Scalping is no longer illegal in any real way, shape, or form. StubHub and other sites freely exist... eBay sells tons of tickets over face value... And don't get me started on TM's OWN scalping site. I almost miss the days when "scalpers" were the shady dudes hanging out near the venue, and if you bought/sold tickets from them, it was basically like a drug deal.... "Walk over here where there's no lights... Make sure the cops aren't watching us..." That said, I've seen some great shows for WAY under face value over the last few years, mainly thanks to CraigsList. (And once I even got 2nd row for face on StubHub!) So it cuts both ways.... But yeah, 99% of the time all scalp sites suck.

I had an issue with SRC where the tracking # was wrong, the package didn't show, and then no one responded to emails or the 1-800 number. BUT.... I contacted the "SRC" on this board (Jenna?) and she tracked down the source of the problem, my package went out FedEx and arrived in 3 days, AND everything in perfect condition. So no complaints now. Kudos to SRC for taking a potentially bad situation and turning around in a very positive way. I'm gonna definitely keep ordering from them, especially if they keep repressing vintage 90's records....

Dammit, after your comment about most items being "Buy It Now" I thought I could get that NIN for $12.99!! Methinks that price might double... perhaps TRIPLE... even QUADRUPLE... in the days to come.

Friend of mine was wanting to go to this. She was shocked how quick they sold out. I had no idea they were $100+ now. Them Crooked Vultures... Flaming Lips... Brand New/Thrice... None of them sold this venue out as fast. Only show that went quicker was Foo Fighters for the DNC back in August. (Those were gone in 30 sec... I know cuz I tried and failed...)

I just wish I had everything I bought on CD in the '90s on vinyl. I could probably pay off my mortgage. That Cardigans record going for over $300 on eBay last month? CRAZY....... An old music-store friend and I were commiserating on seeing stacks of Dave Matthews records going for $10 cuz they couldn't GIVE them away back in '98 or so. That's a $250+ record now....

My Whiskeytown collection... It doesn't look all that impressive in terms of size, but this is everything the band has ever released on vinyl. And I can't say that about (hardly) any other artist in my collection. Collector's note: The full-length LPs on the bottom might go for $20 combined. The four 7-inches across the top? $200 easy. Go figure.

I was of the same mindset, but then one of my friends who runs a local shop listed "Mars Volta" in his "Latest Used Records" FB post. It was "De Loused." And it was $100. And yeah, I drove down there and bought it. Then the coda.... I loved having the record, but I was almost *afraid* to play it because it cost so much. Plus the front cover was kinda beat to s**t. So when someone offered me $150 outright for it I grudgingly sold. Moral of the story: $100+ is a lot for ANY piece of vinyl, but some records are just a good investment, like a stock portfolio you can actually play on your turntable..... Kudos to Sub Pop for acknowledging that some of us have to work on Mondays. Ordered a couple copies once I got home. And sorry, I dig the "new" song, but I basically dig everything PS has ever done. And yet I HATE Owl City with a fuckin' PASSION.......

Yep, the first pressing of Into The Wild (with the bonus 7") goes for crazy amounts of money, but the repress has been easily available for a spell. Retail is about $50 so getting it for $30 and change is a nice deal.

Picked it up at my local store today. $14 + tax beats $14 + $7 shipping! (Although I didn't get the limited 7"...)

Exactly, not the original 1996 pressing. I've never been overly smitten with "first pressings," assuming the reissue is done well. And sometimes it's a smart idea to switch. I covered the cost of all four of my current Wilco LPs by selling ONE copy of "Summerteeth" before it got repressed, for instance.

Fair enough... I picked up Sun Kil Moon's "Ghosts Of The Great Highway" years ago, when it was already OOP (but not the crazy price it is now) for $10. Call me old school, but I think there's just as much value in picking up something BEFORE it goes OOP and prices go sky-high... as there is in stumbling across something rare that's been under-priced...
