Maybe we'll get to buy FTM single for a marginal fee of $25.

What if FTM is engraved into the box and we have to buy a specialty turntable with 4 inches between the platter and needle so we can play it?

really great mastering job, dynamite sounding record and no issues on the indie red either. I'm not surprised the mastering engineer has done great work for Daughters, Austra, Mars Volta, Bjork, Hotelier and many other highly praised albums on these forums

I’ve been listening to this album a lot lately and (obviously) have really come around on it. I really like it. There are definitely a few tracks that would make it on a personal “Best of” and not one I skip.

my LP sounded good and had no pressing issues. I got one of the red galaxy from Sargent House.

To echo what Buff said, I don't think you'd necessarily need to ask for photos... but due to the nature of sellers having to select the correct entry to submit their sale listing, it is well worth your time to reach out and message them if you're at all skeptical.  If you're after a particular press or variant and it's not spelled out in the comment section of the listing, I would suggest messaging the seller just to confirm.  Can't tell you how many headaches I've saved in advance – it seems like a lot of the lesser-experienced sellers will just click the first available "LP" option and post their listing there, regardless of press #, colorway, etc.

Relax. Just because it isn't fundamental to life, doesn't mean I can't critique the business practices surrounding the sale of it. I know its not medication (nor a credit card balance) and I never implied that it was in any way similar. In fact I completely rejected the comparison of record pricing to any other type of entertainment product but especially something as fundamentally necessary as fuel for your means of transportation. I merely pointed out that it is a lot by today's standards with direct comparisons to a nearly identical product of the exact same format and if people keep buying up the specialized versions of products at ridiculous prices they will encourage those who produce or sell said products to keep inflating the prices even on the regular non-specialized basic editions. I think that is a valid concern.

This is a vinyl message board. I'm limiting my critique to vinyl prices. I'm also not advocating that anyone buy more than one copy of any record. I guess you could say that I'm attempting to be persuasive against anyone buying Newbury Comics exclusives because their prices, in my contention, are an insult. I don't think that's a serious transgression. And still, I'm not even aggressively dictating to anyone that they must not buy those editions. I'm simply providing a voice of dissent for my own venting and for anyone who wishes to engage in the conversation. My concern is that it would be nice if engaging in the practice of consuming products like vinyl records could remain somewhat affordable to me. And of course I'm using my own measure of affordability to make that case admittedly. If the cost of production actually justifies such a spike in the retail price of the product then maybe that just means that I get priced out of participating in the consumerism of a product that is important to me and that is something that obviously concerns me. I hope that its clear that I enjoy accumulating and listening to vinyl records. Here I am on a discussion forum dedicated to records talking about that and all the aforementioned issues surrounding it. Also, if this topic and my position on it aggravates you that much, you luckily have the liberty of ignoring it. If you want to debate it, I'm clearly happy to.

Nothing is being over-thought. Newbury is a straight up player who licenses popular record titles to have exclusive color variants made only to be sold at nearly double the cost of most other in print editions because their edition is "limited" and "exclusive" and the suckers lap it up. People are free to be taken in by it but when you consider that music purchasers generally aim to have a larger quantity of records at their disposal than rounds of golf, tanks of gas or IMAX movie experiences it stands to reason that if a product can be and is sold at a reasonable price, then selling the same essential product with an extra baked in level of exclusivity or scarcity just to pander to a certain gullible demographic is particularly reprehensible and also thereby your analogy does not land. Not the end of the world. Just a greedy and ugly way to take advantage of those affected by a very particular type of product hype. You vote with your wallet. Keep buying overpriced shit and the shit you want will keep going up in price. I'm one of those crazies who would rather their physical music format be further to the affordable side.

Plus, I'm not exactly sitting on a mountain of money  and would like each of my dollars to go as far as they can. I would also never play golf. Ever.

I suffer from the admittedly stupid affliction of feeling that the albums is cool if it was somebody else but for being QOTSA I really wanted something different from them. Its fucked up of me but I feel like they should have stuck a little closer to their identity which clearly changes with a greater degree of variance than Tool's does. Album is cool. But when I go to the Queens, I want something else. Plus there were too many fucking guest appearance that felt forced even though I don't believe it was actually forced, it just didn't feel like it served the album. I like the guests themselves for who they are and for what they normally do in music but I didn't feel like they jived on the album.

I think there is a world of difference between Lateralus and 10,000 Days. Like it sounds like the band Tool. They have their own sonic identity. That's ok. I don't want them to put out an album where they suddenly sound like Simon & Garfunkel or Nirvana or anyone else. I want them to sound like them. But the attitude and sonics in general between those albums is very different. To me its different between all the albums. People liked to say that Tool keep putting out the same 7 songs every 5 years (back when that used to be the approximate interval unlike it is today) but I think those people just didn't understand or have the tolerance or sensitivity for the consistency of the Tool sonic identity. They play the way they play and to most people it sounds monotonous from album to album but to me I can hear the very distinct separation between each album's own identity. I have a strong feeling this album will be different in that very same way. Maybe that's a subtlety that is too minute for a lot of people to detect but that's likely how its gong to be. I feel like 10,000 Days may be their weakest effort for me personally so I do hope they come back and kick my ass but who knows.

I'd rather they stick to their guns and feel comfortable in their artistry than to put out their own Villains or ....Like Clockwork.

Man I remember discovering House of Balloons and listening to it almost daily.  I could never get into anything after that except a few songs.  There's just not as much substance in production and lyrics, something that actually made him stand out.  Now I hear his stuff on the radio and it sounds like everything else.

Probably pass on this Black Pudding rarely gets any rotation whereas everything sans Garwood does. Of all the members of his touring band it's sad Garwood is the one he collaborates with, I'd snap up a Lanegan/Lyenn collab completely blind.

It's called Evolution because it's a concept album about the life of the Galapagos tortoise. Danny Carey has recently developed an interest in equatorial sea life. That's why he started The Legend of Seagullmen. The new album closes with a rework of a Rage Against the Machine song featuring Zach De La Rocha during the breakdown called Know Your Anemone.

That's ok. Its all part of the great and varied complex tapestry of human experience and the individual's filters of bias and experience.

I'll volunteer that the "Moves Like Jagger" comment was a bit of a stretch but in my estimation of what I'm hearing I feel like I've heard enough bands go from raw and killer rock bands to strained and polished Pop bands thinly veiled by their pasts as Rock artists that I can tell what's going to happen by the sound of that track.

Again, I could be wrong and I know I don't have a lot to go on as we have all only heard about 25 new seconds of original material that is meant to be on this album but I'm going with my intuition and based on my experience of watching bad things happen to good bands, I'm predicting that something bad is going to come with this one.

[Most important point]: I hope everyone realizes that they are still fully endowed with the freedom to enjoy this track and any others from this and every artist regardless of my jaded asshole opinion.

Lullabies. I like a few songs on EV but I rarely ever play it. It doesn't have to be desert rock but with JT on the drums you might as well do some bombastic prog rock shit. If they could have taken the tonality of "My God Is The Sun" and based an album on that type of rocking and complexity, that would be good. I wouldn't call that "desert" necessarily but I'm not interested in this band going full Pop. There are a million ways they could go. I'm just shocked its this direction. I could be totally off and there might be mostly killer shit on this album but when you consider the producer and the comments it feels like we're just going to get an upbeat Maroon 5esque Pop/Rock album. Emphasis on the Pop. I hope I'm proven wrong.  That clip reminds me more of "Moves Like Jagger" than anything from TCV or QOTSA.
