timbrh2001
Nah, the new songs sound inspired. Clearly Neal has nothing to do with this. Inspired as in some of the worst Ryan lyrics ever created in Gimmie Something Good? Ok meathead.
lexicondevil
The Dischord and Touch and Go description is interesting. Are we talking Necros and Minor Threat interpreted by Ryan Adams? Even with the BS shipping I had to roll the dice and find out.

When people realize that 10 songs on a 7" does not equal the "Ryan Adams" that everyone paid for, I'll get one of these from someone at cost. thedannychang
Damn. Missed out on the 1984 7". Wonder if these will go up anywhere else?
sacredheart
The show last night was incredible, the new band was a breath of fresh air to some old songs. As you see he played quite a few new songs, including two off of 1984. While they are shorter songs, they are not the punk songs or saDRAcula style stuff that he has done in the past but just faster rock songs. All the new stuff sounds great live and Dirty Rain is incredible with a full band, much better than just solo.
mr. sincere
Awesome, thanks, sounds really promising. Hope the tour swings through NYC at some point.

ludakrishayes
Heading out to Jersey to see him on Saturday. It's been years - I'm thrilled. Bummed about the sold out 1984. I literally just read about it.
nelso330
I bet the 1984 seven inch will be similar to that 7minutes - pornography thing he did! But not punk! At 10 songs they must all be around a minute or so long... Hmm will probably pass on this

Might have waiited to find it elsewhere (such as my local store) and not pay the pax-am shipping had this been more publicly stated. But cool for those that missed out originally! Order that shit up! timbrh2001
Also up at Bullmoose.com for under $5. Same $2.99 shipping. I combined my order with the new LP and another copy of the Gimmie Something Good 7" and saved the $4 shipping (or added the extra 7" to my order for a buck)
timbrh2001
Here's (most) of his touring band, minus whomever is on the keys.Mike Viola - GuitarCharlie Stavish - BassFreddie Bokkenheuser - Drums Here's a stream of last night's show. http://www.npr.org/event/music/332030079/ryan-adams-live-in-concert-newport-folk-festival-2014 After the first few songs I think the band should be named Ryan Adams & The Amateur Hour Oh how I long for the days of "shitty" Neal and The Cardinals... Hopefully these clowns get better by the time I see them in October. Oh well, at least it ain't gonna be a solo acoustic tour.

timbrh2001
Youre from To Be Young arent you? You got that asshole attitude about you like all of them have. Actually I don't have that asshole attitude towards his music. Generally I'm a huge supporter of every single thing he does (even The Shit, Werewolph, you name it). I'm originally part of the RAA fluffer crowd and have stayed away from TBY for years mainly due to what you're accusing me of being. Since RAA has been down for a while I have turned to TBY, mainly for news and updates and such. But let's be honest here, his new band is rough as shit. I mean the drummer sounds like he just graduated from a Fisher Price kit. They even admit this is like the bassist's 3rd ever concert performance and it definitely sounds like it. The backing vocals leave a ton to be desired. The 2nd guitarist and keyboardist are just OK. Bottom line is I'm glad he's playing concerts with a band again but there is absolutely no way his new band is gonna make us long time RA fans forget about The Cardinals. jonnywreck
I'm gonna have to disagree with you here, Tim. It sounds like they just need a bit more time to feel each other out as musicians. Or maybe not. While I do agree that shitty Neal and his band of pied pipers (R.I.P. Spacewolf) DID sound more tight and organized, I think it sounded like Ryan is having a TON of fun, and that's why I dug the show. That "Mother" cover is sick. timsimmons
TBY isn't full of assholes, it just has more people that are honest about Ryan. I've never understood RAA's Pollyanna attitude toward him. Maybe it was because he posted there.

I'm definitely willing to give them more time to "figure it out", just hoped he had come out touring with a more accomplished group of professional musicians.
