Bladewillisisdead
I'll have to check this out. In the meantime, BWM has a bunch of random bundles up. I grabbed a random t-shirt and record for $10. Chances are pretty good I'll get an LP I already have.

jeromium
Hmm, I was shuffling my 2016 queue a bit and the song "Your name's Not Ned" came up. I'd forgotten what this album was supposed to sound like, or where I found out about it, but I'm getting a heavy Built to Spill & Weezer circa 1994 vibe on this. Moving this up in the queue. Shelby
This record sounds like Cloud Nothings trying to make a '94 era Built to Spill record over and over three times.
jeromium
This record sounds like Cloud Nothings trying to make a '94 era Built to Spill record over and over three times. Which is better than Cloud Nothings making Cloud Nothings. I initially heard "Your name's Not Ned" and thought of Built to Spill and blue Weezer, but today I listened to the whole album. There are obvious BtS influences throughout, but the whole thing is a lot more emo than I expected. I don't really hear Weezer at all now, even in that song. It's more SDRE and early Modest Mouse along with BtS I suppose. That's musically, anyway. I found the album really solid, one of the better emo revival records I've heard. Partly because the vocals worked for me better than with a lot of the other bands doing this thing. I was surprised by its length, but since my listening was split/interrupted and not continuous, it didn't feel overlong. I'll go through it again tomorrow. jaedong
i'm not usually that huge on BWM stuff these days but i heard the first song on this and ordered the album. having listened to the rest of it, i love this. i feel like the songwriting is really there, i was never wild about built to spill but i guess the emo sheen pushed it into "love it" territory for me. His voice sounds similar to Rivers in a few songs including that one so you weren't that far off with your initial assessment, but yeah that's where that comparison ends. Derek™
Bumping this thread to remind everyone that if they're not checking this album out, they're seriously fucking up. I've spent a month with it – thanks to Shlebs' praise – and it's genuinely gotten better and better. One of the strongest releases of 2016 as far as I'm concerned. mesi
So you guys have the record in hand already? I preorder this from somewhere not BWM and the release date keeps getting pushed back. It is now 6/10 apparently.

I'd say you should definitely have it by now.

jaymond00
I played drums for these guys for a year or so back when they first moved to Portland in 2011. Really stoked to see the success they're having right now. Isaac's work ethic/songwriting chops are second to none. Fridge Fox
andables
put off checking these guys out until now. really good stuff. did BWM sell out of their first pressing of this or did it just get delayed?
