  1. After despairing that I could only get these for eBay prices, I finally tracked sealed copies of Porcupine Tree's In Absentia and Fear Of A Blank Planet... The limited, numbered, marbled versions. From the label site, no less. A label that is NOT adverse to jacking up their own prices when stuff is rare (ahem)... But still better than eBay. Between this and the Stupid Dream reissue, I'm gonna have a quartet of PT vinyl very soon! Exciting stuff for the 2 other people on here into Porcupine Tree....
  2. Yeah, most folks agree STP was *supposed* to record a version but backed up. I'm thinking they actually did the recording then decided not to release it (similar to Tool holding their version of "No Quarter" off the Zep tribute album). And then 99X in ATL snagged a copy and played it before (probably) getting a cease-and-desist. You'd think it would've surfaced by now tho.
  3. Also again, Blood On The Leaves: As if it wasn't already hard enough to snag quality Nina Simone on wax........
  4. Kinda lovin' this. Not as much as Fantasy, but much more than 808s, which just sounded underproduced. This is VERY produced in its own incredibly raw way. I'm saying it's the hip-hop equivalent of NIN's Broken.... The album AND the fake snuff film. Also, fair warning if you're buying it tomorrow: The official CD could not look MORE bootleg if it tried. It's like Kanye's almost daring you to torrent.
  5. On a vaguely related note, does ANYONE remember STP's cover version of "Conjunction Junction"? It would've been post-Core, pre-Purple. Heard it on alt-rock radio a few times.... Then when the Schoolhouse Rock covers album came out, STP were nowhere to be found.... replaced by Better Than Ezra's (pardon my French) donkey-balls rendition. I've never been able to track down a copy (or even official release info), but I swear I'm not hallucinating this. I wasn't into the hard drugs yet back then.
  6. Snagged one of these a few months back for a few bucks. Bonus: Only really good song Jimmy Page did outside of Zeppelin.
  7. And feel free to fire away... I know most on here love YFW but that's the one Brand New record I will never own.
  8. Funny, I judged YFW on its own too. And I judged it as "kinda shitty Blink-182 mall punk." Hate away, but TDAGARIM is their crowning achievement IMHO. That one actually made me like Deja infinitely more. Also bear in mind, I'm outside AP's target demo and probably hate 99.9% of all bands they feature now.
  9. Not gonna lie, this made me laugh. I can see you guys begging for months with "WTB: Feedbands variant." And the occasional "Make me an offer" thread that turns into an $800 eBay auction. I'm honestly amazed SRC hasn't already tried this gimmick.
  10. Fantastic news. You think other sites are gonna have it cheaper than Burning Shed eventually? No mention of a limited edition so I think I'm safe. And weird that they would remove the bonus tracks, but maybe SW prefers the side breaks this way? Anyway, there's a (fairly) cheap solution around that: Pick up "Recordings" which has both those bonus tracks, plus some other nice rarities from the LS/SD era. I grabbed mine for $30 from DeepDiscount a while back (with free shipping!).
  11. $225 (PO price) for 7 records that were mostly OOP or never available, in a limited-to-2000 box signed by the band, didn't feel like a rip-off to me. I guess it depends how much you like DCFC. Of course, I'm talking as someone who got the set (with mislabeled records) before they stopped shipping, so in the back of my mind I kinda know I can sell the double copies down the line and get some of that $$ back...
  12. Funny bout that.... I ordered from there, says it was supposed to arrive by June 17. Went to check progress.... Order STILL hasn't shipped. Contacted Amazon.fr, and they told me they were out of stock, so my order never shipped after all. So at this point, I might as well just wait for the PO.... as I assume if/when the French Amazon ever gets it, it's just gonna be the same retail version as the UK Amazon, but at an inflated price. Insert your own "We hate the French" joke here....
  13. That Amazon PO with no date has been up for a WHIIIIILE........ I got lucky and found a copy in my local store for regular price ($18). It had probably been there for well over a year. Keep hunting and you can probably find a store still sitting on stock.
  14. The delay on this box set is KILLING me. It's gonna be worth it tho. BTW, I haven't been on the board in a while... But all the pics I posted above are the Euro presses. A seller on Discogs had all three of them sealed for slightly-higher-than-American prices so I couldn't pass them up. I wasn't able to score the U.S. purple version of High Violet, but this one has: a) A really nice heavy vinyl sleeve (with flap) for storage No numbering c) Lighter colored vinyl, as someone already pointed out. Which I personally love.
  15. I got the info from the label guy, but here's an article: http://music.broadwayworld.com/article/VAMPIRE-WEEKEND-Tops-Chart-with-Second-No-1-Album-20130522
  16. I don't see this going OOP anytime soon. Discovery has been easily available for years now, Homework too since coming back into print recently. (Also Daft Club for what it's worth, which ain't much.) Only tricky ones to get are Human After All (although isn't this being repressed overseas?) and TRON, of course. Anyone else wish they would put Musique (the greatest hits) out on wax? Aside from a few annoying radio edits, this comp has nearly all the songs I really want from both Homework and Human.
  17. Didn't Vampire Weekend just set the Soundscan record for most records (vinyl) sold in a week? Possible Daft Punk will break it.... although our store sold out in a day and can't get more copies for a while. (Backordered.) Same issue with The National, but additional stock showed up on Thursday. So The National is gonna have more first-week sales for us, simply by virtue of their distributor not dropping the ball.
  18. Wouldn't necessarily recommend this site, as their prices are high and selection bad (OOF).... But they have the purple copies for PO *and* a 20% off sale. So under $30 with free shipping. I figure if the pressing is bad, I can always sell a limited colored first-run press for more than I paid for it down the line. www.musicrecordshop.com 20% OFF Entire Website Sale - Memorial Weekend (Code Memorial)
  19. Since I'm in the mood, a few pics of my (colored) National collection. C'mon box set!!
  20. Fantastic album... It's impossible for me to really rank Alligator/Boxer/HV as they're ALL my favorite National record at different times. But this one is certainly in the mix. Also, nice to see the up-tempo tracks and (very) dark humor return. Funniest line: "When I walk into a room, I do not light it up/ Fuck."
  21. I get the digest version. [EDIT: *Did* get digest version. Now getting FB updates too.] I swore I even checked the site on Saturday... Never saw the post. Although, apparently, they all sold out by the 17th.
  22. Kinda sorry I missed this one... http://www.paulsmith.co.uk/us-en/shop/new-online/paul-smith-for-david-bowie-the-next-day-red-vinyl-limited-edition.html ...Especially seeing the insane prices it's going for now. And not a single PO mention on the board?? Vinyl Collective, you're letting me down.
