  1. Forever Delayed from MOV sounds awful. That's why I'm laughing at all the posts praising this company. They're erratic at best.... Some winners, but a lot of releases that should have NEVER seen the light of day. I went ahead and picked up GT since it's from a different label. But after hearing about the other Manics issues on MOV, I had to pass on all of them after getting burned with FD. Maybe a better company will re-reissue them down the line. (Ideally with the original analog masters.)
  2. Except for the Manic Street Preachers reissues... which are so bad I can't even listen to them.
  3. Confused by your trade list. Do you HAVE NIN's "Fragile" for trade? It's overpriced/OOP, and I agree... But I would trade for it.
  4. The MOV press of Manic Street Preachers' "Forever Delayed" is the worst piece of vinyl I own. It's actually the reason I didn't buy the other Manics reissues. Their other releases haven't been bad tho... Miles Davis' "On The Corner," Rage "Evil Empire"... So I guess it depends.
  5. And it's actually too small for the record itself! (Assuming you put the record into a sleeve of ANY KIND... which you SHOULD....) It's the little things, bootleggers.
  6. Also, I predict R.A.M. could be my album of the year. Or possibly The National. The fact that both drop on the same day is pretty staggering.
  7. Huh. All the negativity for Homework. Not a great album for flow, but "Da Funk" is easily one of the Top 3 greatest DP tracks ever. Did "Music Sounds Better With You" ever show up on vinyl (aside from the original single)? It would've been perfect on Homework even though it's technically the one-and-only "Stardust" single. And see my other post about how thrown we were by Discovery at first. Same with Pitchfork. They basically did a "mea culpa" about the negative review years later and, as someone else pointed out, it was one of their top albums of the 2000s. It's easy to hate on Pitchfork, but I will always respect them for turning me onto LCD Soundsystem, one of my favorite bands of the last 10 years. (R.I.P.) They also turned me on to Burial, James Blake, and Robyn (who some of you probably hate, but your loss).... So all in all, they're pretty good about filtering out the quality electronic music from the massive amounts of crap currently out there.
  8. I love this record and kinda wanted this variant, but for the current prices... NO.
  9. Sorry, but Human After All just has the sound of a band not caring. Basically every song is: One vocal, one sample, one beat, then repeat with no variation for 5+ minutes. Dance music is all about nuance and that album is lacking in a way Daft Punk never were before. Hell, I LOVED "Robot Rock" (still do)... But after hearing the original Breakwater sample, I realized all DP did was find an obscure sample and loop it for 5 minutes. (And add a vocoder singing "Rock, robot rock" over and over.) Lazy. All the Human After All tracks sounded infinitely better on the Alive 2007 album IMHO.
  10. Agreed. But I still thought it was a cheap move on the part of Jay/Ye to price it out of the range of almost every diehard fan. For comparison's sake... Twisted Fantasy: Better record (IMHO), triple LP, $35. I really think this is gonna be a turning point for Third Man. The moment they sold out a good chunk of their "hipness cred" to gouge their customers on a ridiculously expensive, mostly s**t Hollywood soundtrack. It's gonna take a lot of tri-colored vinyl to get their good karma back.
  11. Loving it so far. Completely different from everything Daft Punk has ever done... and yet completely Daft Punk. Nice trick there. Also, it's easy to say "not as good as Discovery," but I remember *very* clearly how disappointed my friends and I were on first listen of Discovery back in 2001. A LOT of curveballs on that record ("Digital Love"??) that we didn't quite "get" right away. Lest we forget, everyone went in expecting Homework Part II and got something very different. Not saying R.A.M. will hold up as well as Discovery, but it COULD. Which is not something you could ever say about Human After All. Ooof.
  12. I could be wrong, but I think Songs is the first press.... Pretty sure Island never did a vinyl version back in the day. The reason those early records are so expensive is cuz they were only released in limited quantites from 4AD... and only in Europe. Obviously American stores could import them, but I never personally saw copies for sale. (As opposed to other now-hard-to-find titles like early Mars Volta or 2000-era Pearl Jam.)
