post local bands to check out

Okta Logue

This band here is from Darmstadt, Germany. Currently my favourite German band, too!

I think they're getting pretty big. They got signed to Columbia last year, releasing a new album this week and they just posted on Facebook that they're planning a tour in the States!

Check out this song/video:

It's also one of the coolest music videos I've ever seen! Hope you enjoy it!

shameless self promotion, buuuuut...

My band released an album a few months ago, and it's free on Bandcamp.

I hate trying to pin down a genre, but it probably falls most into like pop-punk, post-hardcore, alternative, whatever, but there's also some electronic interlude songs, and ambient parts...

Also there's an awesome underground hip-hop artist from Portland named Dust. He just released an album called Dust Raps the Blues about a month ago and i've had it on constant rotation since.

Most of his beats are made from samples of blues music, and it works so well with his style.
Check it out, free download on Bandcamp:

He also made a music video:

Lions

I've been friends with these guys for a while now, and I think they just keep getting better and better. They played Warped Tour in NC as well as Fest in FL this year, and are heading up north this December for a couple of dates. They give all their music away for free on wearelions.bandcamp.com

Here's a song off their newest EP Forgettingism:

Their song Nashville, TN from their first EP MTNZ was featured in a Total BMX video:

My band is slowly transforming into an acoustic act. My guitarist and i are writing really great parts and hopefully i can get my bassist to write some nice piano to give it the intimate folky sound we're after. So eventually ill have recordings to share with you guys! For now check out our brothers in Jonah Vin. San antonio emo at its best!

Awesome newer band from my area (Kingston/Wilkes-Barre, PA)

thats pretty damn good. Vocals and all really solid!

Here's some AZ bands, old stuff from my upbringing.

The Hot Guy Band. Came out in October 2001, features Nate Ruess on the first song, before I&L and just after the Formats EP came out.
