  1. Looks like for us the US, it got pushed back again. At least according to Best Buy, who I preordered mine through.
  2. I believe Thomas is confusing terms. Unshielded wire is your run of the mill wire; a wire surrounded with an outer jacket (normally plastic). Shielded wire surrounded by an inner jacket, a metal shield (it can be foil or braided wire) and then an outer jacket. Bare wire is just metal, with no jacket. An RCA cable would be shielded, a speaker wire would normally be unshielded. The ground wire doesn't need to be shielded. Go to Home Depot and get some 18, 20, or 22 gauge copper wire. Good luck on your project.
  3. I bought my first real turntable (a Music Hall MMF-5) 12 years ago and having to take off the glass platter to go from 33 to 45 drove me insane. So much so, I sold it and bought a VPI Scout since the motor is exposed.
  4. This is why using a surround sound receiver is a bad idea for vinyl.
  5. I've never attempted to set up a Stanton, but aligning a cart is never a fun, easy experience. I'm sure it can be done. At the end of the day, they make DJ tables and I would never recommend one to some for listening.
  6. You people are nuts. You don't just install a cartridge and line it straight with the head. You adjust the cartridge to an angle using a protractor. Therefore, you don't necessarily need the arm or the head to be angled. This is turn even with the Stanton. Look at picture and note that the cart is mounted on an angle. This is infinitely better than a Crosley.
  7. This is incorrect. You actually get better fidelity out of 45 RPM than 33 1/3 RPM. There are "audiophile" pressings of LP's that play at 45 RPM.
  8. Man, I loved "Silent Alarm" so much when it came out and I thought they had so much promise. Everything after that was downhill.
  9. Assuming you're looking in the price range of the Elex-R, I'd look into the Rogue Audio Sphinx 2.
  10. Based on the matrix on disk 1, it's the same pressing. Or at least the same plates.
  11. I got mine today. I was surprised. It probably cost them more in shipping that I paid for the record!
  12. I have three extra copies of the Coheed. $35 shipped and PPed. Message me if you want one.
  13. Is the Coheed hard to find? The local shop I went to this morning had a stack of them.
  14. I picked up a copy locally today. It looks exactly like the original I used to have.
  15. May I ask why you're leaning towards the Technics over the Pro-ject?
  16. My suggestion is to sell the NAD 1600 and use that money plus your budget for the power amp and buy a new decent integrated like a Cambridge Audio Topaz AM10 (assuming you have sensitive enough speakers) or a used Marantz PM5005 or something. After using a vintage stereo for years and just ditching it about a year ago for something modern, vintage stereos are a headache.
  17. I picked up a copy at a local shop today and I listened to the first LP. Side A is slightly noiser than your average record. The B side is pretty bad. Not unlistenable, but close.
