  1. pretty sure the previous poster is right and there is no legal recourse anyone can take. Kickstarter offers no guarantees whatsoever so he could've just taken the money and done nothing and they still wouldn't be able to do anything. You'd think people would be more discriminate about what they give to, especially when this 33k could've gone to a charity and not just the pockets of this douche, but as lame as the guys who run this seem you really cant' blame them. It was a half baked idea that played into a trend and enough idiots saw it on social media and thought "this will be cool" to significantly exceed their 10k funding goal. The ones at fault are the people who gave money to this (and its their money to spend so whatever) and honestly I'm sure even stupider ideas than this have been funded on kickstarter. Crowdfunding in general is really lame and as far as I can tell only works when those seeking crowdfunding actually have something to lose by not following through with their promise. These guys basically got a free record store and probably have cash to spare considering they probably bought all of these on some huge wholesale since there seems to be literally no effort to pick out these records for people other than handwriting on a piece of paper "We picked these out for you! #cooking"
  2. prices have at least gone down on a lot of them it seems to me. i've been trying for a complete Loma collection for a couple years and am like 5 or 6 releases out, just missing a couple DW tests and one or two obscure tour presses. if you're interested in any of the rare stuff Jimmy, I see there are a couple Loma Prieta Dark Mountain record release presses sitting on discogs for $70.
  3. these guys do such nice packaging. i'm praying that we get a Giles Corey release before the years end. A collection of Voids and the other HANL b sides would be awesome too. and while I'm at it, what i'd like more than anything (though I know it's never coming) is a press of In Pieces-Lions Write History. I don't see the band mentioned too often around here but they are honestly one of the best Post Hardcore bands I've ever heard, and Dan Barrett did the vocals for that album. It's one of my favorites of all time.
  4. funny article. this whole thing is like everything obnoxious about record collecting in 2015 compressed into one stupid idea. i've bought plenty of dumb stuff pertaining to my record collection but it is beyond me how these guys got 30k in funding for this, even if it had delivered on its promises its still just a terrible idea. the fact that it is all stuff from the 50 cent bin advertised as being "hand picked" around the most trendy "moods" they could think of (vance joy) really drives home how it could only ever be a gimmick. i know i'm just saying what everybody else in this thread has already said but man i'm glad this is just falling on its face. it will save the world months of #checkoutmyVNYL tumblr/instagram whoring if nothing else i guess. between the kickstarter, the social media, the "mood playlists" and the over compensatory attitude the guys who created have (#keeptherecordsbro) despite it being such an obvious cash grab are the stuff i'd expect to see in a parody. just doing a few random record swaps on a forum like VC is a way better way to get a similar experience to what they offer, and you actually have a chance to get something good.
  5. i have DoaDD and i can say that the entire press is quite low quality. it was done by a different label (Basick I think) than the one that came out this year and it is literally the thinnest vinyl I have ever seen in my life. the sound isn't terrible but everything else about it is pretty sketchy. it was still an easy buy for me because the album rules but yeah the quality is pretty sub par.
  6. i shot them an email and they said that they only ordered what was sold in the pre order so there won't be any more copies unavailable. i wouldn't be surprised if they ended up putting a little overrun but whoever runs their customer service said it won't be for sale again. that's a shame, i love these albums. if anyone has buyer's remorse shoot me a PM, i'll throw in some extra cash or a record you're after.
  7. I thought they were releasing Eros?
  8. if anyone in the UK has easy access to a copy of Sikth's Wait for Something Wild I'd love a hookup . plenty of extra Death of a Dead Day went online after RSD last year but I don't want to chance it.
