The Vinyl Deals Thread (non-Amazon)
yes chef replied to itsgoodtobefree's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Finally tried the hack where I added a $50 item to get to the free shipping threshold and then cancelled the item after checking out. Free shipping remained. -
if they just made the singles into an EP or made a short album, this would have been a banger release. there's just a huge gap in quality/excitement between the singles and the whole album.

there's a lot of good stuff already discounted that the 20% can be stacked on. now it's just asking myself if i want to feel stupid paying $12 for shipping or buying $40 more dollars worth of records to get free shipping 😅 -
Guys you are all so fucking dumb they are just celebrating 311 Day.

Best Charlotte, NC record stores?
yes chef replied to Willow_Tree_Records's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I haven't been to Charlotte since I was like 10 years old, but I've gotten a bunch of stuff online from Lunchbox Records. Also, I like this label Acrobat Unstable, who are from NC and had some record shopping videos at Lunchbox and it looks so sick -

I, personally, was debating setting an alarm and getting worked up about getting a copy, but reading all that stuff helped me decide against it. -

new EP coming out tonight. will watch the Counter Intuitive store for a PO. -
This was a part of the entire office's listings thru an auction house. Like, that company auctioned off office supplies, furniture, appliances, and this was treated the same as the microwave oven they were selling. So there was absolutely zero thought or strategy behind selling it.

Thinking about the Victory classics it seems like this guy came out pretty light. I’m assuming ADTR is where he will see a big recoup.

Did this get posted anywhere yet lol https://www.noecho.net/features/victory-records-vault-auction-story

I saw Mannequin Pussy this past weekend and it was really incredible. Easily the best performance I've seen "post-COVID" Tigers Jaw later this week. Will be my first time seeing them headline.

Topshelf's distributor is Redeye in the US- that's who gets their new releases into record stores. Awesome Merch did their mailorder and housed their inventory. Distribution is kinda like a 101 thing to know about records (especially if you're on a message board about it lol.) But you've clearly been confidently ignorant this whole thread, so...

They literally cannot make money for the foreseeable future. They have a staff and royalties to pay. The way they make money is currently locked up from them and it's of no fault of their own. Kevin says in the post they were going to drive out and move their shit, but were told they can't get their shit. One month of zero income for small businesses is enough to press the panic button and start laying people off. This is a totally appropriate time to ask for help. Labels and bands have Kickstarted at way way less deserving times than TSR right now. It's really fucking weird to see someone questioning the morality of this.

Best/Worst Customer Service from a Distro/Label?
yes chef replied to silentgods's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Has anyone had experience with Bandbox? I went in on their $100 prepaid subscription and then I got charged $29 for my first record for some reason. I reached out and they told me I have two accounts. Which, doesn't make sense... because then I would have gotten two records this month. -

feel so crazy to be someone who'd buy every dumb fucking piece of music they'd shit out to not even feeling compelled to get their last three releases. if this was 2016 lineup live album, i'd be all over it, but they sound so neutered live now. it's not even a "i cant get into the new stuff" problem, they just literally just the sauce (the sauce being their OG members/best guitarists and songwriters). -
The cardboard cassette mailers rock. They would give me peace of mind if I were sending out a shipment of tapes. If you are charging for shipping yourself, I'd simply charge enough for shipping and handling costs to cover the cost of them. Just be transparent about why you'd might be charging $5 to mail a tape and people would be appreciate knowing they're getting safe packaging.

i've had tapes arrive smashed to shit in bubble mailers. you put cardboard around the tape in bubble mailers to protect.
