YCCC - YoCaseyCasey's CRAZY (A 60 Day Juice Fast)

Recommended Posts

Kriss.. Do you have a framework you used (recipes, meal regimens, motivational tools, etc) that you could PM me? I just read through this thread and I think this sounds like it's for me. I am an ex-athlete who let himself go and it's time to get back to fighting shape. I want to concentrate on drastic fat-loss before I go for tone as I'm still a pretty strong dude so muscle mass doesn't really concern me. I'm 6'3" and 277lbs and id like to get down to about 225 from juicing and then switch to a more intense workout plan. I just think getting back on the workout bus will be easier not carrying around 50 extra pounds. Any help (from any of you who've had success) would be appreciated.

  • 3 weeks later...

I slipped up for the last month and started eating a shit ton of pizza (new one 3 minutes walking down the street that just opened didn't help!) and I ended up staying at the same place on the scale. Because I've continually juiced three times daily, having crappy junk food at night hasn't equaled any weight gain, thankfully, but, of course, no loss, either. hahah

A few days ago I started on a new 30 day bender of straight juicing with a raw salad integrated in (the main reason why I went pizza crazy - I need something to chew. No clue how I did that 60 day run over the Summer with no solids. hahah) - stepped on the scale this morning and I'm at 198. I've never been anything less than 200 for as far back as I can remember (maybe middle school? I was a chubby kid!). I'm looking to get down to 180 by the end of these 30 days and have also been introducing in push ups, lifts, squats, dips, light dumb bell lifting, and planks so that I can start toning up. I also do about 20,000+ steps (10+ miles) a day due to my dog walking job - THAT probably helped me to not gain anything when I was eating pizza literally every night for a month, too. hah

Atticus - the main thing I juice and drink DAILY no matter what is this:

1 large Beet

1 large Cucumber

1 large bundle of Kale

2 medium Green Apples

6 medium Carrots

That concoction (after also running the pulp through the juicer a couple of times) is typically between 56 and 64 ounces. I split that up into three servings (one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one in the evening) and also drink a cup of lemon juice (literally hot water and freshly squeezed lemon) in the morning along with green tea or kombucha throughout the day. Right now, I'm also eating a raw salad for dinner (spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, avocado, etc) so that I can continue to drop weight. When I don't need to worry about weight loss any more and just focus on maintenance, I'll go back to doing dinner time hot foods along with a couple of times a week doing things like sushi or pizza since the continual juicing and exercise I do (as mentioned above) will keep even the junkiest of foods from causing weight to come back on. :)

I intend on juicing throughout the day for the rest of my life - at this point, I've gotten to where the injection of nutrients from the raw veggies gives me endless energy throughout the day, which is definitely what I need. During the day, eating solids is never even a temptation - it's always at night, so be careful of that when dinner time rolls around.

here's a pic of me from a couple of days ago. I still have a ways to go but I'm not scared of being photographed anymore, atleast - http://nooneisdangerous.tumblr.com/post/64979399763/no-real-updates-lately-other-than-my-hair-looks#notes-container

This thread seems to have died now, so it's probably silly to bring it back. However, I work at a juice bar so I was extremely curious as to what you guys we're drinking/doing. First off, congrats on everyone who made it as far as they did...because even as someone who currently makes a living juicing...I'm not sure I'd be able to make it even 3 days with just juice.

That being said, anyone who is looking for more juicing options, we're known in the area for a few great but simple ones. Our green juice blends are normally half a bag of spinach, 1 avocado, 1 banana, and a fruit of your choice (I reccomend 2 mangos or 2 handfuls of blueberries. Raspberries also rule.) Then throw it all in a blender and fill half the blender with apple cider (the kind that is JUST APPLES, nothing else. No added sugar etc.) blend! We strain all the juices from berries to get rid of the grainy texture from seeds. But that's up to you!

If you have a juicer, some great options are orange grapefruit juice and watermelon limeade. We also made a grapefruit apple cider that was pretty incredible once!

Hopefully some of these come in handy for anyone who is still into the juice thing :)

I've been curious about juicing but I don't really want to drop a lot of money on a juicer, going off what was said above, is this something you can do in a blender and then strain?

Also I've heard you shouldn't do hard workouts and I play hockey a couple times a week, which I won't stop. Is ther any truth to this.

The first recipes I posted with spinach, avocado, etc are made in a blender! Just strain any that you make with berries to get rid of the seeds. I've never tried to make just juice without a juicer and then straining it...but I would say it's worth a shot?

Not too sure about physical activity, but reading through this board it seems that starting physical activity that your body isn't used to isn't a great idea. But if you're already active it seems to be fine? I'm not a professional, so I'd definitely do some research on that!

I've never done a juice fast, but I have done some other detox style diets, sports will probably be a pain. You'll be super tired, feel a step behind and generally have a much harder time. Lightheadedness and all that jazz is possible as well.

Give it a go, but in my experience, it isn't fun. I was playing fairly competitive soccer if it matters.

Mix you dominant greens. For instance don't do spinach every day, or kale, or broccolli etc, Remember apple blends well with almost every veggie/fruit except for green apples. Hella sour. I'm still experimenting with recipes I like myself before I go full boar. I'm also learning how to buy and store fruits/veggies still. Sometimes I over buy and can't get to a certain vegetable in time so I'll make a "fucked up juice" where it's pretty much all my left overs that are soon to go bad. Be prepared for that! Haha. Avoid frozen shit. The point of juicing is to get those fresh live nutrients and enzymes. Yeah you can still get vitamin c from frozen berries and junk but yeah just go fresh. If you can afford to go organic, reduces pesticides and wax on foods tremendously. So far I've been doing combinations of 2-3 at the max. I feel it's over kill to go over 4-5 pairs since you'll be doing juice all through out the day. You'd be surprised of all the great combinations that only require two choices. My favorites are, Apple/carrots, Cantaloupe/carrot, apple/beets (even use the leafs on the beets they blend well) I still struggle with the heavy greens but Ive been doing, Kale, Bok Choy, Spinach as my dark greens. Need to try the brocolli and stuff. If anyone has dope dark green juice lmk!
