sillybarry
should be amazing... wonder if Philly got any of the tests pressings since that's The Roots hometown... I know Long In The Tooth didn't.
youspinmeround
I think the test presses are a made up story. Nobody has seen one, at least that I have heard of. This release was scheduled for RSD and than dropped I cant imagine that test presses would have been avail 6 months before this got released and it took this long Would have thought if copies were available anywhere that this thing would have leaked already Just my two cents and I could be totally wrong

swisherprice
The hell are you talking about? Apparently The Roots released a small number of these on RSD, they even tweeted about it a day or two after saying "for those who didn't know we had two releases on RSD: TFA and Wise Up Ghost, more will be available at release date." I didn't know they were test presses, but all I know is my local store didn't get any and I haven't seen any pop online. sillybarry

I just assumed they didn't get it done in time and it would be released later.

lexicondevil
Streaming at NPR: http://www.npr.org/2013/09/08/219316721/first-listen-elvis-costello-the-roots-wise-up-ghost I really like both of these artists/groups separately. On first listen, I'm not so sure it's working together, for me. If it gets people to discover the other artist's material that they hadn't listened to before, then it is a success. paranoidantroyd
Think this should've been called "Elvis Costello and The Roots Band" since there's no sign of Black Thought on the album.

I think he's doing back up vocals at points, but I agree..wish he'd have played a larger part in this album
steventangent
I listened last night and really dug parts of it...I think it merits a second take tonight to decide whether I really like it.
The Exquisite Death of NK
After listening to this once through, I really like it. And I am not really a hip-hop/rap fan (which is why I like that Black Thought doesn't really make an appearance). IMO, the worst parts of the album are the ballads. somethingvinyl
Musically, it's great. Elvis is aging.
lexicondevil
Giving this another listen and it's starting to grow on me. I would still rather listen to these artists separately, but this is interesting.
ilikeguitars
Definitely an interesting record, Roots keep the music tight and Elvis is interesting. Not sure if i would listen to it much and im not really feeling the price.
sillybarry
Well, I pre-ordered at Best Buy and they never received it from the manufacture. Amazon and others are showing it in stock. I called Best Buy and they switched my shipping to over night, so, that's kinda cool if OR when they get it.
DJ Quik
I initially wanted to get this, but it's really pretty average New material from Elvis Costello in 2013 isn't really worth the vinyl purchase. I love The Roots, wish they made another record with john legend instead
