Thread is getting good... I'd like to see this lot of records!

It's #56 of 100 on white vinyl and isn't a 10". It's real. I grew up in Brooklyn and my brother is 15 years older than me. He went to a ton of shows in the mid/late 80's through the 90's until moving to the west coast in 2002.

The idea that European pressings universally sound better than US pressings is nonsense.

I don't have a ton of interest in the series, but can't pass it up for that price.

My point was that they were previously a format that were considered cheap, fun items for bands to quickly get made for tour and sell for a few bucks/donation, but have now also been taken on board by labels that need to factor in things like "advances", "radio campaigns" and "publicists", which is in turn driving up prices.

i feel like a similar thing has happened before with a different format, but...

It's funny how tapes started to make a comeback as a cheaper, quick turnaround alternative, usually priced at $1-5, and now they're working their way up to $8. In a year or two they'll be $15-20 and a bunch of the original tape labels will all be complaining that they can't get their tapes manufactured no more cause every other label jumped on the tape wagon too.

Crazy how all this could be avoided if people simply didn't listen to shitty music made by shitty people.

What this topic comes down to is people who have an understanding of how the world works vs manchildren (and real children, likely) plugging their ears and whining "PEOPLE SHOULD DO WITH THEIR OWN PROPERTY WHAT I THINK IS FAIR"

You just described the beautiful hypocrisy of Vinyl Collective. The lack of self awareness from the majority of the members here is astounding. 

I'd argue a lot of people are still balls deep into variant collecting, just look at how many friggin' repress threads there are on the first couple pages of this very board.

This album is pretty good. Its not good enough to warrant being every 7th thread on this board and people building bootleg shit for its repress

Personally I think the way variant collecting used to work was fun. Possibly getting a mailorder color, hunting down variants in stores, working out trades with other collectors... The hunt was what made it fun.
 
These days you just drop $100 preordering 5 copies at a time. Nothing fun or exciting about that.
