I'm very new to the cassette game. I had to get a new car because mine was totaled thanks to an old woman. Anywho, the car I've obtained has a cassette player, and they've always been interesting to me.

Listening to cassettes in the car is awesome. When I go home on the occasional weekend, I'll put all of my tapes in one box and my cat in another.  My cherished cassettes are now at my fingertips ready to be played at mid-volume and low bass, for my cat's ears' sake!

Are there any good distros (in the United States) where I can get my hands on anything from Ascetic House, Total Black, or Posh Isolation? I just subbed to the mailing lists too.

Mount Analog and Chondritic Sound usually stock Ascetic House releases. They typically don't last long though.

Analog Worship stocks Total Black and sometimes gets Posh Isolation stuff. The PI stuff usually goes fast.

Yeah finding posh isolation here in the states, specifically older titles, ain't easy

I had an easier time getting the old titles as they came out than I do now with current releases. Back then there were a small handful of US distros that would get copies. Now it seems like nobody in the US gets the tapes.

The vinyl is still easy to get at least.

So I had asked a really talented musician, The Spookfish, if he had any tapes because the ones that were being sold were like 7-9 dollars without shipping, and he said no, but he could make me one when he got back from tour. I obviously accepted, and he told me that although it won't have any songs from The Living Room, it would be entirely unreleased tracks. One side being from when he had Lyme Disease, the B-side having live material directly recorded from when he would host these shows in the mountains. He would go on a hike with a big group of people, and bring portable amps, a guitar, etc, and every landmark they would pass he would have someone play their set. It came with a detailed description of all this and a track listing. I just got it in the mail today so I'm going to listen to it right now, It's a good 60 minutes of material at least.

Edit: Forgot to include a link to his bandcamp: https://thespookfish.bandcamp.com/

No problem! Yeah, she's probably wondering what you want, haha. Did you manage to grab the CSD exclusive tape? It's pretty cool.

I sent the money for a copy, I fear they're out by now. I'll be really sad if they are. I missed the demo tape when that came out so I figured I'd just get this one.

Does anyone how many copies of Madvillainy and Donuts were released? Trying to figure out if I need to jump on em.

Fairly sure it's a high number, 500 or so. I'm sure Stones Throw recognized they would be sought after items, and produced accordingly. I don't know any real pressing amounts, but due to the abundance of them on Discogs (at retail prices, not jacked up flipper prices) I'd say a lot of stores had some left over. Still, I'd jump on it now, it ain't goin much lower than 10 bucks a tape, and probably down the line you'll be happy you did. Most solid purchases I've made in a while, it's great to have Donuts in my junky beater.