  9. i'm surprised to see that nobody favors alaska. i'll never forget how face melting that album was when it first came out. i had heard silent circus and thought it was crazy but it was like night and day with alaska. i like how it's not as grand an affair as their later stuff, how excellent Laser Speed is as a closing track, and how well every song stands on its own. and even though everyone rightfully cites Selkies for an example of guitar heroics, the entire album is just packed to the brim with weird and original guitar riffs, plus perfect tone/production that they've never really had quite as good since. out of all the tech death bands who play proggy btbam esque riffs and even the rest of btbams catalogue songs like Roboturner, All bodies, and ofc the ridiculous title track are still basically unmatched in my eyes. plus the breakdowns- especially the one that closes the insanity of Autodidact- are just wild. Colors I feel was their last 10/10 masterpiece but their later stuff rules too. if any other band then BTBAM had released parallax they would've instantly been considered one of the best bands in metal. The great misdirect is also really good, although i'd probably say it's their worst album. i like to think of it as their "jammy" album, it's kind of hard to explain why i feel that way but it really comes out in Swim to the Moon i think. it's just a fun album that sounds like it came together quickly and organically, the solos have a more improvised feel.... Fossil Genera and desert of song don't hold up well as tracks on their own though, IMO.
  10. lol no need for popcorn. i'm not trying to flame/rant at you, i'm just sayin that logically there is almost no chance of a record in an /100 press going through the process you describe, and really no need for it to, and ultimately the most "helpful" thing you can do is sell a record at cost. i don't even like knucklepuck, i'm just dicking around, i only brought it up because you said you were only trying to be "helpful," not actually trying to call you out on anything there. not everyone has to be like the few members on here who sell ebay gold at cost, i'm sure not one of them though i never claimed to be. i don't really sell many records, and i don't go in for the whole "someone do me a solid and pick me up one of these" because i can rarely return the favor. and also i didn't mean it's easier to sell directly so much as that those circumstances would have to be pretty ridiculous as to where you acting as a middle man would be beneficial or even necessary. BC if you front the money then they can just pay you back, no reason to send it to you personally for reshipping, right? maybe someone will prove me wrong though and take up your offer! that said, i don't care how you or anyone here sells their records. i think my skepticism was warranted for the reasons i mentioned, but i also said i could be wrong, and if that's the case and you are truly legitimately just trying to be helpful than obviously more power to you, even if i think it's a silly and unnecessary form of help. i don't care about flipping etc anyway, all i care about is that people do what they say they will in the deals i make here and obviously you are legit in that regard as you're still selling here so you are totally fine in my eyes. it was wrong of me to try and read into any malicious intent in your post when that wasn't really the point i was trying to make anyway, and i have no way of knowing for sure. i apologize for that chriswamsley. and in all sincerity, i hope you get your desired records and someone hooks it up for all you guys who want them at cost.
  11. idk man i guess i'm just skeptical that: 1.) someone who can't afford like $12 being out of their bank account would be going to a concert and buying an extra to send to someone. 2.) that going through you on here as an intermediary would be any faster than simply selling it to the intended recipient since there seem to be plenty of people looking for this. 3.) that if you didn't get one (since your posts indicate you are looking for someone to hook it up) that you would actually respect the wishes of the original buyer and send it to the requested recipient, and not just keep it for yourself or accidentally send it with no tracking or something. 4.) that this is even illogically sincere, or just an attempt to make yourself look like a better candidate to receive a copy because your playing the good samaritan card. and i mean no offense, and maybe i'm wrong, i don't follow your posts that explicitly or even check this forum that much, but i don't think i've ever seen you sell any remotely sought after record on here for cost, ever. i've seen you ask for a hookup plenty of times but i've never seen you hook it up, except for saying "get me one of these tour presses and i'll hook it up." although maybe i'm wrong? i also recall you posting on that old deadformat Knucklepuck thread where the kid got flamed by the band's drummer, "i'll give you $5" and in a WTB Knuckle Puck thread something like "good luck getting it for under $70" so since that just came out recently, and you've been trying to sell it for awhile, you sell it to me at cost to hook it up? lol i don't mean to be a dick (even though this is a dick post) and quite frankly i don't care what you do/who gets this, but your post gave me a laugh and that is why.
  12. lol i think i've got an idea of it but i would like to hear him actually try and explain how the logic behind that is sound....
  13. wait what? are you suggesting that someone buys one and ships it to you, so that when you go you can get a copy for someone else? or that if someone gets an extra, they ship it to you and then you ship it to someone else?
