I will never understand the process behind deciding what songs make and get cut from an Alkaline Trio album.
Well, if they ever do a Remains Volume 2, it'll likely end up being the closest thing we ever get to a Dan-centric Alk3 album.

This. I can practically roll my Darkness LP into a tube and drink chocolate milk through it, yet it sounds phenomenally better than almost all of my more recent, 180g+ records.

There was supposed to be a DVD of those Low Level Owl shows a year or two back. It was said to be some sort of anniversary or reflection thing, with interviews and videos of the guys making that album plus footage from the tour they recently did where they played both volumes in their entirety. Again though, this just kinda disappeared over time.

I'm loving the Appleseed Cast love in here, especially the Two Conversations praise. Most of the time I seem to read about this album being regarded as their worst by fans. It may not be as "out there" as LLO, but everything they had done up until this point - the loops, the keys, the textures, the atmosphere, the environment - is all here, but just layered within very digestible tracks. It is an artform itself to be able to take all those pieces and turn it into an immediate and succinct album. 
 
I've been trying to push for a Peregrine double LP repress for awhile now. While I own a copy of the previous press, it just does not do the album justice. I asked Graveface about a repress sometime in 2011, and he told me one was likely coming late 2011-early 2012. Obviously that didn't come to fruition. I mentioned it again sometime last year on Graveface's facebook, and I think the response was that while its been discussed, there are no immediate plans in the pipeline. A wickedly colored double LP of Peregrine sitting next to all my other Graveface-released Appleseed Cast albums (the Mare Vitalis double LP looks incredible as well) would truly make AC the pride of my collection.

This is a two sided topic:
 
1) For those of you that don't know, Retribution Gospel Choir have a 3rd LP coming out January 22nd. I had no idea until now, so maybe this is news to some as it was for me. 
 
2) Does anyone know of a vinyl release for this? The news on this album is apparently very scant. I'll post the description below, but I couldn't find preorders, format availability, or anything like that when I tried searching.

Hey this is Chris.  I understand the sentiments, and frankly I would have a ‘believe it when I see it’ outlook on this too.  However, for the record, this project will be fulfilled, and currently is the ONLY recording project that I am working on.  I will not be taking on any other recording projects until both this series AND the next Old Canes album are done.  That means they will be done soon. 
 
My question is, would it have been better that, when recording and listening back to the songs, and not being happy with what I have yet… that I go ahead and release that?  That’s not how I work.  I don’t just write some words and call it a day.  I want those words to not only say what I want, but to sound musical and sound good recorded.  That means sometimes I scrap songs and rewrite them over and over until I find the right words.
 
I’m not going to put out something I don’t like, and I won’t know it until I hear it back recorded.
 
Add to this, as I mentioned in my update, is that for the last 2 years I have been constantly bouncing between, work, family, freelance projects, and the new Appleseed Cast album.  It’s passed in a blink.
 
With my update what I was trying to express was that I fully recognize that the 7” series has taken way too long to fulfill.  I appreciate everyone’s extraordinary patience.  My sole focus right now is to record my Old Canes songs.  To tell you the truth I am very excited about them.

When the summer12 and sub codes went out it was stated that they don't work for pre-orders or distro items. I couldn't figure out how to save on buying the split with the tape, but I'll live without that dollar.

If your setup is worth less than a couple thousand dollars, there is no point to ripping vinyl to your computer anyway. If it exists on CD/digital, any janky MP3s from some random Russian blog are going to sound better than the sound of that shitty plastic needle scraping across that shittily-pressed, cut-from-the-CD-master vinyl. If it only exists on vinyl, the odds are good that someone has done a better job than you at ripping it already and it's just out there waiting for you.
I really hope there aren't people whose iTunes libraries are made of rips they did with their USB turntables, repeatedly muttering to themselves that it has to sound better, because it's vinyl. I think that would break my heart.
