  1. Haven't had any cancellation issues thus far. (Knock on wood.) My Strictly Discs pre-order finally showed today... Spun that White Stripes tonight, in fact. No issues with Amoeba, Vintage Vinyl, or Melody Supreme either. The BTS I got from Amoeba had one corner bent to hell, though, so I've sent them an email about that..... Tracking down the Drive soundtrack is proving to be a bitch, tho.
  2. I bought the Titus A thinking the same thing. Everybody was begging for it... A day later, nuthin.
  3. Haha... Yeah, Futures is NOT gonna be available new on any of those above sites for a reasonable price! Maybe 10 years ago.... Ditto with The Photo Album although that's a BIT more manageable in terms of dollars. The rest of those should be available at your local record store... Or most online places. Definitely all the Shins and Chase This Light, I don't keep up with those other bands. Also, try deepdiscount.com . They sell on Amazon but their own site has cheaper prices, plus free shipping over $25 (?). I've picked up everything from import Manic Street Preachers albums for under $25, to MMJ's It Still Moves for like $18. (Even though it's technically "out of print" now...)
  4. I always thought Sarah was a bit too cloying, love the last two though. I prefer the second record of Transatlanticism, if that counts.... Side C/D beginning with the title track (AKA The Greatest Thing DCFC Will Ever Write) and ending with A Lack Of Color.
  5. Old school: Van Morrison's "Astral Weeks." New school: Second record (Side C/D) of NIN's "Downward Spiral."
  6. Eh, 20/20 Experience was $24.99 at our store when it came out.... $24.99 a week later... AND $24.99 now. Amazon's "price fluctuations" are mainly third party sellers getting stock cheaply and undercutting the Amazon price. Don't get me wrong, that's really the only vinyl I buy on Amazon.... Deeply discounted sealed stock from third parties. Hate gohasting's packing methods... Love their dirt-cheap prices.
  7. Yeah, it's 100% a bootleg. I guess if you want it just for collectability, tho..... One of my local stores has several copies. I can ask him if it's the orange version. Go ahead and PM me here. I would honestly be more interested in trading for your PFP tho.... especially if the orange is OOP now. PFP was the only RSD release I couldn't grab at all (along with Sigur Ros and Drive OST, but they're being repressed).
  8. Well, except for me. I don't collect multiple copies but I *do* hunt out the particular variant I really like. I know the audiophile order is black>color>picture, but these days it comes down more to the way it was pressed. I know for a fact that those new Iron Maiden reissue pic discs, while expensive, sound amazing... Every bit as good as regular black vinyl if not better. And for this soundtrack, I'd really love the pic disc version, or alternately the pink vinyl. But the latter is a crapshoot so I'll spend this week trying to hunt down the RSD press. Any tips or heads up would be appreciated, and I'll also gladly give you cash or work a trade. And I guess if the pic disc DOES sound like ass, the regular black will be easy to find...
  9. Someone made a random comment about the HT silver press in the Django "blood splatter" thread.... So thanks for the heads up, inadvertent or otherwise. I know this will be on the website after their stupid promo but I might just drive there myself today. First time in a HT in 10+ years. Woo boy.
  10. The irony, of course, is that DMB's first vinyl press (Before These Crowded Streets) sat unsold for YEARS since it was the '90s and few cared about vinyl. Most stores dropped the price to $10 just to dump them. Now, of course, a sealed copy sells for $250+. I guess they took the opposite tactic this time around.
  11. My store owner that held the silent auction is sounding more and more like a saint with every passing post...
  12. Just a general heads up regarding these comments: Invest in a $20 anti-static brush. (I like the one from MoFi, but there's cheaper ones.) I clean every record before AND after playing, and it makes a big difference. Next step is deep cleaning!! (Not there yet.) And another solid investment is anti-static sleeves... The rice paper ones, or Discwasher. A pack of 50 is fairly cheap and I use them for any records that come in super-static-y sleeves. I'm not saying to throw the cool inner sleeves away.... Just store the actual vinyl in something a little bit better.
  13. I thought the Steven Wilson RSD title was available from a few places online Saturday night.... Not sure if there's any copies left, maybe try Vintage Vinyl?? I was able to secure a copy, but I can't let it go for cost. Not trying to be a DB, just sayin' it's worth more to me than $28.99.
  14. I'm glad we have someone from "inside the business" offering perspective here. I've been working at record stores for most of my adult life, at least part-time. I never have to deal with distributors so I'm clueless on that end, but I will tell you that CDs and DVDs are a bit of a "no brainer" to order depending on the label/distributor. Discounts for ordering a certain amount, returns accepted, etc. Vinyl is ALWAYS a non-returnable product. If something won't sell, you sit on it until it does. (Which might be forever.) We've got a clearance section filled with dirt-cheap 12" singles from the early 2000s just to illustrate how much the vinyl buyer has changed in a decade. (And to illustrate that some things won't move at ANY price.) So RSD basically becomes a bit of a huge gamble for these small stores. If they order too much of the wrong thing and get stuck with product that won't sell, that eats into their profit and could severely hamper their future buying power. I'm not saying there's any excuse to violate the pledge, but I could see a store owner being frustrated that all his ATDI and White Stripes get snatched up at MSRP and then resold for 3-4 times their value online.... while he eats a whole bunch of Aerosmith and Flaming Lips box sets.
  15. Definitely will be a wide release of MS. Not "numbered" but otherwise identical.
  16. I know a few folks on here were actively seeking the Titus 12", although with the leftover stock it doesn't seem that hard to find now. Looking to trade mine for Porno For Pyros (plus cash to make up the difference). Alternately, I could throw in the Jimmy Eat World 7" to make it even.... I would prefer not to part with the latter, but I'll put it out there. Both sealed (for now). Would also trade for the Drive OST picture disc or Sigur Ros, although it's not bloody likely anyone is letting those go....
  17. Nice heads up on Amoeba. Got the Chica Libre for my friend and the BtS for myself....
  18. Lunchbox in Charlotte. No mistake. Pretty sure the guy saw the eBay prices and decided he wasn't messing around.
  19. CRAAAAAAP........ I was at Lunchbox too and was being rung up just as that box was coming in. If I had known I woulda lingered and pissed off the folks waiting to get in just to buy that.....
  20. I was able to snag one. Didn't realize how limited these were.... Good luck!
  21. I would say so. The owner's legit... He hates eBay. I'm 99% sure he's gonna donate anything over the list price to the shelter.
  22. You won't find Drive as the copies got lost on the way to the distributor (!!). They should be recovered in the next couple weeks and stores will have them then... Probably with a LOT less hassle too.
