  1. i was watching ebay for these and saw them going for like $200+, but there was 9 pages or so of copies for sale so i figured they would go down in time. now they are still selling for $200+ but there is only 2 pages of copies, seems like the resale value is only going up on these.
  2. the orange is sold out right? couldn't find it earlier from the link, can't find it now
  3. i guess his description was accurate "i have taken care of this bad well" lol. just file a claim and get a refund, that deal isn't insane anyway. a mexican made fender should re-sell for about $300 in good-great condition because there is so little demand for MIM fenders and so many constantly coming up on the market. that thing is trashed, get your money back. i will say, i've bought a lot of instruments online and haven't had many bad experiences. sure it's always preferable to try them but that's not just always a possibility, especially if you're looking for something specific. i've never bought a $1000+ guitar from a solid seller and had it turn out to be anything less than an exceptional instrument. it's always hard to find one with the "mojo" but you've kind of got to roll the dice, especially on ebay where the only reputation is your feedback.
  4. i'd trade my deluxe for one of these when it comes in if anyone got an extra
  5. Hospital Music is my favorite, I really hope that and Darts both see the light of day on vinyl.
  6. Is anybody going to Carolina Rebellion? The setlist is so black in white in terms of shit/non shit that I just don't know what to do. There's some stuff I really want to see, and there's some stuff that would be fun, but then the rest is just like, an abomination. I bet the crowd is going to be so rowdy and trashy too, I almost want to go just for the atmosphere, but I gotta convince at least one of my friends to go with me. And on a different note: thoughts on Koi No Yokan? I return to the album a lot because it's a pretty strong listen front to back, and I always go into it hoping I'm going to like it more, but every time I listen to it feels like the weakest of their post Adrenaline material. The guitar tone is amazing (pretty cool in that article how hard Stef chases a perfect tone) but the second half of it drags really hard, and there's a pretty serious lack of Stef's usual god-tier riffs. After Gore I hope they either release Eros or put out an album that is really fucking heavy. I love the softer Deftones moments but Koi No Yokan is probably their softest full length overall and it definitely suffers for it. It's still a really great album but doesn't really touch any of their other big ones.
  7. i think, generally speaking, panopticon is probably the favorite of their discography. the production is perfect, the sound is generally accessible, and despite being a slow burn for the most part the payoffs are huge. in some ways it's one of their more inaccessible albums but usually that is the one i hear people say is their favorite. and so when you think of ITAOT, it is kind of an anomaly in their discography, it has a sound they never really did again with all the shard-like delayed guitars and songs that really felt like songs, as opposed to, i don't know, movements on an album (which is definitely the case for Panopticon, most of all). while i would encourage gumbo to return to panopticon again (and again and again and again) i can definitely see how ITAOT is pretty unique in their discography, and it is a very engaging album from the first listen. when it came out i thought it was for sure their best album, especially after Dulcinea being the lead single (and that song really is the perfect blend of more "song" oriented isis while still retaining their usual textures and heaviness.... but man those 7 minutes fly by). i'm not bashing anyone's opinion or anything, just sharing my love of the band, but man Panopticon really is such a perfect album. i think it still, to this day, has the best production of any ISIS album, ITAOT is a close second but when you put Panopticon on and just crank it that album washes over you like nothing else. altered course is probably my favorite on it, that song is such a great example of a different facet of their sound that they do amazingly. the whole album is mindblowing though, especially when listened through.
  8. i want to get my hands on that 30 disc Bergman collection
  9. Hym is sooooo heavy though, it'd be a shame to lose it. Panopticon is probably my favorite. Altered Course and Grinning Mouths are some of my fav ISIS songs, I think the end of Grinning Mouths is maybe the strongest close of any ISIS songs, the buildup and then how it cuts out into that open palm muted guitar riff and all comes crashing in back over it, an amazing moment for sure. It's their most subtle album IMO, something that's highlighted a lot by a track like Altered Course, which is pretty unique in their discography. I love how that song just keeps morphing, in a lot of ways Panopticon actually sounds more "oceanic" than their other stuff to me. ITAOT I thought was my favorite for a long time, it's an incredible album, I honestly think Dulcinea is probably their best song ever.
  10. why hasn't there been a press of Soundtracks for the Blind? i don't really know what to say about the accusations against Gira. weird circumstances but who knows. i hope it's not like some of the recent examples of this where no answer comes out. if his wife has 100% proof that it didn't happen that would be a nice change of pace from these rape accusations going up on social media and then fizzling out.
  11. yeah, my themata and sound awake were horrifically scratched when i got them. they weren't in sleeves, so you'd think maybe they slipped out or something, but the scratching was so bad you'd honestly think it happened before sending
  12. i'm not usually that huge on BWM stuff these days but i heard the first song on this and ordered the album. having listened to the rest of it, i love this. i feel like the songwriting is really there, i was never wild about built to spill but i guess the emo sheen pushed it into "love it" territory for me.
  13. not to hate on woods, but man i still can't get over the fact that every time i hear this band i just wish to god they were still doing Meneguar. when i moved to NYC, i was so hopeful i could catch a Meneguar show. they must've broken up right around then. now i'm going to be seeing Woods in the near future, and all i can think is "this could be Meneguar." you'd think with all the music Woods has put out they would bring those songs back at some point because they are one of my favorite bands. i know there are some Meneguar fans here who probably feel the same way. Woods is cool but no comparison for me personally.
