Emery - You Were Never Alone

Recommended Posts

Just got the link for the album + commentary. Dudes are such dorks, it's funny. First song is very mellow and the second song starts off with a ton of screaming. That's about as far as I have made it, but seems promising so far. The guys talk through the entire thing so it's kinda hard to hear the actual music.

lol.

"we can't release the album yet because we still need to record a commentary OVER THE TOP OF THE ALBUM SO YOU CAN'T EVEN ENJOY IT".

no thanks. why would anyone want an album dissected and demystified before they even have the opportunity to form their own opinion about it? I just...don't get these guys.

They don't even dissect the songs, they just have the songs on in the background while they talk about random shit and answer questions. They said they will release songs bit by bit and to expect the regular album PO late March or early April. No idea when they will actually ship out stuff.

If anyone wants to listen to it, send me a PM and I'll send you the link.

Ok, I listened to the podcast/stream again and the album will be out in May. I think it's funny everyone getting so upset over something they released as a bonus. Yeah, it's not that great, but something is better than nothing. This is an extra they are offering and not the early release that we were promised when we ordered one of their crowdfunding packages. That special early release is still coming.

Yeah it's a little silly of people to be getting so upset over this. To me this is super unnecessary. I'd rather just listen to the early stream when they decide to release it and not listen to a bunch of dudes talking over each other while I TRY and listen to something I've been excited for. I got about 10 minutes in and decided to close the window. I don't want my first memories of these songs to be that.  Whatever though they are the members of their band so they can do what they want.

On a side note though, I have no idea what to think about these guys. I understand the whole "we want to be open and honest Christians" but it just comes off like they don't care. I've been a Christian since I was young and the last 5 or so years of my life I've really questioned why I believe what I believe and every time I listen to or read something these guys have to say I just cringe. I know they are challenging the norm of the church but I feel they are taking it a little too far. They've taken the grace part of Christianity and really used it towards their advantage as Christians. Yes we are imperfect blah blah blah and God's grace covers us in that but it seems more hurtful than helpful with them. It is just very very weird for me to hear a pastor say "mother fucker" on a podcast. They've swung to the complete opposite side of the spectrum when it comes to their beliefs. I don't think cursing or watching secular movies or listening to secular music or struggling with a porn addiction makes you any less of a Christian, which is what these guys are trying to get other believers to see, but find a good middle ground. Either way I digress.

Edit: I hope this album rules and I really want The Question on wax. Maybe once the album is out and all the backers get what they bought they'll look into it.

I'm pretty much in the same boat with you on all this.

Wow. I wish I didn't love their music so much. That cover is just terrible, and no color options for the US? Plus it's a $30 single LP everywhere except amazon.  I mean... it doesn't matter because I PO'd the damn thing, but shit!

Totally agree. As soon as they said there was an opportunity for fans to have their picture in the album art I knew it would suck.

Yeah the members of Emery make it hard sometimes to actually like Emery. I've loved what I've heard from the new album but some of their decisions as a band are just weird. $30 for a single LP??!! No colored variants for North America? Why not give more information for the fans? I agree with the album art being terrible too. Bad bad choice when bands put photos with photos for album art.

I am actually really pissed about this. I did the 30$ vinyl for their crowdfunding. I know it sais plan joe vinyl, but why the fuck do we not get any limited version at all? We just get the standard black one? Unlimited? It makes absolutely no sense to me. We backed it and funded it before they even started making the music for the album and we are getting shafted as far as anything unique, special, or colorful. .
