  1. i've wanted this pressed forever, band rules. i still need somebody to sell me a copy of Remainder though.
  2. how has this not been pressed yet? album is soooo good, it's gotta be coming eventually
  3. so gutted i missed out on the /200 haze, i ordered the /200 black wing and unnatural world releases as soon as they went up and this was way more anticipated for me, i saw brand new last night and just totally fucking blanked. hopefully they add up a few extras later like they have done in the past. if anyone has buyers remorse and wants to trade their /200 haze for a mint green and some cash, or a different record, get at me!
  4. alcest is good but i don't think they sound too much like deafheaven i would actually say that the band that most sounds like sunbather era deafheaven while also predating the sound is a screamo outfit called Cease Upon the Capitol. their last release, untitled, was the first thing i thought of when I listened to sunbather. a rarely mentioned but sweet band. those tweets are disappointing but not exactly shocking. i think it's funny that whoever wrote the article tried to add significance to it by playing the angle of spreading awareness with "why are we bringing it up" when it's pretty obvious to most people, i'd like to think, that drudging up four year old tweets like these are exactly the sort of inflammatory social justice agendas that internet publications love to use to whip people up into a frenzy. it's an ugly word and certainly reprehensible but in no way anywhere near as big a deal as some people are going to make it out to be. IMO the bigger issue at hand is that he admits to liking Rancid.
  5. yeah it was released and it was terrible, worse than the first song for sure
  6. people's thoughts on MGSIV: guns of the patriots? i remember playing it and really loving it as a conclusion to the series, with old snake and the plot arc/bosses/ending sequence, i thought that was pretty close to being perfect, but also being kind of bummed at how many location changes there were because it really cut into the consistency of the game, which is something all three previous MGS games had in spades. there were some cool locations but it all felt too broken up. it'll probably take me awhile to do MGSV because I haven't played ground zeroes yet and I want to do a replay of Snake Eater first, but i'm already so stoked to play it just on merit of an open world, and a return to the feel of having a mission in a zone.
  7. i just hit the halfway mark in Bolano's 2666 and I'm pretty confident already in saying that it is the greatest thing I've ever read, and i read a ton. I've already done most of his novels/poems and I was saving this and Woes of the True Policeman for last because Maximalist fiction is my favorite, and I'm glad I did because nothing could've prepared me for how genius this book actually is. I could rave for days about it and I still have half of it to go. "favorite book" is always a tough one but I probably would've given it to Gravity's Rainbow before reading this, but I think it has finally been dethroned. the novel manages to be enthralling without too many pyrotechnics but when Bolano does decide to crank up the virtuosity he produces the most perfect and original images i've ever read.
  8. don't sweat it, feathers are very easily ruffled here, in the next two weeks some new user will make a first post and get the exact same response. these were actually less snide than usual. everybody here has had the same excitement over a limited purchase or the euphoria of finally forking over the coin for a big one, it's always good to see, grats dude.
  9. good for you dude! those are some sweet records, i hope they all arrive at your door safe and sound
  10. how did the pedal come about? was it something you made for them and they reproduced for the album or did they make it for the album and just design it? cool to see them already sold out, the feedback button seems really handy for their style
  11. if anybody with the /150 variant wants to cancel let me buy it off you instead, have all the other /100s
  12. Book Burner is probably their weakest of the masterpieces (Prowler, Phantom, Terrifyer) but it is still absolutely amazing, especially if you've heard the alternate Dynamic mix that came with the /100 bundle (I literally have never listened to the original mix digitally again). I originally felt the album's big weakness was the lyrics, which are not up to par with the other stuff, but it fits the sound of the record a lot more. It's got a more hardcore punk edge than any of their other records and the simpler lyrics go along with that. It's more badass and primal, less artsy. I think The Diplomat, Iron Drunk, and Permanent Funeral are some of my favorite PD songs though.
  13. If anybody is hitting up an Elder date and could grab me a copy of the Tour press, let me know and I'll paypal you cost+shipping+a little extra beforehand, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them hit the store after but that's not really a risk I want to take!
  14. gotta get the /100 colors for a few of em next! the Phantom Limb splatter is awesome.
