  1. I've also been considering a tube upgrade as of late. I'd love to hear which tubes you are most interested in - I'm a tube noob but there are so many options and opinions out there it's tough to know what's what.
  2. Just snagged the clear/gold variant, very excited for this release. The guitar work is top notch on prior releases and it sounds like they keep that going strong based on the single.
  3. For those looking to save some money, I'll agree with others that the OG press sounds just fine - compare it to a digital copy and maybe there's a bit more noise, but nothing noticeable for me. As others have said his original recordings were done in a hunting cabin on a 4-track tape mixer and then added on to in the studio (percussion, addl. instruments and vocals, etc.).
  4. I've got the pinking-gray press which Discogs tells me is the 7th pressing. I can't say I've noticed an off-center issue, but I'll have to pull it out and look again when I get home.
  5. I also purchased this but have no complaints about sound quality. Put it on my TT the day I got it and listened through – not a pop or crackle to be found! I'm eager to hear how your copy sounds. I've also gone a little heavy this month and added a few more pieces of plastic to my collection: Macseal - S/T Groundislava - Feel Me (TP) Groundislava - S/T (2018 repress) Pinback - Autumn of the Seraphs Mewithoutyou - [A--> B] Life Owen - L'Ami Du Peiple Gulfer - What Gives Tera Melos - X'ed Out
  6. I have a copy of the "animal cover" version that everyone is hating on (it's an amazing cover, imo), and can confirm that it sounds silky smooth. No complaints on the pressing whatsoever.
  7. Might have better luck on the below thread http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/121856-the-does-anyone-have-info-about-this-record-what-is-this-record-or-collection-worth-thread/
  8. If you're still in the market I have almost an identical setup as you (Debut III, Speed Box S, and an old 90's Marantz integrated amp). I bought the Parks Audio Budgie last year and have been nothing but satisfied with the sound. Shanon, the guy who builds all the units by hand is super helpful, and gave me some tweaks to customize the sound for my specific components. Plus the added cool-factor of the tubes glowing at night doesn't hurt, highly suggested! Might be a bit on the pricey side but for what he charges it's a steal compared to a lot of other products in the same range.
  9. I know this is an old post but awesome work dude, this looks slick, even if it's for more than just a few months. I also built a custom piece for my collection about two years ago and it gets hard to say goodbye when you run out of room ha. Love that you left the banding natural, nice job!
  10. I'd say try this before just jamming it onto your TT's spindle, it works 99.9% of the time. I've cracked a stuck record while trying to pull it off the spindle so be careful on that end as well. Good luck!
  11. However unpopular this may be, I'm disappointed with the single. It's just way more straightforward than previous releases and leaves little to be explored on re-listens, I'll have to check out the full album today but looks like a case of the "overstructured syndrome".
  12. I recently bought my first test press, Groundislava - Feel Me
  13. Another possible source is motor hum, causing vibrations to the point that it's audibly vibrating your table. I'm not super familiar with the AT tables though, good luck!
  14. Yes, it's almost certainly poor grounding. A few questions to help pinpoint the issue... Are you using a dedicated pre-amp stage or plugging directly into an integrated amp (receiver)? Ensure your TT ground wire is properly attached to the grounding point on whatever you are connected to. If all else fails it may be interference between non-/partially-shielded interconnects, I had to swap one of those out as well on my setup (RCA between pre-amp and receiver). Lastly, it could also be your power source if your outlets are improperly grounded. I have this issue in my apartment and using a tripp-lite surge protector seemed to help solve that last bit.
  15. Agreed, I'd keep the U-Turn and put the money into your next cart (I'm a big fan of the Ortofon 2M series). Over the past year or two I've slowly upgraded my Pro-ject table to it's max, and the cart has easily made the biggest discernable difference.
  16. I'm Happy to see the first LP being repressed. I have the OG LP but never found that yellow "Dig" 7", at least now it's got the full track listing on it. I've heard rumor of a vinyl pressing for the II LP but nothing up yet, I would love to see a vinyl release in transparent blue.
  17. Really bummed I missed the Sugar into Tea variant, and I am not even a "color collector," I just loved the look. Alas, I still need this record but went for "white curtains" variant which is considerably less attractive than the others.
  18. Might want to double check that RAGC price if you're not getting any bites, I know Discogs has a few up for eBay prices but two copies sold on VC in the past couple months for less than $100
  19. I saw them on their reunion tour a while back and those dudes still rip it. War All the Time will always be one of my favorite albums, have a blast dude. Also this, specifically S/T or Silent Circus
  20. Just snagged that $18 copy of AotS from the band site, very glad I came across this thread. Such a great album, grab one if you can!
