As for this Opiate CD, I can understand why & how people are pissed at the price tag and the general practices from the band as of late. For me it started with the overpricing of the tour prints this last time around. Not to mention the prices on signed drumheads and forget it if you wanted one of the prints to have been doodled and drawn on by Adam.
 
If I have read correctly from all that they have announced, my understanding is that all 5,000 copies being sold are signed and will be that $149.99 price. Highway robbery. Yes. But each person can do with their money what they want at the end of the day. I don't care if you think I'm stupid for having dropped that on this, I'm not losing sleep over it. We all have surely overpaid for something "stupid" at one point or another. It seems that our great message board and openness of the internet allows us to be more public about our so-called acts of stupidity in purchasing.

Thanks for checking in with them, and agree with everything you say re: delays but that at least they've got things rolling...

"when i had first worked w/ athletics on why aren't i home? they had just finished recording their a new album - which they described as a concept record that was really 1 song broken down into 5 movements. i wasn't sure what to expect, i just remember thinking it seemed like a bold move... the album did not disappoint.

as we started to discuss pressing who you are is not enough i knew how much effort they had put into the album and wanted to find a way for the packaging to also reflect the idea of being 1 thing brokendown into five parts. so i designed a package where the entire thing was cut, screen-printed, folded, wax sealed and numbered by hand.

a lot of sleepless nights went into the process of making all 300 of these by hand, so i wanted the vinyl color to reflect the things that really helped everything come together - coffee & booze."

Since this is Sheath related, I figured I'd point out there is an ITTCT Above the Earth test on ebay for $350 obo. However the guy in his $250 counter to my $140 offer said he's not desperate to sell and would easily pay $250 himself for this.
So to anyone willing to fork out that much, have at it!
