thespungo
Got mine today, they look pretty cool. Ordered a slipmat, too, which I thought decidedly less cool. It came folded in half to fit the envelope, so there's a big crease down the middle. Plus, it's a felt slipmat, which for some reason doesn't seem to be as cool to me as a rubber slipmat. Any pro/con for rubber vs. felt slipmats? I don't know the difference.
adamlikesmusic
While my turntable came with a rubber slipmat, all of the ones I've since owned have been felt (including the FAT one). I suppose rubber would be better at preventing slippage, though I've never had an issue either way.

thespungo
After repeated playings of the Gimmes 7", the rubber slipmat plays the vinyl perfectly, while the felt slipmat causes shaky and distorted playback (the 7" wobbles on top of it slightly). It looks cool, but appears I might have wasted $6...
burntwolf
I think the felt splipmats were designed more for DJs to be able to stop and que up stuff more precisely...or some BS like that...

apeman
Had quite a laugh when I dropped the needle on their Air Supply cover and they kick it off with the intro to 'Rise Above'. Pure genius.

Dillhole
I think the felt splipmats were designed more for DJs to be able to stop and que up stuff more precisely...or some BS like that... exactly. With the felt ones they can stop the record with there hand while the platter spins freely under the mat so when they let go the record instantly goes back to speed. I know when I bought my SL-1200 new it came with a felt and rubber mat. Rubber for Hi-Fi use and felt for DJ. For the record, I'm waiting as patiently as I can for this to arrive. Especially since I went all out and have a pretty good sized order coming in with it.

I just assumed it would be rubber like the other record labels slipmats that I've seen.
adamlikesmusic
Out of curiosity, what labels have done rubber ones? All of the label/band ones I've ever bought have been felt.
geezfools
I've never seen rubber ones(custom) either. Most audiophile sites I've gone to suggest not using a felt slipmat and using the standard rubber one the player comes with...
mymirrorspeaks
I've been looking for the longest line ep for a while and never thought to check fatwreck.com, picked one up for 8 bucks!

Are the No Idea slipmats felt? I thought about maybe getting one of those, too. Other than No Idea, Fat, and MTS, I haven't seen any other custom label slipmats. garrygumguru
I'm happy with the release. I'd rather have a full length, but oh well. Is Fat still limiting their records to 2000 total, or will this stay in print on black? Just curious.
