kouka
So my daughter has been getting into Of Mice and Men, Bullet For My Valentine, Pierce the Veil, Fall Out Boy, etc.. and she likes vinyl, so I thought if maybe some folks on here might have grown out of that shit and would want to sell it. Let me knowwwww.
jhulud
Interesting tastes. How old is your daughter?
mmhmm
Wrong section? Could turn into a good thread though, so either place works.
kouka
she just turned 13.. I'm taking her to Warped Tour this year, so I'll look on the bright side that I've dodged it for this long. On a bright note, I did take her to The Evens 2 nights ago, so hopefully her tastes will level out.
Derek™
Youth are allowed to have terrible tastes for a bit. It develops character, and allows you to obtain appreciation and scope on how far you've (hopefully) come, years down the road. Cheers for supporting your daughter. I'd just avoid any pricey purchases, really. hobohunter48, 19841gg3, trevorxramage and 4 others
youmightbewrong
I can somewhat contribute here. I'm 38, and my oldest (who is 2 years older than teenage eric) is into La Dispute, Bayside, Converge, Brand New, The Wonder Years, Thrice, most of topshelf, runforcover, and nosleep bands. I'm very proud that I can help steer him in this direction. Where we live, it's all about mainstream, so I like to think I've done a pretty good job. Yes, this is somewhat off topic, but it could very easily turn into a thread about the age of your kid and what their musical taste is. kouka
I agree wholeheartedly.. And yes, I don't want to buy any of this stuff new, so if I can can find it used, she'd be stoked to get it. c'mon folks, sell me your Hot Topic collections. jerseydave77
My friends 13 year old is into Mallcore too. When I told her I knew all the bands she was talking about she was amazed. I then told her I would gift her a copy of Black Flag's Damaged on cd and it has expanded her into much better punk from the past. The Angst of Rollins will always prevail. Good Luck man, a couple of those bands make me cringe but then again so do many that I dug at that age. trevorxramage
Derek™
Good Luck man, a couple of those bands make me cringe but then again so do many that I dug at that age. So much this. My sentiments exactly. Even looking back to 16 or 17, I can recall some absolute trash in my iTunes. I can't even pretend that my tastes were "quality" or diverse as a teenager. Let me know if you're interested in any of the following (even though they really are left or right of the mark you're going for...): Adema - Insomniac's Dream A whole bunch of Lady Gaga 7" picture disc singles, The Fame/The Fame Monster era Though it's probably a little fucked up to give either of those to a 13 year old, haha. kforkevin777
Better Of Mice & Men and Memphis May Fire than Justin Beiber and One Direction. I'd wait until HT puts their scenecore stuff on clearance, then wait for a 25 percent off and free shipping. Or BOGO half off.
PC Music
I personally think Biebs and 1D are better than those bands (though I don't listen to much of either), but I prefer pop to that screamy noise.

Agreed, I think that One Direction song is catchy as hell and I don't care who knows it.

youmightbewrong
I have a long way to go with the girls though. The 11 year old is a Directioner, whatever the hell that means. She cried because I wouldn't get her a 1D hoodie. I had to cave. That was a bad day. I catch her singing along to Brand New though, so there's that. jerseydave77
I had some great stuff already at 13. I'm mostly embarrassed that at one time in my life I though Alice in Chains was cool. That shit is straight mopey nonsense.