  14. oh you know i chanced it, save me the extra $$$ i spent on the green
  15. i saw them play all these songs live recently, they ruled, it was actually a little less noisy/mathy than the first LP if i recall, a little more heaviness and groove. got the red since that one is limited.
  16. My "best" screamo bands because its one of my favorite genres and had a huge influence on me as a kid. I love a lot of the smaller bands but for me this is the stuff that really transcended the genre. As important and amazing as stuff like CoC, Jerome's Dream, Raein, La Quiete, and Sed Non Satiata are these other guys are on the highest level. I'll indulge myself and list my favs: Comadre- Soooooo good. A band that has changed with every album. Their more classic stuff is mind blowing, and then the 1-2 punch of A Wolf Ticket and Self Titled is almost too much. The world was a better place with Comadre, even if Jack Shirley is on to bigger and better things in the eyes of the mainstream. They may not be as "serious" as any of the other bands on this list but Comadre are unequaled in doing what they do, both their earlier brand of skramz which verged on hardcore and their later more experimental stuff. Ampere- Undisputed masters of the short screamo song. I know Will Killingsworth is busy these days with recording and being an adult so how intricate their 30 second songs are isn't the only contributing factor to how long it takes them to put out an album, but still they cram so much riffing and technicality into seconds of time Ampere has to be one of the most unique bands around. Like Shadows ruled too. Crazy talent. Beau Navire- The best band doing that "old school" sound. Hours and Lumens....yeah, enough said. Loma Prieta- Became one of the best bands in the scene with Last City. Reestablished themselves as one of the best bands on Deathwish with IV. They've gone away into a differnet sound with the last one but Loma always deserves a nod for Last City. It was the only screamo record of 2008 to really blow my mind after Kidcrash Jokes in '07, and one of the reasons is because it draws so heavily on that album before it, especially how the songs transition. Off Minor- Best of the oldies. Better than Hot Cross even for ex-Saetia members. Hot Cross really deserves a nod for pioneering the "pull on/pull off" guitar parts in punk, being tons of fun to listen to, and adding some really cool original stuff to their songs, but for the sake of space I'll focus on Off Minor, who are ultimately the more subtle and artistic of the two IMO. Because man, nobody has done it like Off Minor to this day. Harder to get into but by far the most talented instrumentally of any older screamo band. All their albums are similar but expand on the style brilliantly, and all are masterpieces, and Some Blood might even be the best despite being the shortest. The bass/guitar interplay is so crazy. Daitro- Newer than Off Minor but still pretty old. Man who could ever beat these guys? I don't really subscribe to the importance of being "true" to your scene but nobody is "truer" than Daitro for what its worth considering they told Geoff Rickly to go fuck himself when he tried to get them to tour with Thursday (sorry Geoff you didn't deserve that, you're awesome). But the vocalist in this band is seriously the best screamo vocalist of all time. All their albums are 10/10 gold and their splits harbor some of their best tracks as well. Epic, beautiful, passionate, and instrumentally perfect, especially the drums, which seamlessly blend their different ideas together. And last but honestly the best: Kidcrash- These guys basically took every style of emo from the last decade and combined into a swirling orgasm of sound with Jokes. The album takes a little while to grow accustomed to because its pretty impenetrable at first, but once you hear the songs a few times they cease to be "collections of cool riffs" and instead bloom into these brilliantly epic songs that are NOTHING if not well written. There are so many peaks and valleys to that album, so many "oh shit" moments, so many brilliantly interwoven guitar parts (really the end game expansion on what Off Minor does, they sound like one instrument they are so intricate and playful....) and of course, the drumming the drumming the drumming, which takes everything Daitro does and makes it even better, instead of constantly complimenting and changing the song structures the drums instead lead the songs full force, allowing the band to segue into new section and over and over again with a naturalness to them that makes everything sound so organic, although obv they rehearsed these songs to death (Jokes was originally all one long song if you can fucking believe that....) Naps and Snacks are both 10/10 records too, but Jokes is basically the first album to really do something new in Emo in forever, 7 years later nobody has really made anything that compares, and nobody has made anything that pushes the genre in the same way. The music on that record is truly a product of all the screamo that comes before it but is honestly timeless IMO. Jokes has to be one of the most critically revered albums of all time (everyone who is into the genre and will put the time into comes away with 10/10 masterpiece as a response) but for the average listener it is just too much. Alex Gaziano is an absolute genius, its no wonder his amp company Science has done so well for itself.
  17. if anybody hasn't heard them, the songs are through the link here: http://www.rockdelux.com/audio-video/p/grupo-de-expertos-solynieve-pajaro-jack-servicios-fonograficos-postales.html i didn't know what to expect they are surprisingly fantastic covers. pretty close to the originals but lovely stuff. edit: killer clean tone on the lead guitar for Salvador Sanchez, thanks a lot to Jason for making the effort of picking these up
  18. $261 I think with shipping to USA totally brutal, but i don't own any carcass albums so i decided to splurge.
