why do you have a problem in avoiding a band that works with someone who covered up rape until they apologize to the victim and cease all connections with JJR?

oh come on.  people keep saying shit like "good thing I don't listen to these bands" or "these bands suck anyways" but this isn't about avoiding something.  It's not about you. 
 
That dude still sexually assaulted a girl and a bunch of other bands and influential people in the scene denied that it ever happened.  This is about not supporting bands and labels filled with rape apologists and offenders.  It's not about "oh thank god i don't like this music anyways, so I"m off the hook".  You don't need to like the bands to understand why this is horrible and people need to stop making this about themselves by ignoring the situation and just commenting on their musical tastes.
 
this isn't directed at you - a lot of people have been doing this and it's been irking me.

Today a cool thing happened. I work at a church in Decatur, GA and I was finishing up editing some guitar overdubs for a Christmas album, but I left the hard drive with all of the tracks on it in my car. As I was walking through the lobby out to the parking lot I saw someone who greatly resembled Chris Freeman from Manchester Orchestra walking past me. I did a double take but kept walking. Later I had to go get something out of the a/v closet and into the room next door walk Andy, Robert, and Chris. So definitely Manchester Orchestra. At this point I am wondering if I have fallen asleep at my desk and am having one of those vivid dreams where you're at work and your favorite band shows up in tuxedos. Turns out they were groomsmen in a wedding. I was "that guy" and went in and introduced myself and they were very gracious and didn't make me feel like an ass for being a fanboy. Very cool dudes. So yea. Cool thing. How was your day?

She didn't become who she was the moment she told everyone her chosen name.  She transitioned because she was that person, not to become that person. 
 
The proper pronoun to use in the past is the one you use now, unless she has told you otherwise.
