Guest
A few to consider http://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649210176-cambridge-audio-azur-840a-v2-integrated-amp/ http://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649204614-creek-evolution-50a-integrated-line-amplifier-50-wpc/ http://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649110844-music_hall_a153_remote_integrated_amp_with_phono_stageb/ And I prefer canuck audio Mart if the seller will ship to you; usually a better selection of UK brands and right now the exchange rate is very favorable. http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649211387-cambridge-a-640-amp-amp-t-340-tuner/ http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649195360-audiolab-integrated-amplifier-8200a-demo-silv http://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649200367-rega-brior-black-demo/ The demo Brio for $610 USD is a pretty good deal if they will ship to US, I really do love mine. Granted, I have a Rega P3 ao I'm a bit biased in the pairing I'm sure. I'm debating that Music Hall, but the shipping from HI is expensive :/. Still a bit cheaper than buying it new. There is another for $20 cheaper, and there is also this (which may be pickup only): http://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649212337-creek-evoevolution-integrated-amp/

It does not say, so I'll ask. It these multiple versions like 1, 2, 3 etc? 1, I assume being the oldest and first model?
allenh
Size from memory, there's a 50 and a 100 plus a 2 which I think is version 2. Have a look at the Creek website that should help
Guest
Well if color is any indication, it is a 50. I emailed the seller to ask though.
xxsilence
From the photos I think that's just the plain old Creek Evo, then there was the Evo 2, then the Evo 50a, then Evo 50a2 being the newest. I heard an Evo 2 once and wasn't overly impressed. I haven't heard the 50a, but the 50a2 sounded fantastic. I was actually looking for a good used one and it was new enough I didn't have much luck, and stumbled on the Brio in my search.
xxsilence
Yeah pretty sure it's just this one, the plain Evo from like 2007/8 http://www.techradar.com/us/reviews/audio-visual/hi-fi-and-audio/amplifiers/creek-evolution-amplifier-452001/review

It is listed as "Evo/Evolution Amplifier" under their Old Products section.

Edit: woops just read the show sample, 3 days old. Duh.
Guest
The cheaper Music Hall is open box, but still sealed inside. I might go with that if it's still there when I get paid Friday. Edit: How do you buy through the site? Is it all done through email? I feel like I'm a moron for missing something.
allenh
Music Hall isn't a brand we get in the UK but isn't there a tie up with Creek? The music hall website sends you to the Creek website as well and the electronics certainly looks very Creek in the same way most of the turntables seem to be Project's badged as Music Halls. Guest
Music Hall is an American company, and they make all their own stuff, nothing rebranded. Everything does look really similar to Creek and Project stuff. I ended up ordering the Music Hall amp, came to $428, which saves me $122. It is an open box, but never used the guy said. He is a dealer, so it still has a warranty on it.

The turntables are made in the Czech republic so basically Project and looking at the electronics I'd put money on there being some sort of Creek tie up. It's nothing new all the NAD kit was made by someone else to NAD designs, the same firm made all the AMC kit as well as a couple of others and you could always see the family resemblance, why re-invent the wheel when someone else has already done it, has the manufacturing all set up and is happy for you to put your name on it? Either way that price seems pretty good so enjoy.

I guess the only difference for their TT is the cart. is their own brand, but it's made in Japan, so it is probably just another rebranded component. I'm happy with the purchase. Next up is a new turntable, but that might have to wait a month or two.
allenh
Music Hall have badged a few carts, some are Goldring and some are Ortofons. All of the Music hall kit has good pedigree so it should be of a reasonable standard and I’ve since found that the turntables are available on Amazon UK, I’ve just never seen them in the wild over here
Guest
You guys seem to have a lot more options, and betters ones over there, so no surprise you haven't seen one.

My understanding is Music Hall is the central distributor for Creek in the US but they are definitely separate companies, and you're right about the appearance similarities with Creek. Just an assumption, but I wouldn't be surprised if they share a manufacturing plant or an origin story together. They were only founded two years apart (Creek '83 and Music Hall '85). And I was just reading up on Creek's history to see if it says anything, and there's a note: "In 1995 Creek’s USA distributor Music Hall ordered a miniature vinyl disc amplifier to be made in a small case. Roy Hall, Music Hall’s president, christened it the OBH-8 and from there the OBH range increased to include phono pre-amps, headphone amps, remote controlled pre-amps, plus a 24 bit D to A converter." So definitely a lot of shared history together.
Guest
I'm going to grab some blue jean speaker cables soon too, but I'm not quite sure what these connectors are on my speakers. I'm thinking they are just dual banana clips, and using normal ones will work ok?
dethrock
Can you pull that red thing out?
Guest
Yeah, it comes out. It's just a metal clip, which is what makes me think it is just two banana clips in one casing.
Tardcore
yeah, you can buy connectors like that. It should just be 2 banana plugs with a spacer.

I think there might be a newer version though... If you go with the DC, you can get it discounted through Musicians Friend.
Guest
Anyone build their own wall mount for their turntable? I'm thinking of switching some of my art around to make room for a wall mount, but the premade ones are quite expensive.
