I love the budgie. It definitely took a little while for it to "burn in" (or more likely for my ears to get used to it) but I couldn't be happier with it. Great clarity, clear highs and smooth lows. It pairs excellently with my Ortofon 2M Blue, and Shannon Parks, the designer, is super helpful with any and all questions! I do have speakers, a pair of Polk Audio RTI A1 and the Polk Audio 111 Subwoofer, but these days I do most of my listening after my gf goes to sleep so my ATH M50x get a lot more run time than the speakers - and those headphones are no joke, crazy clear and comfortable.

I just upgraded a few components of my setup (including storage furniture). I figure I have pretty much maxed out the turntable, so that'll be next but for now I am pretty happy with the sound: Pro-Ject Debut III Pro-Ject Speed Box S Ortofon 2M Blue Parks Audio Budgie Maratz SR-63

Loving the wild artwork on this jacket as well. I've got OG pressings of both albums but am too much of a BvS fan to let this go, psyched for the release.

To echo others thoughts on this thread, it's a fantastic album and the pressing does it justice. I haven't been 100% on board with the last two albums but this is a return to the good Owen I remember. The fact that S. Carey produced also intrigued me and I think you can hear it throughout the record.

I also just upgraded to a 2M Blue and had to get the counterweight. Henley's price is best but they don't deliver outside of the UK, I just picked mine up here: $20 plus $12 to 2-day ship it http://www.musicdirect.com/p-5019-pro-ject-standard-counterweight.aspx I'd just make sure (for anyone else looking) you make sure it's the right part. For example the eBay listing above says it's the 75g weight but the part number is for a smaller weight that wouldn't be heavy enough. Cheers.
