  1. Yeah, but I sold a beat up original for $55 a few years ago. That ain't bad for a brand new, dead stock copy. While the price is high, it's market value for an actual original pressing. I'm surprised they didn't make that fact clearer when promoting it. Totally thought these were represses for a second. Also, I'd rather the band profit on the markup for an old record than someone flipping it on ebay.
  2. I'm sure they will. They just sent out social media updates too, so hopefully it gets around. I suppose anyone searching for info online would come across it eventually.
  3. Definitely for them. I can wait a bit longer. But that's a huge loss of potential merch sales, people who went to the show and didn't know about the pressing previously.
  4. Here's the message btw: Message from Cartel: To our fans who have purchased a copy of Chroma on vinyl: we have some pretty crappy news. The fear of every band and label that puts a record into production for vinyl has become a reality for us, as our pressing plant notified us that they’ve run into a manufacturing error with Chroma. While we were hoping that this would be only a minor setback and that we would still have the records in time for the beginning of the Chroma tour, due to Record Store Day forcing record plants around the US (and the world) into operating beyond maximum capacity, we are now being told that our records won’t be getting sent out to us until mid-May at this point. We asked if there is ANY way for us to get the records before then, even if that meant paying extra out of our pockets, but we’ve been told there is no way to speed this up. We are extremely disappointed, but since it is something that is out of our control, we are trying to accept that fact and work with what has been handed to us. If you ordered a VIP package that included the Cartel Chroma record, through Prekindle, your record was originally set to be picked up at the show. Due to manufacturing delays, your record will now be shipped( at no cost to you) to the billing address associated with the card used during purchase. If you would like to change your shipping address, visit [http://goo.gl/forms/tyLqqQm4IZ]. Only fill out this form if you wish to have your record sent to an address other than your billing address. Please note that all request must be submitted by Friday, April 3, 2015 5:00pm (CST) Again, we are extremely sorry about this even though it is not under our control, but want to do what we can to make it right by you. If you have any questions/want to vent/etc, please email our manager Rohan at [email protected] and we will work on taking care of you. - Will, Nick, Joseph, Kevin (Cartel)
  5. Just got an email about the pressing delay. Bummed for them that they won't have the records for the shows. But hey, free shipping for my preorder that I planned to pick up.
  6. Not saying liking 80's music is ironic. But I question the demand of a hits compilation from that was pressed in high quantities on vinyl, and can be found pretty easily for cheap.
  7. It's not a huge deal. Plus, if it's got a large spine, putting it under books won't help. If you have access to a paper press, I'd give that a shot. Especially if there is minimal spine contact.
  8. Definitely curious what cross-section of collector would buy this in a non-ironic circumstance. I bet you can still find a ton of them in thrift stores in the UK.
  9. It does vary from plant to plant, but I have noticed it. Clear always sounds really great to me. And a lot of the older color records I have from 40+ years ago sound great. Mostly red vinyl for some reason. QC is probably a bit more difficult to maintain now given that there's no more press manufacturers. The machines are a patchwork of custom machined parts to function. GZ and Pirates Press made one, but I never really liked their quality. Every once in a while, there's some damn sand on the records. I think I first noticed it on the first pressing of Blacklisted's Heavier Than Heaven.
  10. That's just not true. I think most people just don't tend to notice. White can be pretty noisy. The glow in the dark records I've pressed have definitely got some noise. This guide from Gotta Groove is pretty helpful, I know people have posted it a bunch but here it is again: SOUND CHARACTERISTICS OF VINYL COLORS* (Surface noise 1= quietest / 8 = noisiest) 1. Standard Black 4. Transparent Colors (Blue, Green, Clear, Gold [orange], Transparent Red, Coke Clear, Fluorescent Colors) 6. Non-Mixed Opaque Colors (Pink, Red, Yellow, Violet, Brown) 7. White 7. Opaque Mix (Mixing opaque and translucent color(s) in particular; and also tend to have visible “staining” after a few hundred records, which can be seen in certain light). 7-8. Random Color / Recycled Color Shades 8. Split Color / Splatter Color / other hand-made colors 8-10. Glow In The Dark / Glitter Records * Every record runs differently, and generally speaking, the louder the recording the less noticeable any “plastic noise” will be. Turntables also can track color vinyl differently than black — some people report skips on color copies which do not happen on the same record if pressed on black vinyl (typically on lower-end turntables). Some people say the music itself can sound slightly different on color versions vs black versions of the same record (since the grooves are the same, this likely has more to do with the turntable/cartridge being used). In any case, there are tons of each of these colors in the marketplace, and many people do not seem to notice/mind the differences. But, we try to be as up-front as possible in information sharing to help you make the best decision for your project. If your utmost concern is a very quiet pressing, then you are probably better off pressing black vinyl. Regardless of color, you can opt to purchase additional stamper sets to have us change them out more frequently — since stampers wear over the course of many pressing cycles, this can help yield a more consistent pressing throughout a production run. There are also some things that the lacquer cutting engineer can do to help yield a quieter pressing. Please contact us with any questions.
  11. Get Disowned is definitely worth any wait through Hot Green. It's such a great album. Really excited that Saddle Creek signed them, perfect fit. Can't wait for the new album.
  12. Deathwish is taking over mail order for React! http://store.deathwishinc.com/category/REACT.html
  13. Oh hell yeah, you can hear it too. Love the feedback and noise he brings, it's like a melody on it's own.
  14. Yup, I sold off my entire collection to fund the label in 2011. I loved those records, but they went to great homes and it allowed me to move forward. Also, moving between apartments became a lot easier, haha. Oh yeah, I also sold a copy of Wood/Water. I had some damn good records. I got both Nothing Feels Good and Wood/Water for about $10 bucks total. This was around 2004 while working at a record store.
  15. Stoked for this, got into them just as Gossamer got released because my brother's old band Pacific Air toured with them. Digging the previews.
  16. Well, yeah. Most record places don't pay a huge amount. They're a business that needs to resell your records make a profit to pay their employees, they need to need to make room for that in the price. It's decent to shop at though. If I sell records, I use eBay or amazon. It's worth the additional effort. I've been meaning to try discogs sometime...
  17. Probably the best record package I've ever received. Ordered all the variants, because I dig them a lot. Came with a condom, dental dams and a handwritten X-Files postcard from their Bass player Sue. Bridge 9 also threw in a free Verse CD, a sucker and a calendar.
  18. I ordered all the variants, 'cause I like this band a lot and it's been a while since I did that. Came with a condom, dental dams, and a handwritten X-Files Postcard from Sue. Bridge 9 also sent a CD copy of Verse's Bitter Clarity, Uncommon Grace, a lollipop, and 2015 calendar. Sooo stoked on all this.
  19. I'm just stoked that Deathwish is moving so many copies of such a rad album.
  20. In retrospect, that aside in the Bob Odenkirk interview about overstaying your welcome seems very fitting. I liked having him as a constant in my tv schedule though.
