Working tirelessly in basements across North Carolina, he used the 4-track as a radical therapeutic device to unravel various psychological conflictions and capture an ongoing spiritual implosion on tape. 15 Years after the first volume of songs from that era was released ["Lost Decade" in '99], a second volume has been dug out and rescued from endless piles of cassettes. I'm looking for the seafoam green vinyl of Paralytic Stalks, sold only at Urban Outfitters. I'm looking to buy it for around $25, but PM me if you have something in that general range, please. The vinyl has never been played, so it's in absolute mint condition. The copy is limited to a total of 300. This one is number 79 and was bought on November 15th, in Paradiso, Amsterdam. After the concert I spoke to the band and asked them to sign the copy, which they did. They originally released blue, red, white, grey and black sleeves. Some of the tracks are slower and the lyrics are phenomenally personal. Simply, this album is very good, and while we loved their previous releases, this is easily their best release to date. I can't even. Oh lord. "Alex I Am Nothing is a concept album about becoming obsessed with someone you can not have. The chords and song structures throughout the record stay consistent, there are repeated lyrical themes and the album is bookended with two “Alex” tracks. The record plays out the entire lifespan of said “relationship” (friendship, obsession, etc.) with the opening track (“Alex Impulse”) setting the scene and resolving with the closing track (“Alex Decider”). Side A tries to rationalize this doomed relationship whereas Side B accepts that the relationship will never happen. While this particular story is told through the lens of a gay male, it is a narrative that is universal regardless of sex or orientation." There is a band that has been going the way of many artists today by releasing EP after EP in the hopes of getting a hit early on and/or getting their music out to the people more quickly. However, Strange Talk (example of their music) has taken their music from their past EPs and put together an album. This seems to be a newer way of putting together an album. In the past, some artists have put together a concept album, where it is meant to be listened to all the way through. Artists still do this every once in a while, but Strange Talk has taken their previously released material and put it all in one place for the listener, sort of like a "greatest hits" of the past couple years. Does anyone see this trend becoming more common?