  14. http://shop.lunamusic.net/SUFJAN-STEVENS-Carrie-and-Lowell-CLEAR-vinyl-ed-p/sscl.htm others have posted earlier, but in case you missed it, clear seems to still be up here
  15. discogs has been a joke for so long. even just like 3 years ago you could go on and get stuff for 1/3 the price of ebay auctions, now if you find something decently priced it's an absolute diamond in the rough, so you have to check it every night and try to catch the wave of notifications before everyone else. and even then, half your notifications are people asking $200 for a record that MAYBE sold for that ONCE and are just re-list spamming it every single day, hoping some idiot will buy it. its still obviously worth checking for those few well priced things but man it's a headache. ebay is arguably a better bet since there's still a chance you can get something for a low price now.
  16. first time i think i've seen an Old Gray-the artist lathe for sale, i'm sure someone will want that
  17. went to maine a month or two ago, finally tried Bissell Bros as was suggested to me by someone here ages ago, most excellent. I also swung by the one next to it, I believe it was called foundation brewery, they had an IPA called Epiphany that was absolutely fantastic. should be canning them soon, highly recommended, definitely getting some next time I go back. can anyone recommend me the best stuff in texas? or anything unique.... I'm in Dallas, I like Deep Ellum quite a bit, and I had TX Mosaic recently and loved it.
  18. maybe check your spam folder or have them resend confirmation? i placed an intl order, got a confirmation instantly.
  19. don't buy it from there, i tried before and they didn't have it. i guess they never charged/refunded but it took me like 2 weeks to get in touch with them to confirm that. i had to call Warner music parent company who informed me that they are affiliated, so i don't think they are ripoff artists, but it was definitely a pain in the ass since i emailed them directly after ordering asking them to confirm that they had stock.
  20. rumor seems to be that the MH4 3DS was Gamestop exclusive, but the MM edition should pop up on walmart/best buy/toys r us at some point. it was for sale very briefly on amazon.ca, so that seems to imply that at the very least it isn't gamestop only....
  21. i don't see an update on their fb for whatever reason but i'll take you all's word for it. very pleasantly surprised by how hassle free this was.
  22. lol well it went over my head. my bad. in fairness to me tho, it wasn't a super obvious joke, and there actually are a lot of people who justify their own actions or savor being a dick for the reasons i posted in response to you. and on the internet where that behavior is even more common (since people call each other out way more and act like dicks more) there are often also people saying "don't feed into it because he loves it." wasn't even responding to say you were wrong necessarily, just my thoughts on what i consider to be an interesting thing that people do.
  23. lol there's no hate man, i'm not trying to instigate a fight. i think the reactions were funny tbqh and i would've loved somebody to actually respond why my post was such a problem for them. and i'm definitely not trying to say anybody is dumb (except for maybe Kief Sweat who does seem like he is legitimately pretty stupid). and not trying to say i am smarter than you. i was just questioning "why" it's too long since you didn't give a real reason other than your subjective opinion. besides, i just made a post, responded to people's complaints, spoke as i speak and tried to make a decent point. everything after my first, rather short post, was a response, and the first of those responses I felt (subjectively) couldn't be summed up in brief. it could've been shorter, sure, but who fucking cares? i'm the one who typed it and it didn't take me very long, and i'm saying DON'T read it if you don't have time, or don't want to, so it seem silly that you READ it and then complain. i'm surprised so many people had this intense an aversion to what, again, is ultimately less than a front page newspaper article, and something easily skipped, or avoided. idk if it's telling that they are all 2014 fresh members but i guess that's how it goes. my only real point was that jon is a bitch and secondarily that if you have time to whine about a post's length you probably have time to skip it and, inarguably, you are at least contributing less than that post regardless of length (since my post may have been long but at least there was content, which is more than I can say for any of the complaints against it). if the problem is people contributing content, then that's a ridiculous issue, and if you want a message board of purely memes/snarky comments than you can find that in plenty of places on the internet. i mean really though, if you read through the whole thing thinking "this is so stupid" then clearly you enjoyed it on some level or you should've just STOPPED READING. anyone who did that has only themselves to blame, anyone who didn't is just whining for the sake of whining by saying "too long!" i'll say it again, 99% of this forum is great, my only intention was to talk shit about jon and explain why. many said "chill" but i feel like the feathers ruffled were not really my own
