that on the sites that you purchase from.
Reading the threads on this board, it's hard to believe that there were once (and still are) people out there who buy records to put them on a turntable and listen to and not because it's on a super cool color, or as a "collector's item" that they deserve to have arrive to them in mint condition. And god forbid if the jacket has a crease or a bend, or an inner sleeve has a split, I know I would have such a hard time enjoying the music if that were to happen to me. I really have a lot of sympathy for all of you and your corner dings.

oojavaguru got a reaction from bungie in REM Unplugged RSD 2014 - Pay stupid EBAY prices or wait...........?
Eh...I doubt there will be that much butthurt.  Those that were able to get theirs on RSD still have the advantage of having the complete set in one package.  The single vinyl releases may have different artwork, etc.

If they had decided to make an identical package, then I could see that argument, but here each person/REM fan wins.

oojavaguru reacted to The Saint in Blink 182 splatter vinyl series Hot Topic exclusive (update posted Jan '15)
    This thread in a nutshell:
    Delays
"Oh, thank god. My wallet needed a break."
    Release date approaches
"Travis, can you tell us what stores are getting this? "
"What time does Hot Topic put up their releases? I can't miss this. Is it right at midnight?"
    Record is available
"Hot Topic's international shipping rates suck."
"These are already up on eBay for double the price."
    "Has anybody gotten theirs yet?"
    "Mine had a seam split."
"People who are sending out packages at Hot Topic suck."
Small lull period when a bunch of new people join to post about how they're Blink-182's biggest fan, and they can't wait for the next release. Oh, and how they want Flyswatter on vinyl or a splatter variant of +44 or Box Car Racer.
Repeat. (Let me know if I missed anything)

This isn't discussion, just a smattering of shallow opinions. Discussions usually consist of more than "This band sucks now. Totally blame his wife for that." You posters all just come off as whiny little babies, that's all. Even with your "comebacks," you just come off as petty and sarcastic, rather than retort with perhaps a decent form of discussion?

I guess I just miss the way the boards used to be, when it was more than this trend-hopping bandwagon. This message board used to be a place where everyone came to have a good time and talk about rad records that they liked. Now it's just shit-talk and gossip. I wish the alternate board had worked out.
