  1. Yep, been listening to both Casually Dressed and Hours for years. Love both to death! For what it's worth, Hours would probably be in my top 15 albums as well. I was kinda disappointed when I saw the band twice earlier this year while travelling Europe, and they only played 3 songs from Casually Dressed..(Storytelling, Bend Your Arms and Juneau)?! No Rookie Of The Year, no Escape Artists, no Bullet Theory, no Red Is The New Black.... And also based on the board's tastes, I'd really expected them to be much more popular around here. Probably because they don't tour the states as much maybe.
  2. Thanks man! I was kinda self-conscious about my list because it seemed pretty bland relative to everyone else's. But glad you like it!
  3. Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream Red Hot Chili Peppers - By The Way Oasis - Definitely Maybe Thrice - The Illusion Of Safety Funeral For A Friend - Casually Dressed And Deep In Conversation Blink 182 - Take Off Your Pants And Jacket Rufio - Perhaps I Suppose... Alkaline Trio - Good Mourning Megadeth - Rust In Peace The above are pretty much set in stone... And then it's down to a fight between a few albums. But ultimately I chose Alice In Chains - Dirt
  4. So far I've been enjoying these a lot. Still not yet in order: mewithoutYou - Pale Horses Beach Slang - The Things We Do To Find People Who Feel Like Us Deafheaven - New Bermuda Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell Ryan Adams - 1989 Drug Church - Hit Your Head Self Defense Family - Heaven Is Earth Envy - Atheist's Cornea Turnstile - Nonstop Feeling Anything other essentials you guys think I might have missed out on?
  5. Yea I loved the Broken Wing EP! I felt even in the Trio's earlier releases that the few Dan songs that end up on albums were mostly top-notch. My favourites include Blue Carolina, Emma, She Took Him To The Lake, Crawl and Message From Kathleen. Matt's always gonna have more songs on the albums so I'm glad Dan now has an outlet for his solo stuff. His cover of String Bean Jean on the 'Of Peace, Quiet and Monsters' 7" is phenomenal.
  6. Definitely in my top 10 for this year. Once again Dan proves he's as great (or even better) a songwriter as Matt.
  7. i'd say this band is pretty popular aren't they? Popular enough to sell 4000..
  8. I'd have to respectfully disagree here.Their biggest hits are mostly on Californication, which is their best selling album but imo actually a pretty boring album except their hits (Otherside, Californication, Scar Tissue). But BSSM, Mother's Milk, By The Way and Stadium Arcadium all have great songs on there which aren't 'hits'. I mean, Dosed, Venice Queen, Don't Forget Me, Wet Sand, Make You Feel Better, Hard To Concentrate, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Subway To Venus... All of them are great. I understand music is subjective but if you haven't listened to these songs/albums, give it a go!
  9. So the teal 2xLP is limited to 100, but there are only 75 bundles?!
  10. I suppose you've listened to all of their regular albums then. But in case you haven't, By The Way is perfect imo.
  11. The reason for that is because their first 4 albums were released on EMI. From then onwards everything has been through Warner Bros. When What Hits!? was released in 1992 by EMI, it was supposed to contain the biggest hits of their EMI era. But they made a deal of some sorts, that EMI could include Under The Bridge (from their Warner Bros. album BSSM) on there. In return, when Warner released a greatest hits album in future, they could use one song from their EMI catalogue, which happens to be Higher Ground. So there ya go. But still, yea, it did take them some time before their work was roundly celebrated. But IMO from everything from The Uplift Mofo Party Plan onwards is brilliant.
  12. I checked that Define The Great Line is released through Tooth & Nail. Wonder if it also counts as a Solid State release? It's the only thing I care about from this label..
  13. This past week: Beach Slang - The Things We Do To Find People Who Feel Like Us The Beatles - The Beatles Thursday - Full Collapse Turnstile - Nonstop Feeling Alkaline Trio - Good Mourning Pears - Go To Prison Tigers Jaw - Tigers Jaw ИO///sé - Lower Berth