  15. I mean somebody can always shred somebody under the table, which is why technical proficiency only goes so far, but I was responding to the surprise posters were expressing at saying that Jacky Vincent was a more talented guitarist than Defeater's members, which despite not being a fan of his is obviously true to anybody who has any basic of understanding of actually playing music. I get that woah_dude is an unpopular poster or w.e but I was just saying that his post was accurate (he even admitted Defeater was a better band) because everyone else was saying the opposite, which again, is just wrong. Defeater's guitar players would never claim to be shred gods, and they don't need to. But raw talent is most easily expressed in technical proficiency if you don't want to fall into the subjective rabbit hole, and Vincent has that in spades, which is all he was saying. And hey, for what it's worth, Ryan Knight is an amazing guitar player but I don't think he shreds Vincent under the table. He definitely writes perfect solos for a way better band but as far as just burning up a fretboard I think Vincent is up there with just about anybody. He's a one trick pony sure but he does that trick as well as anybody, his playing is so fast and so clean, especially those sweeps. I actually think Ryan Knight would probably be a fan of his, considering that he is a huge Becker fanboy (his most recent Ibanez LACS custom had rainbow colored pups just like JB's). Any guitar player respects technique like that. For what it's worth, I think Dave Davidson is a more well rounded player than Knight too, he mixes it up way more, Revocation's last album had the most mind bending thrash guitar I've ever heard. You can only play so much over BDM riffs but Davidson throws in lots of jazz/prog along with the god tier thrash. He gets my vote for most perfect metal player. And if you are into guitar playing, honestly, I think Guthrie Govan's playing on the new Aristocrats album (just came out) is as insane as it gets. He's really on another level entirely, it seems to me. Such tasty jams/riffs/bass and guitar interplay. It's like Erotic Cakes if it was actually written by a band. Through the Flower is one of the greatest things I've heard. My all time fav is Hendrix anyway, nobody will ever be as good again in the sense that he was. It's not like I'm a shred head, but hey I'm just chiming in on the conversation and affirming that Vincent is indeed a very talented guitar player who makes horrible music.
  16. Falling In Reverse is a terrible band but this is 100% true. Jacky Vincent absolutely rips on guitar, like 80's god shred level, and even if you hate that brand of music or think technicality is meaningless in what makes a musician "good," it cannot be argued that anyone in Defeater is even 1/100th as technically proficient as that guy on the guitar. that sort of proficiency only comes from hours and hours and hours of working on technique. He's basically a prodigy, dude learned to shred harder than 99% of people currently playing by doing it in his bedroom without even an amp. He's also really young, unlike a lot of the big guitar players ATM who are quite a bit older, like Abasi, Govan, Dave Davidson, Paul Waggoner.... as a guitar player I can't help but respect that kind of dedication and really just raw talent. He also has an album on Shrapnel, which doesn't happen unless you absolutely burn on the guitar. his playing is on the level of a guy like Jason Becker, technically (less interesting phrasing/compositions though for sure). I don't expect anyone on this board to defend the band, including myself, but if you play guitar or have even a basic grasp of music you can't possibly think the guy "sucks" at guitar. he plays in a terrible band and has a really lame image, i'd rather listen to defeater any day, but his talent is 100% legitimate. he also clearly loves the 80s stuff, so I guess I can't fault him there, it's some really well done Becker worship. some pretty great melodies on it actually, it's just super cheesy, literally sounds like it came out 3 decades ago. in case proof is needed: i'm not trying to take sides here, just stating fact that his musicianship should be respected, and it is not even remotely wrong to say that he is more talented than Defeater, at least in terms of musical proficiency. if anyone on here can learn that song and post a video i will literally suck your dick. if you think the guys in Defeater are better guitar players, i respect your preference, but all that says to me is that you either haven't listened to his playing (pretty sure he only really does the solos in FIR so I can see why) or you aren't a musician. because Vincent's talent cannot be argued.
  17. The lowest this has ever sold for was last year for $186 on ebay, the shards werent that impressive on it, but it will probably never go that low unfortunately.
  18. when i saw them with Touche on their recent tour the only song they played from A B was Bullet to close. the show was really sick but a little too much 10 Stories for my taste, I enjoy the album a lot but it just doesn't compare. their stage presence was still really good though. i saw them years before headlining a pretty small show at in my hometown and they closed with Torches Together into January 1979, I still remember it vividly because people had been calling for it, although the rest of the show has blurred together with time.
  19. It was just totally mind blowing for when it came out. I'm sure it would still hold up, the gameplay isn't great but it isn't really gameplay oriented. The atmosphere of both games is really unique and incredible. Dreamcast in general is just a must have system. It has so many incredible games and even now there is still an awesome shmup being released every few years. Sega Saturn rules really hard too. I had a dreamcast as a kid but not a saturn, but I bought one a couple years ago and have been loving it. It's got a lot of incredible games that you can't play anywhere else, even emulated.
  20. srsly guys i'm jk, idk why cantdance is whining about whining.
  21. don't let it hurt your feelings one bit, i think it's pretty clear that poster is being sarcastic based on the extremity of it. stuff like tone just doesn't translate via text so the joke just didn't come across to you (and bc it's just not very funny). responses like that are par for the course on the internet, nothing can be personal so here though so don't take it that way, and especially don't worry about downvotes and that stuff because that it is completely meaningless. you're being perfectly nice and that's all that anybody will ever ask of you on this forum (that and good business), just keep this and every other messageboard in perspective for what it is because if you post on the internet long enough you will eventually encounter meanness that isn't sarcasm.
  22. he hasn't logged on since April 6 but I can confirm that this has been sold
  23. How on earth has 7 Angels 7 Plagues not been pressed yet? Need this and the EP honestly so bad.
