Well, at this point it probably isn't.

I didn't think there was a turntable design I could  have desired any less than this Beatles one, and then you said yellow.

    Ew.

Holy shit that thing is ugly.  Good luck.  Even if you fuck up it's guaranteed to look better than stock.

So to not flood the new purchase thread with updates on this, I started its own thread for updates on this endeavor.

For those not in the loop, I got a bunch of points for a work anniversary and basically had free money to spend.  We had an open box Debut Carbon Espirit SB model which I was able to pick up for pretty cheap, so it came out basically for free with the the points used.  Actually, it was missing the anti-skate weight (the reason why it was returned) so I did have to buy one of those for about $15 shipped in order to make it functional.

The only problem is it's a Beatles edition turntable that's ugly as hell, so I'm going to end up giving it a new face.  I honestly haven't decided what it will ultimately look like although I am thinking either going with a wood veneer or possibly having one of my buddies who is an artist paint something custom  on it.

Naturally being a $15 overall investment, I won't be too upset if I completely botch this thing so I guess we'll just have to see how it goes!

Would any answer that Spacelab9 could provide regarding the fallout 3 box really satisfy any of you? Would any answer really surprise you?

It would pretty much only fan the fire from all of your witch hunt torches (see: the ETR thread) so I can understand their choice not to address it.

I've said it before... it's just fucking records, man.

I agree with all of this.

As as far as carts go, the Shure m97xe or the AT-440mlb are always go to suggestions for me as they are easy to install and align and sounds great for the price... Whatever you buy just get it from somewhere with a good return policy as you can try to break it in and see how you like it and always send it back if you don't.

I might be a downer for saying this, but yeah, more often than not there really wouldn't be much of a difference. At least in terms of quality.

I've found that you have to spend exponentially more on analog equipment just to get it on par with the digital end. And even then, most records us VCers buy won't even have the potential to blow digital out of the water. Personally I've found that maybe 5% of the records I own sound better than their digital counterparts, regardless of how they were sourced. Most of them sound different, but very few sound better.

But adding a separate amplifier will definitely improve your experience on both sides of the spectrum, so it's never a bad idea. Though if you want more specifically out of vinyl, a better cart is probably your best bet.

    I really liked the finale.

To me, the theme of control (or lack therof) goes beyond just our protagonists on the show. Our own feelings of needing to know all of the answers can be looked at as us trying to "control" the situation... I find it funny that a lot of people are complaining on the internet about unanswered questions this season for that exact reason, and I feel like those people are completely missing the point.

I do find myself fighting against my own desire to definitively know everything that's going on in the show (specifically what's real and what's not) and feeling challenged by it, and for that I think the show works brilliantly. If everything suddenly was revealed in the finale the whole point of the show would be contradicted.

    Just my $.02

I'm convinced there are people on this board who will find a way to complain no matter what the outcome. Invada found a way to literally please everyone except for beanie babie record collectors; they released variants in the U.S. and in Europe so people in both continents can buy this and save on shipping costs. They kept the pressing numbers high to ensure everyone has a chance to snag one. And now people are complaining there are too many variants, only because they treat vinyl like Pokemon and need to catch every version of their favorite album that comes out. It's an absolute joke.

Imagine if they released one variant, limited to 500 copies and it sold out immediately. How many people would be crying their eyes out over here over that situation? Obviously Invada knew there would be a bajillion people who wanted this album so they pressed a shit load of them. I have no problem with that, or the fact that people who can't afford to buy all of them won't be able to keep their stranger things soundtrack collection complete. Maybe it'll force them to go outside and get some sun, or something.

Grown adults around here are still buying The Used and Fall Out Boy records, so there will be a non-sarcastic comment, it's just a matter of when.
