  1. Yeesh - tough crowd/thread, but then "you play in the mud, you get dirty". Seriously though, there needs to be an appendix to Muphry's Law, wherein a critique of someone's lack of humor sheds an equal amount of light on the critic's deficiency in same.
  2. "When an album is pressed on yellow I actually like hearing the yellow." victimofadriveby = Moonbeams???

  4. trying to get in on this before it fills up with a yawn of BN/Coheed ppl. mine would be: Eddy Dixon 'Relentless' 7" - supposedly this only exists as a bootleg & was distributed by Hellhammer Records out of Germany, but I've never seen any proof. It's the song that opens the film 'The Loveless' (good movie, btw) or The Jazz June 'The Medicine' TestPress 2xLP. I've been told by folks who have copies that I will never accomplish this. Undeterred, but kind of bummed.

  6. @16oh => that begs the question, how common/rare ARE they? the average punk record sees 5 to 10 tests, but that's for the initial run. i would guess that as barebones an operation as $$T runs, they've def gone through more than one set of plates for most releases. in this case we're talking about a record that's been in print for like 25 straight years one one label, and in one-off runs from others internationally. i'd wager that there are between 50 and 100 tests of My War out there, at least half of which are from the $$T pressings. anyone care to debunk that?

  8. Dear Greg, Here are some ideas for 2012's $$T reissues: Minutemen 'Double Nickels' 2x5" + 2x10" pic disc box set (5" nickel & 10" dime pic discs) Husker Du 'Zen Arcade' game. up to 4 players! (side-scrolling beat-em-up ala Simpsons) Descendents 't'ALL-t'. a tall-t style shirt with ALL the lyrics, available in XL-XXXL. Black Fag Mesh Shorts! show off your 'six-pack' in these Rollins' approved hotpants. Bonus: All white band merch is now tie-dye! 'Just Say No' to Mayan Bummergeddon!!

  10. "the more you ignore me, the closer i get.."
  11. sadly i will prooooooobably pull the trigger on these. when's the "omg 30th anniv" edition of Damaged gonna drop? or Zen Arcade on color. give the people what they want in lethal doses
  12. i'm kind of shocked by this, considering that it constitutes something of a 'business decision' by SST, who as far as I can tell have been content to keep an open edition of most releases for over a decade now with no variants (aside from the bizarre multi-format Black Flag eps, ie Six Pack on 7" AND 10"). not knocking the label, but it clearly hasn't been a labor of love for a loooong time. that hasn't stopped each successive generation of kids from picking up 'Brains, 'Flag, Huskers, & Minutemen lps. distributors clearly keep ordering, & those releases seem to cover expenses, a small staff, their Geocities bill, and all the cat food Greg must buy. so why now?
  13. I live here. Not going to shows at the moment, as I've got a 3month old baby at home, but I've probably brushed past most of y'all at Reckless (wicker park).
  14. I think Nic pretty much hit the nail on the head. 'Mainstream' media needs that adverti$ing money to keep the lights on, and those advertisers tend to be publicly traded companies in need of shareholders. In this case I think the lack of coverage has been a boon to the folks on the ground, as it's allowed them to work a truly grassroots network that's now starting to bear fruit. As far as the claim of a lack of 'leadership' or 'message', I see that as an advantage too. Calling themselves the "99%" is the only real message they need. When you're the majority, you don't need leaders. Lest you forget, the Tea Party started out as a bunch of folks angry at the bail outs. Self-appointed leaders are what turned it into the ugly motherfucker it is now.
  15. Next order of business: convincing them of the overwhelming demand for an Until Your Heart Stops repress.
  16. seriously SO pissed. had it in my cart, tried to check out through paypal, kept getting errors, now it's still in my cart but listed as 'not in stock'. Fuck Y'all.
  17. hoping Reckless gets the hook-up with the gold. I know they frequently get the mailorder colors, but we'll see..
  18. Wafflehouse* - "Olympia". killer album from these Michigan dudes (including the rhythm section of Rescue), the whole thing manages to throw the best parts of ATDI, early Coheed, & Cap'n Jazz together without being terribly derivative of any of 'em. falling-apart-at-the-seams pop perfection. the cd came out like a decade ago, luckily Justin (ForgeAgain) also thinks it's aged well, as he did a small run of 112 LPs a couple years back. somehow he STILL HAS COPIES available. =D
  19. ^will check ZZZZ out. Sweep were good live, the post-Sweep band Check Engine had a KILLER album, and World/Inferno's sound -although copied to death by lameasses- is worth taking influence from.
  20. not to troll, but this thread is 'tarded like Chernobyl babies. SPOILED ones. these people aren't your friends. "[they] owe you nothing, you have no control". 99% of the time it's "the fans" -not the musicians- who cross the line, expecting or demanding things they have no right to. I think it's awesome that you have a deep, synaesthetic relationship with a song/album/band, and maybe the band feels that way about their work, too, but that's the end of it. musicians, artists, etc provide a good or service in exchange for cash. -they record/release music in a number of formats, you pay to hear it in perpetuity (or d/l it for free). -they perform music, you pay to see it (or stay home reminiscing about that time they played your friend's basement before their first LP). -they sell memorabilia, you pay for a souvenir of the experience (or rely on your memory of it). ANYTHING anyone feels they've got coming to them beyond that is bullshit. that said, the $1 thing is a legitimate grievance since the band broke the terms they themselves set. WHY they did this I can't speculate, nor do I care as it's A DOLLAR.
  21. until the boxes with a few hundred on blue turn up, yeah
  22. John is an excellent human being. Best of luck to whatever he's up to next.
  23. I still wish the stuff from the 'Insound Tour Support' cd would get a vinyl release. I've always felt it was their best shit. 'Grace' is better than 'Echoes' but still pales in comparison to their Gravity-era stuff. Blah blah first 7" blah..
  24. this had me smiling like an idiot. well played, sir.
