  1. For $1k you could buy this or a VPI Nomad... hmmm.... which is the better deal...
  2. I loved the first record when it came out (holy crap, that was 27 years ago. I'm old as fuck). I was kind of "eh" on the second. By the third one, I was over it. His voice is completely shot, now.
  3. Danzig stopped putting out good music in 1990, or at least that's when I stopped caring about his new music. I can't imagine how bad this must be. EDIT - I guess this is a covers album. Even worse.
  4. That's why I bought the R300's. My room is too large and my listening position is too far back. When I compared the two at a local shop, I was torn between the two and went with the LS50's hoping (but not sure) they would work in my larger room. The R300's with the larger, dedicated woofer and 3 dB more sensitivity should fill the room a bit better than the LS50's.
  5. I just bought a pair of KEF R300's off Audiogon. I'm hoping that they have everything I like about my LS50's with more power and bass punch.
  6. It's kind of ironic that they chose to do that Plimsouls song, considering all the Goo Goo Dolls talk that surrounded this band when they started.
  7. I have a pair of black oak Monitor Audio RX1 speakers for sale. I bought them new a little over a year ago and are in near mint shape. I've upgraded to KEF LS-50's so these have to go. I compared the two. The were closer in sound quality than I'd like. The RX1 have more bass punch and a lot of people might prefer these to the LS-50s. $350 shipped and PPed in the domestic US. They will ship with the original box and manual. Pics to come soon.
  8. It sounds slightly better than the Plain pressing.
  9. I love this band, but does anyone else find it weird that James is in his 40's singing songs about being "young" and shit?
  10. Matt Pryor (the Get Up Kids dude) has a pod cast where he interviewed Chris Crisci a few months ago. They talk about the Old Canes and how they're going to be working on new material soon. So MAYBE sometime before we die in the zombie apocalypse, but I'm not holding my breath.
  11. When I first put on the Island press the first thing I noticed was the sibilance. When I compared it to the Plain pressing, the Plain pressing still had sibilance, but it was a little less pronounced. It's safe to say it's due to the slight dullness in the Plain pressing since it's also present on Spotify.
  12. Everything from this band is great (with maybe the exception of "Soar", which was always my least favorite). Clumsy is their best, in my unhumble opinion.
  13. For anyone concerned that they used the same plates or mastering as the Plain version, the new version says "Mastered By Capitol" in the matrix. EDIT: Compared both my blue vinyl Plain copy against the new Island pressing. There isn't a huge difference in sound. The Island may be slightly better (a little more clear without being overly bright), but it's not a huge difference. The Plain packaging is MUCH nicer. I'll probably be selling my Plain copy.
  14. I picked up a copy of "Blue Guitar" today at a local shop. I haven't compared the sound, however the packaging on the Plain version is much nicer.
