Good luck with the hunt! I'd love to own one of these someday, but the prices are nuts now.

to unseal, or not to unseal? that is the question!
mitchard replied to williemyers's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Yup. The listing definitely would need to indicate that the album is "presumed mint" and no returns/refunds. But still expect to have issues with the seller (bad feedback, probable PayPal dispute) if they chose to open it, and there is an issue. Especially if you list it as one pressing based off the limited information you have from the outer sleeve, and it turns out to be a different pressing entirely. With these mass produced major label releases from the 60s-80s, it can sometimes be incredibly difficult to determine the exact pressing with the outer info alone, and you need to verify matrix numbers, center label designs, etc to really be sure. Also, I don't know if this has been debunked as finicky vinyl dude pseudo-science yet, but wasn't the general consensus that decades in shrink poses concerns serious for warping? -
What's your White Whale record?
mitchard replied to raidenradio's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Ok, it's been two years. Time to update haha. I finally acquired a copy of the Stalemate test last year! Randomly, someone commented on the main release on Discogs, saying they had one to sell. Got lucky! Still need this to wrap things up: Undertow - Control 7" Test Pressing - Overkill Records (Seattle, WA) 1994 -

PO: Tenacious D - The Who Medley 7"
mitchard replied to axisrecapital's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Watched the video last night, and enjoyed it. Despite my love for the band, I honestly don't think I'd ever listen to this on vinyl if I bought this. The $20 tag for a 7" only helped solidify my decision not to buy it... though I do appreciate the cause they are raising funds for. -
It was a joint release by Geffen/DTR. Probably complicates rights, though.

Fueled By Ramen 25 Years vinyl
mitchard replied to meatrocket8's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I received mine from the Paramore webstore a few weeks back. It's definitely the US version, and not the European pressing that was originally popping up in the states. Might be safe to order from there... though this pressing sounds like hot garbage IMO.- 312 replies

The new single is great on the instrumental side. Lyrics are pretty bad, though. -
Bright Eyes - Dead Oceans Reissues & Companion EPs
mitchard replied to CeCeCe's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
The new version of Falling Out of Love at This Volume is a jam, but the original has always been one of my favorite Bright Eyes songs. The Collection of Songs EP is still the only one I really felt like I needed to order. Keep passing when I have the opportunity to grab this others... they just haven't done anything for me. Still excited to see what they decide do with the rest of the albums, though. -
Bright Eyes - Dead Oceans Reissues & Companion EPs

My Collection EP from Dead Oceans/Secretly is now delayed for a few weeks due to "global vinyl pressing delays". 🙃 -
Yes. Vinyl is stupid and so am I. Really though, the more recent spikes in pricing has made me consider whether I really need it in a lot of cases. I'll often times buy something based on liking a couple singles or a good live performance, just to check it out the rest while supporting the shop, label, or band. Doesn't hurt too bad at $20-$25 or whatever for a single LP, but as prices keeping inching higher, it'll be hard to continue justifying it to myself.
