These are usually attached to the lower control arm. And the reason they normally go bad from wear and tear is because of the rubber part gets dry-rot over time and due to the excessive movement it does normally, they can snap or crack. I was guessing lower. I think I need my tie-rod ends replaced, and since I have the right ball-joint replaced might as well get the left done just in case.