  13. Incredibly overpriced for what it is. I guess they're putting out a regular version of this soundtrack at least. The $125 version of WTT was the one and only vinyl available. (Non-bootleg anyway...)
  14. So I'd rather post on here rather than the other post with 70+ pages.... FINALLY scored a copy of the RSD picture disc variant. Decent news: Side 1 (with the "non score" tracks like "Real Hero") sounds pretty great, especially considering it's a pic disc. Bad news: The inferior vinyl kicks in with the score tracks, simply because they're softer and more dynamic. Far noisier than the regular vinyl pressing would be. SO... Now I'm debating whether to hunt down another Mondo press come 5/28. I don't collect multiple variants, but this might be the obvious exception. Great news: I'm willing to sacrifice some SQ when it's a package as gorgeous as this. Just from an aesthetic standpoint alone... WOW.
  15. Yep, this is a pretty great pressing. Does anyone else's vinyl have a pattern that almost looks like crumpled paper? I was expecting something closer to The Terror or Deloused silver vinyl, but I'm pretty happy at the unique look of this variant. And of course, fantastic SQ.
  16. I feel your pain.... That first SKM record is going for $200+ now (both variants). The others are less but definitely not cheap. I personally would love to get my hands on "Ocean Beach" from Red House Painters, but I can't justify spending more than $100 for it. And I haven't gotten lucky yet. FYI... I would try to grab "Songs For A Blue Guitar" now if you're into RHP as much as SKM.... It was $25 about a month ago but now that it's OOP all the prices are starting to inflate....
  17. My mistake... The poster I was thinking of was actually Ken Taylor's work. Similar, but not exactly the same: http://www.mondoarchive.com/poster/drive/ Not mistaken about the RIDICULOUS prices people are asking for it tho: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ken-Taylor-Drive-Artist-Proof-Mondo-Movie-Poster-Ryan-Gosling-print-art-ap-/251098385554?pt=Art_Posters&hash=item3a76a14c92
  18. Unless I'm mistaken, Stout was also the one who did the limited-edition poster they released last year. I actually followed their Twitter, trying to snag a copy.... but they wound up selling out in about 30 seconds. These are $50 posters, mind you. I think (finally) snagging the picture disc is a nice consolation prize, tho....
  19. Huh. A regular on here told me point-blank to stop looking for the picture disc as it was guaranteed to sound like s%^#. Mind you, I'm pretty sure he didn't OWN the picture disc. He just sorta SURMISED.....
  20. Yeah, I can snag you a copy of the Postal Service Loser Edition too, but the shipping is gonna be pricey since it's a heavy record. (3X LP) But let me know if those other links don't work. Don't spend $30 Australian plus shipping for Gotye's Like Drawing Blood. It's about to be released domestically (on CD as well as vinyl) on May 14th for a LOT cheaper..... http://www.amazon.com/Like-Drawing-Blood-Gotye/dp/B00C5UV3S6 Making Mirrors I would jump on, though. I grabbed my copy for under $10 last year but it's completely OOP now and prices will probably go above $50 by Christmas.
  21. So spinning the Gary Clark Jr RSD gold vinyl single got me thinking I could really use this for completion's sake. I've been delaying purchasing B&B on wax, and I figure I might as well spring for the blue (and "blak") variant. eBay prices are a bit high now, especially since you could get sealed copies even a month ago for about $30 or so. I'm fine with an open copy as long as it's in decent condition if someone's looking to dump an old RSD purchase. If I can't find one for a good price, I'll probably just wait a few months and let eBay settle back down. Also have a few RSD items I could part with... Nothing super rare. Deftones, JEW, Titus A. Or I can swap a Frank Ocean since that's suddenly a hot thing on the boards again. PM me!
  22. My store had quite a few Lemonheads 7-inches last week. Might all be gone now, but PM me and I'll message the owner....
