shenanigans
So I sold a 7" on ebay last week and just got a message that the guy got it and it was totally melted. Anyone ever had any experiences like this? It was USPS 1st class. I asked for pictures, but I'm just curious if anyone has seen this before. I haven't
ijux
lol, if vinyl records can be compared to vinyl flooring it needs an open flame on it for at least 15 seconds before it even starts to melt.. maybe he means that its bent due to heat or sth? shenanigans
he said it looks like a tortia bowl...which i think would be pretty difficult since it was in a cardboard 7" mailer with an extra piece of cardboard... said hes going to send me pics tonight

listentovinyl
^haha, cant wait to see the pics, sounds like the guy is trying to pull some BS.
rtw88
Yeah, he's either exaggerating or straight up lying. Also, just put it in your listings that the buyer can pay for insurance if they want to, and if they opt out then it's their problem is anything happens. No, you can no longer do that. eBay policy now states that it is solely the responsibility of the seller, if USPS doesn't deliver, item arrives damaged, etc. Sellers basically have no right on eBay anymore, it is pretty disgusting. chiefwahoo
I shipped a single to someone in Texas(?) a couple of summers ago. Packaged extremely well but he told me it was warped to the point that it couldn't be played. I offered to work something out with him but he declined, he knew it was just his bad luck that it happened due to the heat. So yes, it can happen and it doesn't mean anybody is trying to pull a fast one. However, rational people should realize that it's probably not the seller's fault. oakland
Of course it's possible. Check out this record. It's an Isis 12" single. I'll try to find the photo of the record itself, but trust me, it looks like a bowl.

genuma
yeah, probably a bit of an exaggeration. i've had a couple records warp form heat, but a well packaged 7" melting into a bowl sounds like bull shit.
oakland
Wait until you see the photo of the record that was in that box. It's dramatic. By the way, I talked to my mail lady about not putting my records in the sun if I'm not there. She's awesome about it and I plan to give her a $50 Christmas tip. Not that it's any help if the records are warped when they get to her, but ...
oakland
Here you go. It's not a bowl, but you can see how it would be possible if the right amount of heat and pressure were applied.
genuma
yeah, that's pretty bad. was the package already bent and the heat solidified it into that shape or was it just heat?
